Course description:
The Associate in Arts (AA) program is a 60-unit liberal arts program at the undergraduate level. It qualifies individuals to pursue a Bachelor’s degree, whether in the sciences or the arts.
Objectives
The program aims to:
• Broaden the students’ intellectual and cultural horizons;
• Foster a commitment of nationalism balanced by a sense of internationalism;
• Cultivate a capacity for independent, critical, and creative thinking;
• Infuse a passion for learning with a high sense of moral and intellectual integrity;
• Develop self-motivated learners with independent learning skills that will enable them to successfully complete their undergraduate education via the distance mode; and
• Provide a generalist type of basic tertiary education that will also develop competencies in communication and computer use.
Mode of Instruction
All courses are taught online following the principles of guided independent study and collaborative inquiry.
Admission requirements:
To be considered for admission, an applicant must:
1. Be a high school graduate or must have passed the Philippine Educational Placement Test (PEPT)
1. Have passed the Undergraduate Assessment Test (UgAT)
The UgAt is designed to assess both the applicant’s scholastic aptitude and capability to undertake independent learning.
Those who had previously passed the UP College Admission Test (UPCAT) need not take the UgAT.
(Also, applicants may or may not have earned college credits.)
