Why did I choose this school: My parents chose this school for me mainly because it is the premier school in the country. I also had other school choices but I went to UP because I myself believed that an excellent school will produce excellent alumnus.

About UP Visayas: The ambiance of our school was nice and comfortable mainly because most of the students have the same level of intelligence. The professors and instructors were brilliant and were very knowledgeable in their own field.

Although the facilities were not enough when being used by most students we learn to manage our time and the availability of the resources effectively like the projectors we need when having a presentation. Most of the classrooms were not air-conditioned but it is well-ventilated. The library have all the books and resources we need for our lessons. There are also places to rest and socialize with as well as to study as there are many benches with umbrella we can sit on.

My current job: Currently I am a Licensed Real Estate Broker.


How long did it take to find a job: I easily found a job after graduating.
I applied to one company but I was not hired mainly because I don't have any work experience and the second company that I applied to hired me for the reason that even if I don't have any work experience we are going to be trained to fit our job description.

About UP Visayas: I can confidently say that my university is conducive to learning. We were fortunate to have access to the latest equipments and facilities since it is one of the highly prestigious state universities in the country. Everything we needed to hone our skills in our field was made available to us.
My university is quite big and there are lots of areas in the school grounds where we can study well. It has a complete library and students were well disciplined on it's proper use.
I am proud of all my professors. As long time practicioners, I am lucky to have been shared with their knowledge and wisdom which they have gained through the years.
My classmates, as well as the whole student body, were very competitive. I was amidst an intelligent bunch of students who inspired and pushed me to strive to do my best.

How long did it take to find a job: I was employed five months after graduation

Why did I choose this school: It is an honor and great opportunity to study in the top one university of the country.

About UP Visayas: UP always exudes an atmosphere of academic freedom. My professors have taught us to be critical and analytic with learning. They gave tons of opportunities to swim in the ocean of life.

My current job: I am a SPED Teacher.

How long did it take to find a job: I was absorbed by a school to work as a Guidance Counselor a day after my graduation.

About UP Visayas: A community of intellectual students, independent and yet easy-going and friendly. The aura of UPV Miagao (My campus) is pleasant and safe; a place to live where everyone knows everyone. And due to the distance from the city, it is easier to forget about the pressures brought about in the city. (Ex. Shopping, Pollution, Parents at home, etc.) But there are also many shops a tricycle ride away to provide you with the necessities one needs for student and dorm life.

The professors:
There are basically two different kinds of professors in UPV; The young, "fresh" grads and the higher-educated (Masters/PhD) professors. The fresh grads are usually easy-going, friendly and approachable. The professors are strict and all the professors I've interacted with in UP show an air of intelligence, but they are pleasant people and approachable, and they help you study for yourself, and do not feed you information; they really help you develop yourself even when at first, you won't be aware of it.

The facilities:
The facilities in UPV are satisfactory; most are poorly maintained and are not enough for all students (especially lab materials/apparatus like analytical balances and ovens). The rooms are spacious enough and conducive for learning. UPV Miagao is near the Miagao plaza where many shops and stores are situated, and are very convenient for UPV students/dormers. Dormitories are very good though, and very well-accommodating.

My current job: I will graduated in April 26, 2013.
After graduation, we still have to take a board exam which usually occurs on September (not sure).

Why did I choose this school: This was considered as a the best state university in Eastern Visayas based in Tacloban city. Most of my friends already graduated from this school and they all told me that this school provides a very high standard of education. I did not doubt them so I enrolled in this school.

About UP Visayas: The school premises lie within the city proper and is very accessible. It has good teachers who are very kind enough not to make our lessons and exams difficult. The school is just a few meters from the Cancabato Bay, there is good ventilation and cool air. The grounds are spacious and the buildings are all concrete. The atmosphere and environment is friendly and safe. There was is an aura of peace and camaraderie among the young students coming from different places in Leyte and Samar provinces.

My current job: I am now employed as an Administrator in a nursing home in California, U.S.A. I manage the daily administrative function and tasks such as maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the place, keeping control of the budget, the personnel, the food, the medical facilities, and so forth.

How long did it take to find a job: It took me a few years before I secured a real job because I got married and waited to be petitioned by my wife who was working as a Nurse in California, U.S.A.

Why did I choose this school: I chose this school because for me, UP is the best school in the Philippines. I believed that I will be trained well and will prepare me for the real world. I also took in consideration the place where I live. This is the best school in Iloilo.

About UP Visayas: The school is indeed an epitome of the place where one learns to become the survival of the fittest. Many challenges are laid down, like the lack of modern facilities and new books for the library as compared to private schools, but it helps the student to be resourceful, as this may as well happen to him in future.

The instructors have taught their students to be independent, to always exercise their thinking processes and to think outside the box as this will be a help in the progress of the country.

My current job: Currently, I work as a web developer, mostly as a back-end developer. In a website, there may be security to impose, forms to fill out, pop-up boxes that appear, gallery slideshows that run, data to fetch. The work of a back-end developer is to make sure that all that are in good working condition, and the data that appear are the ones that are needed.

How long did it take to find a job: My first job after graduation came to me after a month. The month in between my graduation and my first day of work was used for vacation. In short, it was a break after all the hullabaloo in connection with the preparation for complying with the graduation requirements.

About UP Visayas: The professors have different styles of teaching so one has to adjust every time but they are highly knowledgeable on their areas of specialization.

The atmosphere is just perfect for me - green, hilly environment with the near sea forming a scenic view, and buildings located away from each other offering a chance for a leisurely walk whenever possible.

The facilities are great owning to the new opening of the campus at the time I was there.

My current job: Process Control Supervisor at a Fish Farm

How long did it take to find a job: Four months, but that is because I took a 2-month computer training after graduation.

Why did I choose this school: This college offers the best and the brightest teachers in the Leyte-Samar region. The standard and method of teaching in all the U.P. Institutions are similar. Because of this, I chose this school.

About UP Visayas: The school is a government state university and it's campus is located near Magsaysay Boulevard facing the Cancabato Bay. It has a huge area and there is plenty of space for sports, cultural, and other extracurricular activities. There is an aura of youthful competition. The craving for quality education is seen in their actuations. The professors are not only bachelor’s degree holders but also have masteral or doctoral degrees in related courses. Their knowledge and experiences are being passed on to the students. This generous and professional gesture of the teachers brings inspiration and encouragement to the students, most of whom come from distant towns in this region and whose parents expect them to secure a better education. Since there is much space within the campus, the school conducts festive academic and cultural activities as often as possible.

My current job: I am now working in our family’s pawnshop business. I appraise the loanable value of the property. I make sure that the gold jewelries are not fake before releasing the money. I handle money and make the daily cash report.

How long did it take to find a job: I was already working in our family business even before I graduated from college.

Why did I choose this school: UP has always been my dream school. After taking the entrance exam, I really prayed that I can pass it in order to be on this prestigious school.

About UP Visayas: Even though that was our condition during the time that I was studying, the professors had made me aware and be the best that I can be in this field.

My current job: I am currently a sales adviser in a car delearship in our place. My work involves producing or selling cars to clients and letting them know all the specs of the unit that they are going to buy.

How long did it take to find a job: It just took about a month after graduation that I was hired.

Why did I choose this school: UP is the best. It may be for me and for my friends. But it really is the best and incomparable with others.

About UP Visayas: I can describe UP as a school with the best educators and instructors. I have learned a lot even beyond my course. Learning is not only brought about by best facilities but nevertheless, it is brought about by the best professors.

My current job: I am currently an operations Assistant and Entrepreneur in a prestigious company in Manila and I really do love my job in serving the operations of the company. My work is in assisting the operations of the company.

How long did it take to find a job: Since I graduated from UP and I think it is because of that reason that I got a job. I really did not had any difficulty in finding a job.

About UP Visayas: It was a great school with very competent professors who knew their fields inside and out. We also have recently upgraded our facilities and have greatly improved the quality of education in our department. The department I was in felt like we were all brothers and sisters and there was a great sense of community in the university.
