Why did I choose this school:
My mom did not want me to study in Diliman because she was afraid that I would join rallies. During that time, there were a lot of news about college students being killed solely because of participation in protests so she has a basis of that fear. So no matter how much I wanted to ride an Ikot jeep going to school, the saying, "Mothers know best" prevailed. And I did not regret following her because, I think, it's also where God wanted me to be. (Yes, not all UP students are atheists.)
About UP Manila:
The ambiance is so-so. UPM is located in the busy streets of Manila (i.e., Padre Faura and Pedro Gil) so there's noise and air pollution all around.
The instructors and professors are all knowledgeable about the subjects they teach. Some are even unexpectedly friendly and humorous.
With regard to the facilities, I can say that the ones in UPM, at least in my stay there, were not on par with those of (insert the name of a distinguished school here). Our batch was the last one to pay tuition fee that is equal to the weekly allowance of an Atenista (Pardon my stereotype), before UP imposed a whopping 300% increase. So I think it was understandable why our school couldn't afford to buy new equipment. But despite it all, I was already grateful that our classrooms were air-conditioned.
My current job:
I am a Turnover Administration Associate for a real estate company.
I speak with clients and help them with their concerns.
How long did it take to find a job:
Less than a month. I was in dire need of a job after graduation. I uploaded my resume online and was surprised that a lot of companies wanted to hire a non-cum laude alumnus like me.
