A complete application, which must be submitted in a long brown envelope with the applicant’s printed name (surname first) written in pencil only, includes the following:

1. A properly accomplished application form of the U.P. College of Medicine. Application forms will be made available upon cash payment of an application fee which is NON-REFUNDABLE.

• P1,500 for Filipino applicants

• $200 for foreign applicants

Note: The Application Form is valid only for the Academic Year applied for.

2. ORIGINAL/OFFICIAL Transcript of Records for at least the first three and one half (3-1/2) years of the Baccalaureate Program.

3. Four copies of 2x2 pictures signed by the applicant on the front of the picture.

4. Certified true copy of NSO Birth Certificate. (A photocopy is acceptable provided the original is shown for verification).

5. Original Certificate of Naturalization for naturalized Filipino citizens. ONLY original Certificates of Naturalization and other documents issued by the Commission on Immigration and Deportation shall be acceptable. Applicants with PENDING naturalization papers and documents are NOT eligible for admission.

6. Latest True copy of Income Tax Returns (ITR) of both parents.
(A photocopy is acceptable provided the original is shown for verification)

7. Original plus a photocopy of the NMAT result.

8. DOST Clearance for students who have availed of DOST scholarships in college.

Applicants who have obtained their Baccalaureate degree during the first semester or earlier are encouraged to submit their complete applications before the deadline to facilitate the processing of their applications.

Course description:
The Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) program is designed to meet this need. It is primarily oriented to prepare professionals who will occupy key positions in teaching, research and administration in the health sciences. Graduates of the program are expected to make substantive contribution to new knowledge that is relevant to the needs of developing countries.

Specifically, at the end of the program, the DrPH graduates should be able to:

Demonstrate the use of scientific methods and tools of inquiry to study various health and related issues given the socio-economic, political and cultural dynamics of a particular situation and utilize such findings;

• Demonstrate the ability to plan, implement, evaluate and document a research and development project;

• Demonstrate the ability to advocate desirable health policy development activities and effectively influence decision-making; and

• Demonstrate the ability to apply theories and strategies of behavioral and structure changes within one’s organization

Fields of Specialization

Students of the program may choose from any of the following major areas of specialization:

• Biostatistics•
• Epidemiology
• Health Promotion and Education
• Medical Microbiology
• Nutirition
• Parasitology

Admission requirements:
1. MPH/MSPH degree or any equivalent preparation relevant to the field of concentration from a recognized institution of higher learning. Those with Masters' degree other than MPH/MSPH must have at least 2 years of experience in public health.

2. Excellent performance in the masters' program, with emphasis on courses in the field of specialization.

3. Must have demonstrated evidence of competence in the area of specialization, through written examination or interview administered by the DrPH Program Committee.

4. Submission of an essay describing the applicant's previous and current work and an explanation of how the DrPH program is relevant to his future career.

5. Letters of recommendation from two previous professors or employers.

6. Must be 45 years old and below except in meritorious cases.
