Why did I choose this school: I spent my foundation years in Ateneo de Davao University and I was supposed to go to the same school for college. However, I wanted a new environment. I wanted to know how it is to be an "Iskolar ng Bayan".

About UP Mindanao: UP Mindanao is a young and small campus, with a student population of more or less a thousand. It is located far from the heart of the city and there are only a few establishments near the area. This makes the surroundings conducive for learning as there are minimal distractions compared to universities located downtown. Besides, this set-up allows for a tighter bond among the students.

UP Mindanao, just like any other UP campus, values freedom and open-mindedness. UP education inculcates in us "Iskolars ng Bayan" the need not only to be academically competent, but to be socially aware and responsive to the needs of our countrymen. Differences are tolerated, and every student is encouraged to be who he/she wants to be. In UP, we are shaped to be persons who ought to genuinely serve the people.

The professors are also one of a kind. They push us to our limits and through that, we are able to unleash our greatest potentials. Our instructors teach us that there is no easy way or shortcut to success.

Currently, UP Mindanao is improving in terms of infrastructure and facilities. The science laboratories and some classrooms, for instance, are being renovated. Still, there is a lack of facilities especially for the science courses, but we are hopeful that the new administration is looking into that. Furthermore, given the vast area around the campus, there are many places for the students to study, rest, and socialize.

My current job: I am still about to start my job as a professor (Instructor 4) at UP Mindanao. Along with the teaching load is a protected time for research, with the goal of publishing a study within one or two years.

How long did it take to find a job: The Dean offered me this job beforehand, while I was still doing my undergraduate thesis. Fortunately I didn't have (and I didn't want) to apply for another job after graduation.

Why did I choose this school: UP Mindanao was not my first choice for my undergraduate course. However, due to financial limitations, I had to settle for the grandest college that my parents can afford.

About UP Mindanao: UP Mindanao is situated far from the busy streets and hassles of Davao City. It gives off a vibe of freedom and excellence, in my opinion.

The professors are highly expectant of their students. They push you beyond your limits which you never thought you could actually achieve.

Although education in my university is difficult, it all pays off because personally, I have become more flexible and more versatile with the stresses of the world. Moreover, I have developed my cognitive skills to their fullest, or so I believe.

Aside from the professors who provide quality education, the facilities of UP Mindanao are adequate and efficient for learning. Although we do not luxuriously sit in air-conditioned classrooms and we do not have rentable iPads in our library, we are able to get by with furnished libraries and even laboratories equipped with LCD screens. There are also a lot of gazebos and places conducive for both resting and studying.

My current job: I am currently a medical student in one of the top 10 medical schools in the Philippines. I have decided to pursue medicine after graduation.

Why did I choose this school: I choose UP because it gives me chances that I’ll be respected by my colleagues regardless of my chosen discipline. The reason is that no other university out there can claim to have produced the largest number of both National Scientists and National Artists, that's why I'd choose to study in this particular University.

About UP Mindanao: The ambiance was very good it has a cold temper that made the students study harder.

The professors were very kind, adorable, respected, and amazing teachers, they were leading professors in the whole country.

My current job: I am working at Department of Agrarian Reforms that acts at the Accounting Department and leads for the new transformation of land forestry.

How long did it take to find a job: It only took a week after the gradation and the On-Job Training, before I got to my job until now.

About UP Mindanao: It's the best. Academic Freedom in its physical form. Although during our time, transportation was really difficult, but now progress has finally reached the grounds of UP Mindanao as it has now its own "Ikot" jeeps and paved roads.

The teachers are a mixture of passive and active, but the bottomline is that after the semester, you leave the room filled with knowledge.

My current job: I'm an Assessment Psychologist

How long did it take to find a job: A month after.

Why did I choose this school: Who on earth does not want to study in the the premiere university of the Republic of the Philippines? :)

About UP Mindanao: Atmosphere - intelligent people all around me.
Professors - they are direct to the point; do not like entertainment most of the time during classes.
Facilities - mostly complete but of course, still needs improvement; low internet connection.

My current job: I am a Government Employee.

How long did it take to find a job: It took me two months.
