UP ALPHA Sigma Fraternity Scholarship The UP Alpha Sigma Fraternity Scholarship requires that the student must not be a member of any fraternity or sorority unless the fraternity or sorority is the Alpha Sigma Fraternity, Sigma Alpha Sorority and Sigma Alpha Nu Sorority. He/she must have an average of " 1.76 or better and must have carried a load of at least 15 units. The benefits of this scholarship include: school fees as assessed but not exceeding P6,000 per semester, book allowance of P1,500 per semester, a monthly stipend of P3,500, and transportation expenses of P1,000 per month. UP Class 1958 Intercollege Foundation Scholarship A student enrolled in any four-or-five year degree program with a general weighted average (GWA) of at least 2.5" for the past three years immediately preceding the application may apply for this scholarship. He must belong to Socialized Tuition and Financial Assistance Program (STFAP) brackets 1-4 and must write a short essay not exceeding one page on "Why I should be awarded the scholarship". The benefits of this scholarship include: book allowance of P2,500 per semester, monthly stipend of P3,000 and transportation allowance of P1,500 per semester. Philips Group of Companies Scholarship A student who must be at least a 3rd year student and enrolled in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering may apply for this scholarship. He must have not acquired a grade of 4.00 or 5.00 during the past two semesters. A total amount of P9,000 is given per semester to the awardee of this scholarship. Francisco Licuanan Scholarship The applicant must be an Electrical Engineering student, freshman or sophomore, has a GWA of at least 2.5 in the semester immediately preceding the application, and the annual gross income of parents does not exceed P100,000. The benefits of this scholarship include: school fees of P4,500 per semester, book allowance of P1,000 per semester and a supplementary allowance of P2,000 per semester. X close PhD in Electrical and Electronics Engineering Course description: The Doctor of Philosophy in Electrical and Electronics Engineering program (Ph.D. EEE) would require students to make an original contribution to the fundamental knowledge in the field through dissertation, which is expected to take about a year for full-time students and about two years for part-time students. Full-time students are expected to complete the requirements in two years and part-time students in three years. Admission requirements:

A. Master’s Degree Program

Admission into a Master’s program shall require:

1. A bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution of higher learning;

2. Intellectual capacity & aptitude for advanced studies & research;

3. Language proficiency;

4. Satisfaction of additional University requirements such as a health clearance and other special admission requirements that may be imposed by the head of the unit concerned and/or appropriate Graduate Committee/ Office, through channels.

B. Doctoral Degree Program

For admission to a doctoral program, an applicant must satisfy the following minimum requirements for admission:

1. Possession of a bachelor’s degree, in the case of a direct doctoral program, or a master’s degree or it's equivalent from a recognized institution of higher learning;

2. Intellectual capacity & aptitude for advanced studies & research;

3. Language proficiency; and

4. A health certificate and other additional and special admission requirements that may be imposed by the University and the head of the College/unit or Graduate Office/Committee concerned, through channels.

In order that application for admission may be processed, the following documents should be submitted directly to the respective college offering the intended program.

1. Oficial transcript of academic record of undergraduate work (and graduate work, if any) – one original and two photocopies;

For evaluation purposes, photocopies of records may be accepted provided they are properly authenticated (in the case of foreign applicants, by the Department of Education or by duly designated authorities in the country of the applicant). Final admission will be subject to verification of documents submitted against the original copies of credentials. Certified English translations should also be submitted, where necessary.

Applications accompanied by photocopies of academic records not properly authenticated will not be processed.

2. Two written recommendations from former professors or experts in the field;

3. Duly accomplished application for admission form, including two (2) passport-size photographs;

4. Marriage contract (for married women applicants);

5. Certification of English/Filipino language proficiency;

6. A non-refundable application fee (minimum of P100.00 for Filipino citizens, P200.00 for resident aliens, and US$25.00 for non-resident aliens, depending on the college).

Credentials filed in support of the application become the property of the University of the Philippines and will not be returned to the applicant. A. Master’s Degree Program
