School psychologists often counsel personnel, teachers, students, and other stakeholders, conduct parenting workshops, assess students for special education or gifted programs and write individualized education plans. They are also prepared to help individuals cope with a variety of emotional and social challenges, including language and cultural barriers, substance abuse, violence, victimization and/or substance abuse and learning or behavioral disorders.
