Admission requirements:
To qualify for admission to the philosophy MA program, the applicant must hold a baccalaureate degree from the University or from any other recognized higher institution of learning, preferably with philosophy or any related field as a specialization. As a matter of practice, the department does not require any specific grade point average as a condition for admission.
Evaluation of applicants preparedness for graduate work in philosophy is determined by the department on a case-to-case basis. Applicants must indicate in their application letter their field of interest within Philosophy (e.g. Epistemology, Ethics, Philosophy of Science, Philosophy of Language, etc.) and a problem in this area that they propose to investigate.

A. Doctoral students are required to take and pass the Doctoral Admission Test in Education (DATE) before they are admitted provisionally for a period of one-semester course work or it's equivalent, after which said credits are evaluated.
For formal admission to the doctoral program, a student must have:

PhD in Philosophy

Admission requirements:
To qualify for admission to the philosophy Ph.D graduate program, the applicant must hold a Masters degree in Philosophy or a related field such as Theology, Sociology, Political Science, Mathematics, and others. Submit a letter of application, addressed to the Admissions Committee, indicating why you wish to pursue a doctorate in Philosophy, and defining your area (s) of interest in philosophy or, better, a specific problem that could become the subject of a doctoral dissertation.
Requirements
1. A certified copy of your undergraduate and graduate transcripts of records
2. A sample of your written work in philosophy, which may consist in a term paper written for a graduate course in Philosophy, or a published article on a philosophical topic
3. Three letters of recommendation from former professors (for non-U.P. M.a. Graduates; U.P. Graduates must submit two letters of recommendation) 4. Pay an application fee of Php100 5. Original NSO birth certificate
You may also be required to submit to an interview, and/or to take an essay exam. The essay exam will consist in writing an on-the-spot essay on a topic to be determined by the Admissions Committee, but according to your background in philosophy. Applicants who have not written a Masters thesis in philosophy may be required to submit more than one sample of their written work in philosophy; this will be determined by the Admissions Committee upon receipt of your application documents.

Admission Requirements - Freshmen:
Graduates of foreign and Philippine high schools accredited by the Department of Education (DepEd) may be admitted as freshmen into the University based on the following:
1. Performance in the UP College Admission Test (UPCAT); and
2. Weighted average of final grades obtained in high school.
A total combined score of 1,200 for the verbal and mathematics subtests in the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) will also qualify an applicant for automatic admission as freshman to the University.

Admission Requirements - Transferees:
1. A certified true copy of grades (TCG) and 3 photocopies, from each college attended for evaluation, regardless of his intentions to validate his advance credits (classcards are not accepted). The TCG should be signed by the Registrar or his/her authorized representative;
Do not apply for an honorable dismissal unless you have been accepted into a program.
2. An accomplished application form (UP Form 3) which may be obtained from the Admission and Registration Section, Office of the University Registrar (OUR) upon presentation of the TCG. You are allowed to apply in not more than three (3) programs.
3. Two passport-sized photographs; and
4. A non-refundable fee of Php. 100.00 for Filipinos (Php.150.00 for resident foreign applicants or US$20 for non-resident foreign applicants).
All qualified applicants whose applications have been processed by the OUR and evaluated by the concerned units must submit the following before they are finally accepted and issued the University Admission Slip:

Final admission will be subject to verification of documents submitted against the original copies of credentials. Certified English translations should also be submitted, where necessary.
Applications accompanied by photocopies of academic records not properly authenticated will not be processed.
2. Two written recommendations from former professors or experts in the field;
3. Duly accomplished application for admission form, including two (2) passport-size photographs;
4. Marriage contract (for married women applicants);

This school is included under the "Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education" law that passed in 2017.
The law covers students enrolled in State and Local universities/colleges in Bachelors and Certificate programs.
Under the Law students in accredited State and Local universities/colleges will not pay any tuition fees or misc fee.
The Law covers only first time students (students who don't already have a college degree).
However, the full implementation of this law is not clear yet.
