Computer Science courses offered at UP Visayas
Admission Requirements - Freshmen:
A. Graduates of accredited high schools may be admitted as freshmen into the University of the Philippines on the following bases:
1. Their performance in the UP College Admission Test (UPCAT);
2. Their weighted average in the first three years of high school ; and
3. Their choice of UP campus and the quotas for specific degree programs/colleges set by the University.
B. Holders of the Philippine Educational Placement Test (PEPT) certificates in lieu of high school diploma may be admitted to the University as new freshmen provided they pass the UPCAT.
C. Entrance Credentials for Incoming Freshmen Who are UPCAT Qualifiers
1. Original copy of High School card (Form 138) duly signed by the Principal and bearing the remark: Graduated and Eligible for Admission to College
2. Secondary Permanent Record (Form 137) with remarks Graduated and Eligible for Admission to College and Copy for UPVisayas (Official request can be downloaded at http://crs.upv.edu.ph);
3. Original Certificate of Live Birth issued by NSO;
4. Two identical 2x2 colored pictures with name and signature at the back. Scanned photos are not acceptable;
5. Medical Certificate issued by the UPV Health Services Unit;
6. Student Directory to be signed by the student at the OUR;
7. (For qualifiers with SBP requirement only) Certificate of Attendance/Completion (for Math), Certification with Conforme (for English), and both certificates (for Math & English); and
8. UPV Form C2 (Bracket Certification) and photocopy of Income Tax Return for the latest previous year for those who have a gross annual family income of P 500,001 P1,000,000.00. A photocopy of parents' Income Tax Return for the latest previous year is required for those who have a gross annual family income of more than P1,000,000.00. Present original ITR for verification.
Admission Requirements - Transferees:
A. Transfer from another institution, non-degree, special student
Every new transfer applicant should submit the following at least one month prior to registration:
1. An accomplished application form (UP Form 3.1)
2. Attach an official copy of grades from each college attended signed by the Registrar or his/her authorized representative; or Official Transcript of Records (containing complete grades) with remarks "for evaluation purposes only" (1 original & 2 photocopies)
3. A non-refundable application fee of P100.00 to the UPV cash Office
All qualified applicants whose applications have been processed by the OUR and evaluated by the concerned units must submit the following before they are finally accepted and issued the University Admission Slip:
1. Official Transcript of Records - for NT, ND, & SD only
2. Certificate of Transfer Credentials or Honorable Dismissal - for NT, ND, & SD only
3. Medical Certificate from UP Health Services Unit
4. NSO Copy of Birth Certificate
5. NSO Copy of Marriage Contract (for married female applicants only)
6. 2 pcs. 2x2 or passport-sized photographs
7. Student Directory Form
B. Transfer from within UP System
The University of the Philippines Visayas is accepting transferees from other U.P. Units provided he/she qualified in the following basic criteria for transfer:
1. Completed at least 30 academic units from previous U.P. Unit;
2. Academic status is good standing
To apply, please send the following documents for evaluation purposes to the Office of the University Registrar, U.P. Visayas, Miagao, Iloilo:
1. U.P. Form 3.1 or Undergraduate Application Form
2. Original True copy of grades (1 original & 2 photocopies)
3. Application fee of P100.00 (pay at the UPV Cash Office or send a postal money order payable to UP Visayas, addressed to Miagao, Iloilo)
All qualified applicants whose applications have been processed by the OUR and evaluated by the concerned units must submit the following before they are finally accepted and issued the University Admission Slip:
1. (original) University & College Clearances
2. (original) permit to transfer
3. (original) True Copy of Grades for those who are transfering from another UPV unit or Official Transcript of Records for those coming from other autonomous units
4. (original) NSO Copy of Birth Certificate
5. (original) Medical Certificate from UPV Physician (Bring results of urinalysis, fecalysis, CBC & chest X-ray to UPV Infirmary (for Miagao-based student/UPV Health Services unit (for Iloilo-Based student)
6. Student Directory Form (from UPV-Office of the University Registrar)
7. 2 pcs. 2x2 colored pictures
Admission Requirements - Foreign Students:
A. Required Documents for Purposes of Evaluation and Issuance of Notice of Admission
1) U.P. Form 3.2 (Undergraduate Admission Application for Foreign Applicants)
2) A non-refundable application fee of P150 for resident foreign students and US$20 for non-resident foreign students in money order, cashier's or manager's check payable to the U.P. Visayas. Exchange Student with MOA is exempted from payment of application fee.
3) Official Transcript of Records from each college attended and official examination certificates, if any (2 copies) - for all student types.
4) Course syllabus, school catalogue, and handbook of examination. (2 copies) - for NT & SD only
5) Certification from a reputable bank in the applicant's country about his capability to finance the travel, educational, personal and other expenses he is expected to incur in his studies in the Philippines/Statement of Funding Support. (2 copies) - for NT, ND, & SD.
6) Official TOEFL results with a minimum score of 500, if paper based, or 173, if computer based or 61 if internet based is also required of an applicant whose medium of instruction in school/s he attended is not English. Otherwise, the student shall submit a certification that English is the medium of instruction from the school he attended - for NT & SD only
7) Copies of birth certificate and for married female applicant, marriage contract - for NT, ND, SD, & SS only
8) Valid passport, the pages showing the name, number, picture, date & place of birth, date and place of issuance, visa and authorized stay.•
9) Two passport size 2x2 photos.
10) Alien Certificate of Registration -“ i-card.
• Special Students, Non-Degree and Cross Registrants may apply for Bureau of Immigration Special Study Permit (BISSP)in lieu of student visa 9 (f) or other acceptable visa types. Exchange Students are required to apply for either 47 (a) (2) visa or the BISSP. New Transfer & Second Degree applicants who wish to earn a degree at UPV should apply for Student Visa 9 (f) or other acceptable visas.
B. All qualified applicants whose applications have been processed by the OUR and evaluated by the concerned units must submit the following before they are finally accepted and issued the University Admission Slip:
1) Official Copy of Transcript of Records - for CR, NT, ND, & SD only
2) Permit to Cross-Enroll - for CR only
3) Accomplished Student Directory -for all student types
4) 2 pcs. Recent photos (2x2 or passport-sized) - for all student types
5) Medical Certificate from UP Health Services Unit - for all student types
6) Birth Certificate with English Translation - for all student types
7) Marriage Certificate with English Translation (if any), for married female applicant - for all student types
8) Official TOEFL results, if applicable - for NT, ND & SD only.
9) Valid passport, the pages showing the name, number, picture, date & place of birth, date and place of issuance, acceptable visa and authorized stay (photocopy & original) - for all student types
10) Alien Certificate of Registration - i-card.
If credentials submitted are confirmed to be spurious, admission will be revoked.
1. Two (2) copies of duly accomplished application forms (3 copies for CFOS programs) ;
2. Original and two (2) photocopies of official transcript of records of undergraduate (and graduate degree/s if any);
3. Certificate of Honorable Dismissal/Transfer Credential from the latest school attended;
4. One (1) original National Statistics Office (NSO) copy or certified transcription copy from the Local Civil Registrar of birth certificate;
5. One (1) original NSO copy or certified transcription copy from the Local Civil Registrar of marriage contract (for married female applicant);
6. Two (2) recent 2x2 pictures;
7. Two (2) letters of recommendation from former professors and/or supervisors; and
8. Certificate of English Proficiency for foreign applicants from countries where English is not the medium of instruction.
Application for admission should be submitted at least one (1) month before enrollment period.

This school is included under the "Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education" law that passed in 2017.
The law covers students enrolled in State and Local universities/colleges in Bachelors and Certificate programs.
Under the Law students in accredited State and Local universities/colleges will not pay any tuition fees or misc fee.
The Law covers only first time students (students who don't already have a college degree).
However, the full implementation of this law is not clear yet.
