Scholarships at Xavier University

I. Types of Scholarships/ Grants:

The various scholarships offered by the University are classified into three main categories namely:

1. Academic Scholarships. Academic scholarships are awarded each year or semester for academic achievement. Financial need is considered taking into account the per capita income of the family. The scholarship awardee maintains his/ her scholarship as long as he/ she meets the required semestral QPI for his/ her curricular year level. There are two types of academic scholarships: the University-funded scholarships and scholarships provided by private donors or which are also called “endowments.”

2. Grants-in-Aid (G-i-A). G-i-As are distinct from scholarships. G-i-As are primarily awarded to those in financial need but are expected to strive for academic excellence as well. Some grants are more like gifts reflecting XU’s desire to witness to justice and to serve the poor. Some dedicated scholarship programs funded by private institutions/ sponsors are administered by recipient schools or colleges, e.g. College of Agriculture, College of Nursing, College of Engineering and School of Medicine.

3. Student Assistantship and Student Assistance Fund. Student assistantship and student assistance fund are other forms of financial assistance to students. These forms of financial assistance are primarily administered by the Office of Student Affairs.
