Why did I choose this school: Coming from a sectarian school from Bulacan, I wished to be in a sectarian university, if not one of the best one to take up medicine and architecture.

About University of Santo Tomas: I have to say that the atmosphere was very conducive and intimate. The university campus covers 20+ hectares of land, accessible by main thoroughfare roads. It is unlike the vast areas of the University of the Philippines and Ateneo de Manile University that buildings are so far apart, and unlike Far Eastern University and De La Salle University which buildings are crammed to each other if not accessible through high traffic streets.

The professors are mixed academe and practicing which makes the shared knowledge to students as actual as it can get.

The facilities I must say were up to the needs of the students, having our own gym that can host UAAP games, own student center building, a vast collection books from our library building of 5 floors, and the parks dot the compound every so often.

My current job: Currently I work as freelance construction manager and designer.
Construction manager makes thing happen at the site, from studying the timeline of the construction project until turning over the building to the owner.
Designer basically puts you on putting into paper your client's needs and wants and being the technical person to discuss this with other trades such as engineers and interior designers.

How long did it take to find a job: I was actually hired for a job a month before I graduated.

Why did I choose this school: Because it's one of the best schools in our country.

About University of Santo Tomas: The atmosphere - It's one of the reasons why I enjoyed my college life. I love being surrounded with many people and since UST is a big university, the crowded atmosphere pleased me. There is just one thing that I hate though, the FLOOD every time it rains because UST, just like what everybody say, is "madaling bahain". This thing always ruin my mood of attending classes. Before you reach the classroom, even during moderate rains, your shoes and socks are wet already. The surroundings are also not pleasurable during these times.

The professors - they were all intelligent, friendly and respectable. They don't waste time. They make sure that you've learned something before the subject ends. They also know how to mingle with students outside the class with balance and limitation.

My current job: Flight Attendant.

About University of Santo Tomas: UST has a very historic past which is literally shown by the way the buildings are built and structured. It has complete facilities. One classroom is equal to one Audio Visual Room which enables the students to understand more and have interactive learning. Classrooms are fully air conditioned. The beauty of UST is purely timeless and elegant. The professors are industry professionals with masteral and doctorate degree. I can say that the professors there are worth every peso you are paying for because they know what they are teaching to their students. One thing I do really like about UST is the numerous events it offers the Thomasian community. UST makes sure that after every hard-work each student has done, there would be a time to reward each of us through play like parties etc. The Thomasian welcome is very warm.

My current job: I am a Research Analyst at Republic Biscuit Corporation. I do technical research on market data and determine the veracity of the data gathered.

How long did it take to find a job: It took me 2 months to find my ideal and right job after graduation. I could say that there was a lot of offers and calls even before graduation but of course, I still had to consider standards before accepting the job offer.

Why did I choose this school: Only a few universities offer Literature as a course. UST offers reasonable tuition fee. Second, CHED declared UST's AB Literature as a Center of Excellence, the highest level for CHED's accreditation.

About University of Santo Tomas: The ambiance is refreshing since there are plenty of trees. Also, security inside the campus is a plus since there are guards roaming and watching the traffic inside. The ambiance is very homely and intimate despite it is a huge university.

Teachers give reasonable workloads such as assignments, exams and research. Teachers are friendly, you can easily greet them along the corridors with a beaming smile.

My current job: I am a content writer for a Korean company that provides web hosting solutions. I write product reviews and descriptions. Also, I am working part-time as an article writer for blogs situated in USA.

How long did it take to find a job: I got hired even before I graduated. We were given 2 weeks break before graduation, I applied and luckily, got hired.

Why did I choose this school: I've studied in a catholic school since kindergarten, so I had this desire to study in a catholic university in college so I can continue nurturing my spiritual knowledge as well.

About University of Santo Tomas: A great environment to cultivate your skills, expertise, spiritual knowledge and character as well. There's so many things to learn from the professors that goes even beyond the scope of the course. Minus the frequent occurrence of flood, (which is manageable by staying near UST haha) the school's facilities are well maintained and conducive for a productive learning journey.

My current job: I'm currently happily employed as a Junior Associate for Operations here in Singapore. Within 2 years I'll be studying operation processes and at the same time implement improvement projects towards lean and efficient resources management.

How long did it take to find a job: It took me about one month to find my first job.

Why did I choose this school: Good reputation.

About University of Santo Tomas: The atmosphere was very conducive to studying. Professors were professional and well-versed, but I wished some knew how to adjust to the level of the students in terms of lecturing and giving exams.

My current job: Regulatory pharmacist.
We are in charge of preparing and submitting scientific dossiers and technical documents to the regulating agency/ies for the registration of our products. We serve as the liaison between the pharmaceutical company and the government regulating bodies. We need to make sure that our company is following the rules and regulations set by the regulators. We need to keep our documents well for future reference and for any issue that may arise in any product. We coordinate with different persons internally and externally.

How long did it take to find a job: 3 months after passing the board exam.

Why did I choose this school: I chose this college of medicine because it has a hospital in it's campus where the students can do the practical training or internship.

About University of Santo Tomas: The college of medicine has a big population of students. Probably this school has the most number of medical students in the Philippines because of Its track record as a medical school that is the alma mater of very popular and well-known doctors in the Philippines and abroad. The school has big and spacious buildings and a huge campus where the students can have time to relax after each class. Its library is full but for research purpose I went there.
The professors in our faculty were directors and chiefs of private and government hospitals. Their experience made us learn the practical things that happen in the real world.

My current job: I am now a practicing pediatrician in a big hospital and I have also my clients in my private clinic in New Jerse. I see to it that all my patients are treated and become well again.

How long did it take to find a job: It took me a year after graduation before I worked in a hospital because I had to pass the board exam first.

Why did I choose this school: From what I have heard, UST excels in science courses. Nutrition and Dietetics is a branch of Science.

About University of Santo Tomas: It is nice being in the campus. The place are with trees, gardens, and combinations of old and new building structures.
The professors are very knowledgeable about the subject matter and are very fun to be with.
UST ensures that every facility and learning equipment are in good and proper working condition.

My current job: I work as a Nutrition Officer at the City Government of Malolos.
We deal with children below 6 years old and focus on public health, one of the three major fields of Nutrition. It deals with ensuring proper health and nutrition for all, but we are more concerned with children under 6 years old.

How long did it take to find a job: I graduated on March of 2009 and took a licensure examination on July of the same year. It took me 8 months after passing the board examination before landing my first and current job I mentioned above.

About University of Santo Tomas: University of Santo Tomas is a great university in the Philippines. Besides the fact that it is included in the top four universities in the Philippines, I believe they hone students to be at par or even the best to each field by having and teaching everything you need from facilities, to professors and atmosphere. Values education is a key foundation the university also values being a Catholic University in the Philippines.

My current job: Engineering Consultant for Environmental Compliance / Quality Management Engineer

How long did it take to find a job: After passing the board examinations, in less than a week I had a job offer from a famous Multinational Electronics Company.

About University of Santo Tomas: The university gave me a great experience. The location might be questionable, for it is located at a busy, noisy, polluted city, but once you enter the premises it leaves you wondering if you are in a different world, those trees, landscapes, and parks, made studying outside the class comfortable.

The professors are great, they have the mastery of what they are teaching, very friendly outside classes, and personally they have the heart to give grace when my performance doesn't even equate to a passing grade.

I could never ask for more with their facilities, they seem to upgrade it every year. And my favorite part of it is their library, particular with the architecture/humanities section, they purchase 3 additional books almost every month. Great!

My current job: By God's grace I am now a practicing licensed architect.

How long did it take to find a job: 2 months. I took a summer vacation right after graduation.

Why did I choose this school: Aside from being one of the best universities in the country, UST is also known for having a very good school for architecture. This university is close to my heart since this is where most of my architect uncles took their architectural studies. UST being a catholic university, I'm at home here since I also came from a catholic highschool.

About University of Santo Tomas: Ambiance:
Life in the university can be a bit crowded at times but you can find spots you can hang and study. There are parks and sitting areas in shade trees you can sit and have group discussions. The overall ambiance is quite relaxing and safe in-spite of being located in the middle of the city.

Professors / instructors:
Most of the professors are friendly and approachable. Some are very accommodating when asked about lessons and further improvement of design and research on school work related subjects.

My current job: Principal Architect / Managing Director of a small multi-disciplinary design consultancy firm which offers architecture, engineering and environmental management. Being the principal architect, I'm the chief designer and main representative consultant of the company for all projects. Having a knowledge of all trades not only thru my experience but thru my education has helped me achieve this position.

How long did it take to find a job: A month after. But you need at least 2 years as mandated by law to have an apprenticeship prior taking your board exams. So, the first couple of years of working was really tough and challenging. Low wages and long, long, long hours of work.

Why did I choose this school: I chose this school because it is one of the most famous schools in the country. I am a regional science high school graduate so it was just wise to go to a reputable school for college. I passed the entrance exams of other schools but chose UST because the tuition fee is not that expensive compared to la salle which is my second choice. First choice was University of the Philippines but I did not pass in the Metro Manila campuses.

About University of Santo Tomas: The university itself has a lot of history and is actually a good looking school. It has a church a park and a lot of food stores all around it. Our college building is not that modern looking but it was okay since classrooms have AC's. The schedule is also great since I only have to go to school on half day. There was a time when I applied for a part time job since my schedule is only in the morning.

Like any other schools some professors are great but there are some whom I think should be reviewed since I don't think they are good enough to handle students and certain subjects they are teaching.

My current job: I am now a stay at home mom for a month, but my most recent job was a Marketing assistant position for a distribution company.
I was assigned to be Marketing assistant for an incoming sports brand here in the country. I have to take care of all the marketing programs for the brand, in-store and online. I also handle the social media accounts of this brand and partnership with bloggers and celebrities as well as sports enthusiast. I do competitor reports and market research for the brand.

How long did it take to find a job: It took me four months after graduation to land a job.

Why did I choose this school: It was my dream to go to Ateneo for College and Law school. However, both my parents were UST graduates, therefore they encouraged me to go to UST instead for my undergraduate years.

About University of Santo Tomas: UST is an old school. Established from way back when, some of the facilities have been there longer than I've been alive. But still, the university still tries to make it as good as it can be. I like the ambiance inside the campus. However, I am especially annoyed during rainy season since our area easily gets flooded.

In terms of the professors and their teaching capabilities, they were really good. The were respectable and professional and have built a good reputation for our college.

My current job: I am an audit supervisor in an accounting firm.

How long did it take to find a job: 2 months after graduation.

Why did I choose this school: I love UST. End. Kidding aside, one of the reasons is because it is practical- affordability and location. In my opinion, UST offers the best advertising program in the country.

About University of Santo Tomas: Recently the campus felt crowded as some of the open spaces were replaced by new buildings and facilities. On the brighter side, it has made the students from different colleges create camaraderie. One great characteristic of UST is that it has a sense of community and the feeling of belonging because the students came from all walks of life.

As for the instructors, I can only speak of our faculty in Fine Arts. They are passionate, competitive and humble.

My current job: I am a graphic designer and a photographer.

I usually create layout, typography and branding. A graphic designer must know how to interpret a concept, visualize, art direct and execute ideas that conform as to how the client would want to sell his product/service. There should always be balance between creativity and marketing for a project's success. As for photography- I cover events. Taking pictures with good composition is not enough in events photography. The photographer must be able to capture ALL the important events from start to finish. It is very tough and challenging but the feeling of accomplishment is very rewarding.

How long did it take to find a job: It took me less thank a month after graduation to land my first job - just enough time to build my portfolio. It was definitely a sink or swim situation.

About University of Santo Tomas: The school radiates with the aura of an 16th century European town since it was built during the era of the Spanish Occupation. Graven images of saints and angels stand proudly on the rooftop of the Main Building, and a large blue crucifix is lit up by nighttime in this Catholic university.

The professors are well-rounded within their respective fields, yet they adhere to the Christian values of the administration out of both respect and fear. Any dissent is immediately called out and reprimanded.

In the last five years, the university has undergone major changes: a two-floor parking building, an extension of the park, the enlargement of the Architecture building and better drainage for floods during the rainy season.

My current job: Freelancer writer and sound engineer.

How long did it take to find a job: Two months.

Why did I choose this school: UST is one of the most prestigious schools in the Philippines.

About University of Santo Tomas: UST offers a student-friendly environment. You are assured that it is safe within the vicinity of the university. The students, professors, staffs, and guards are very friendly. The campus has it's certain beauty that you will not be able to see in other universities.

There is an evident diversity in terms of the professors. There are professors who are still practicing the traditional way of teaching while others are opting for an interactive outcome-based class. Most are strict while others are lenient.

It is a fact that the facilities in the university are top-notched. In each classroom, there's a fixed LCD projector and pull-out screen. In our college, the air conditioners and armchairs are new. There're also CCTVs in each classroom, corridors, and the whole vicinity of the campus. The science laboratories (chemistry, physics and biology labs) are well-ventilated and have all the necessaries laboratory instruments that the students need. We also have our own psychology laboratory for our experimental psychology activities.

My current job: I'm currently on my first year in medicine in PLM College of Medicine. (Yep, I opted to choose the hardest path.)

Why did I choose this school: This school was really a bastion of education and it's name was synonymous with “excellence”. The college of law had teachers known nationwide. Graduating from this school was an honor. It was an advantage in employment.

About University of Santo Tomas: The school campus consist of many buildings and facilities housing all the courses offered by the same. The many courses have different uniforms among the students and these look beautiful when worn by the ladies. This gives an aura of youthfulness and gaiety and when I was studying here I felt young. Among these students I felt inspired and motivated.


My current job: Even when I was a law student I was already working in the biggest telecommunication corporation in this country. When I finished I was promoted to a managerial level in the corporate legal division. I was responsible for land surveys, acquisition, and realty taxes, among other tasks given to me by the Vice-President for Legal.

How long did it take to find a job: Before graduation I was already working in this company. The job then was not yet paralegal. I was handling the insurance claims of our company’s vehicles and other properties.

Why did I choose this school: I personally chose to study BS Pharmacy here because of the quality education and training they provide.

About University of Santo Tomas: Having the ambiance of the olden times, UST, especially the Main Building (where BS Pharmacy is conducted) is an effective place for learning and absorption of knowledge.

The professors/instructors are properly groomed and know the lessons very well. They look very professional but funny and friendly on the other side. They teach in a way that the students will easily understand.

There are enough computers for everyone. Rooms are air conditioned. The library is big, enough to provide books for all levels, colleges, and faculties. There are places where you can take a nap when you feel exhausted. The huge library, just classrooms or even benches can serve as a place where you can review lessons. We also have church and gyms. And of course, a lot of places located on the four sides of UST to hang out with friends.

My current job: I am currently the branch pharmacist of the leading generic drugstore in the country. I supervise the store, counsel the patients, and take care of the inventory and compliance.

How long did it take to find a job: After graduation, we first took our review classes for our Licensure Exam. I started applying for jobs and was employed after one and a half months.

Why did I choose this school: I knew deep in my heart that I love to be in this school. I just can't explain the right words. Another thing is that I know my lifestyle will fit well and adjusting with the environment is not as hard as I could think of than the other schools plus the fact that I consider my parents' capacity to pay my tuition fees and other expenses attached for being a student of this school. I knew UST will provide me quality education at a very good cost.

About University of Santo Tomas: UST never failed me. At first, I really didn't know why I love this school. But as I enter the university, I can feel that it will equip me everything that I needed before I face my future. It has all the things that will complete the life of a university student. It is a Catholic university and it always remind the students that in everything that each does, there's God to help and guide. Whenever challenges are coming, He is ready to hear your worries and will do something to lighten your load. I can feel that I am belong in a community where it bears a very unique identity. The university instills to us the qualities of being a Thomasian which are being compassionate, competitive and committed. Compassionate through our professors who are showing this quality through performing their craft, competitive as our mentors teaches us to strive for excellence and committed through telling us always that this quality must be maintained because it will bring us to greater heights. With the three qualities that I will be adapting as I live, I know that I will be a good professional and will reach my dreams someday. With the help of versatile instructors, the ever functional and useful amenities, the well-maintained and with a touch of historic stories facilities that it have plus the extra curricular activities, tradition events and student empowerment activities through organizations, I can say that I am very privilege to be a student of this great university as well as thankful for giving me a lot of experiences (A lot of firsts indeed) that will be useful throughout my life journey.

My current job: As of the moment, I am looking for a job that will matches my line of interest. I am looking for a job on events/trade marketing or those positions that involves hands-on, travelling and organizing events.

About University of Santo Tomas: The College of Engineering has buildings specially allocated for it's students, thousands of them, who are mostly males compared with the other courses where there are more females The college atmosphere is like being in a boys’ high school where there are plenty of boy’s talk about girls in the campus. The very few lady classmates that we had were considered as “one of the boys”. The 5-year studies pass like a wind, I did not notice the years passing by. The campus was my home away from home. The canteens outside the campus were our favorite hangouts and places to eat good food at cheap prices. There were libraries and canteens inside but I did not want to be seeing the same faces in our college. The professors were very inspiring and very good teachers. Every year I begin to know a professor who is much admired in his professional community. It is nice to be a student of such great mentors.

My current job: I am now an owner of my own consulting firm. I have some consultancy with power and energy-providing companies. I handle the maintenance side of their generators.

How long did it take to find a job: I put up my own consulting firm immediately after I passed my Board exam for Mechanical Engineers.

Why did I choose this school: This school is my alma mater where I finished my A. B. Philosophy in 1981. I also knew that the law teachers in this school are very prominent lawyers and practitioners. It is only fitting for me to choose this school.

My current job: My profession now is that of a Trial Lawyer. I practice law and I represent my clients in the courts, quasi-judicial, and administrative bodies. My job is to give each client an advantage of winning his case.

How long did it take to find a job: After graduation I reviewed for the Bar examination. When I took my Oath, I started my profession as a new lawyer.

Why did I choose this school: The school has a good reputation being a catholic school. It is also one of the top universities in the Philippines. The school is big and beautiful with it's historical landmarks. Catholic faith is promoted in the university. And campus activities includes retreats and recollections.

About University of Santo Tomas: The school is spacious. It has lots of space where students can hang around and study. The professors are well versed with their subject matter. They're professional in their dealings with the student. And they are very helpful too.

My current job: I practiced ECE for quite some time, but I already gave it up and started doing volunteer work in teaching children. We gave them free tutorials in our own charity work and gave them values formation too including their parents. We also try to look for sponsors to gave them scholarships.

How long did it take to find a job: After graduation, I didn't apply for a job for 2 years. But after that I easily landed on a job when I tried to apply.

About University of Santo Tomas: The professors at UST shows mastery of the courses that they teach. With the help of the university itself, the professors are able to impart the necessary knowledge to all their students with the high class facilities and laboratories. Half of the required books are also authored by the professors teaching in the university, proving their expertise in the subject.

The facilities, as mentioned earlier, are of top quality with the latest versions of all equipment provided to keep the students up to date. All laboratory instruments are pure and sterilized, with complete materials and chemicals needed for various experiments. The computer laboratories are also equipped with the most updated computers and operating system. Within the campus on the other hand, the students are privileged to enjoy comfort while studying. The library has it's own building and a cafe, allowing you to study comfortably. The Physical Education faculty on the other hand also has it's own area, complete with all the play grounds you can think of, including a football field and an olympic sized pool.

My current job: I am currently working as a research analyst in a research firm. Although I am not working in a laboratory setting, I am able to utilize all the research skills I have acquired in the field of science. Certain projects also allow me to impart my Science knowledge as they are closely related to Health and Science.

How long did it take to find a job: It only took about two weeks before I was able to find a job. Research and development is a crucial part of a business, especially in a manufacturing company. It also helps that I came from such a prestigious school as it adds a lot of points when employers consider you for the position.

About University of Santo Tomas: The Professors - The mastery of their subject matters are good. They give good grades to deserving students.
The atmosphere - Conducive for learning.
The facilities - Everything that a student wished for in a school, my school has it. In addition to this, CCTV cameras are installed in each classrooms.

As a Thomasian we are very religious and we always put God first with every decision or move, we also give importance to each and everyone's role as a citizen.

How long did it take to find a job: Right after graduation, I got 5 job offers from different companies and schools. I even got an invitation to enter law school. I got a job right away after passing the board exam.

About University of Santo Tomas: The professors at UST are just great both in the academic sense and the interpersonal sense. They are lawyers, media practitioners and award-winning writers who are experts in the classes that they teach. They combine everything you can learn in textbooks and their own lessons from real-life experiences which is really great. They are also very easy to approach and talk to even after class periods and they allot time answering queries from students.

The university has a very rich history and tradition being the oldest catholic university in Asia, celebrating its 400th year a couple of years ago. It has a huge campus filled with both longstanding, Spanish-styled and contemporary structures that illustrate the transformations it has gone through over the centuries. It has monuments, a chapel, parks and plazas, a huge library, a museum of arts and sciences, a publishing house, a state-of-the-art audio-visual center, Olympic size pools, gyms and a football field.

Everyone in campus is very friendly, from students to professors to school personnel. If you are new to the campus and might find yourself lost, you can easily talk to anyone and find your way.

My current job: I am currently a Communications Officer for the Philippine Government’s lead agency that develops, implements and coordinates social protection and poverty reduction solutions for and with the poor, vulnerable and disadvantaged. Among my responsibilities include overseeing the Social Marketing component of seventeen regional offices nationwide, drafting project proposals, writing press releases, feature stories, talking points, clarification letters, fact sheets, web content, frequently asked questions (FAQs), scripts, advertorials, staging and documenting events, etc.

Before, I was an Advocacy Officer for a non-government organization promoting Fair Trade in the country and a Marketing Communication Specialist for a below-the-line advertising agency.

How long did it take to find a job: After graduating, I felt like taking some time off to rest a little and enjoy the summer before going job hunting. It took me two months to get my first job. I graduated in April, started looking for a job in July and got a job in September.

Why did I choose this school: Affordable.

About University of Santo Tomas: The atmosphere is accommodating quite full of students. Warm (the people and the literally the temperature).

The professors I could say 50% are great. 50% are not so great in terms of sharing knowledge or the art of teaching.

Facilities not good because you pay a very high cost of tuition and then during your thesis you can't use the lab equipment just because some are malfunctioning or has no available schedule for use.

My current job: I'm Currently a Clinical Research Associate who mostly is in charge with monitoring clinical drug trials.

How long did it take to find a job: I reviewed for my board exam, then 1 month after I became a licensed pharmacist I already landed a job.

Why did I choose this school: I preferred the University of Santo Tomas because of it's accessibility to all public vehicles, it's historical significance, and it's world-class educational services.

About University of Santo Tomas: All buildings in the campus are monitored by CCTV cameras and manned by security guards. There is also a hospital, a separate clinic, a car park area, a large gymnasium, and a mini-mall full of restaurants. There are also pavilions, benches, and areas shaded by green leaves. There are also parks and basketball courts. There are many places in the university where students can study, bond with friends, relax, and reflect.

The professors are competent. They provide a type of blended learning experience in the classroom and emphasizes the development of higher-order thinking skills. All professors make sure that students are challenged and achieve required learning g competencies.

The classrooms and laboratories of U.S.T. Are fully-airconditioned and equipped with multimedia sets. The traditional chalk boards and white boards are wide enough to accommodate all drawings, highlighted words, and other spontaneous writings about the lessons. The documents are well-arranged in offices and there are clear systems in addressing concerns and in managing resources.

The libraries of U.S.T., especially the Miguel de Benavides Library, contains complete collection of books and professional journals. It also has an online catalogue system and a subscriber of online copies of international journals in different fields.

The U.S.T. Campus made me feel that being a Roman Catholic is something to be treasured. Around the campus, there are many reminders about the historic figures who once walked in the university. There are many religious and cultural activities that reflect the university's loyalty to it's status as a "pontifical Catholic university." U.S.T. Also tolerates intercultural dialogues, and encourages creativity, innovation, and excellence.

U.S.T. Made me realize that faith and reason can co-exist in a person's life.

My current job: I am a Chemistry, Earth and Space, and Biology teacher in a Catholic university in Quezon City. I teach in it's junior high school level since June 2014.

Prior to my teaching position in the Catholic school, I served as a high school science and values education teacher in a private non-sectarian school for 2 years. In the middle of my first year of teaching, I was able to pass the Licensure Examination for Teachers (September 2012).

How long did it take to find a job: I graduated on March 26, 2012. It took me 5-7 days before I was hired as a high school teacher in the private non-sectarian school.

Why did I choose this school: Well known, the community, my mother and my sister who were currently enrolled before me.

About University of Santo Tomas: I really like it, events can keep you excited. Professors are more professional than other schools. Facilities back in college were not good for my expectations but compared to other schools I believe we had better.

My current job: I'm currently studying medicine in Our Lady of Fatima University. My knowledge in some subjects that was tackled back in college help me survived the hardships of other subjects in medicine like biochem and microbiology.

How long did it take to find a job: It was like around 10 months or less I believe. I didn't have high marks back in college but being graduated from reputable school works.

Why did I choose this school: University of Santo Tomas (UST) is not my first choice but then my mom convinced me that UST’s program for Communication Arts is impressive plus it is a Catholic school (I’ve been studying in a Catholic school ever since I was a kid and our family is religiously practicing our faith).

About University of Santo Tomas: Even if UST was not my first choice, I loved it when I graduated and there is no doubt I am beyond thankful that mom convinced me to study in this university.

UST has a friendly atmosphere. The campus is big enough despite the huge number of students admitted. The school guards will great you as you enter any building in the campus. Plus, the students are naturally gracious. You can earn a friend from various colleges in just an instant. Furthermore, school spirit can be felt in the campus at all times, but most especially during the UAAP games. No one can beat the crowd when everyone starts to cheer the famous, “Go USTe” cheer.

UST’s professors are impressive as well. You can always ask them questions. You will never have the feeling of fear because yes, they might be your professors but then outside the classroom they are your friends and your second parents. Who would have thought that you could ask from a professor a big hug when you feel stressed out? Only in UST!

UST’s classrooms are air-conditioned and each has it's own audio-video equipment that you can use during class discussions. Research is not a problem as well, the Benavides Library is one of the best libraries that we have in the country; almost every books that you need, you can find it. Plus, the university has it's own museum where you can see various species of animals, collection of coins and vases and many more. You can visit the museum for free if you are a student!

UST is also a school full of traditions! When you enter the university as a freshman, we have the so-called Freshman Walk where you will enter in the iconic ARCH OF THE CENTURIES (take note: Even Jose Rizal and Manuel Quezon entered in this arch); it symbolizes your entry in the university and the start of your journey as a Thomasian. Meanwhile, when you graduate, a Baccalaureate is celebrated for you and then this is your time to go out of the arch. This time, the going out of the arch symbolizes the end of your journey inside the university and this is your time to conquer the real world.

Choosing UST will always be one of the best life choices I made because I found a home away from my home.

My current job: I just graduated last March 2014 and I am not working because I will take up law in UST as well. As I mentioned a while ago, I wanted to become a lawyer as a kid but then it was set aside, but then through my media law professor I was motivated again to pursue this dream of mine. And during an interview for a conference that I attended last February, the interviewer asked me where do I see myself 4 to 5 years from now and I instantly answered “I see myself finishing my law degrees and practicing law but at the same time I also want someday to produce a legal show that can help a lot of people have a better gauge regarding our legal system.” So at the end of it, I want to combine both my knowledge in communication and law. I want to see myself incorporating everything I learned and hopefully in the future I can wake up every day with a heart full of love for the career paths I chose.

How long did it take to find a job: After graduation, I gave myself a month to think if I should work or go to law school. I then decided to take the law entrance exams and to try applying to some jobs via jobstreet. I submitted my resume to some companies during the first week of May 2014. After 3 days I got text from a company me telling that I am qualified for an exam and panel interview with the company and after the interview they immediately offered me the job! But then, I decided to turn it down due to some personal reasons. At the moment, I am waiting for an interview to another company where I can become one of their writers, I finished taking their exams and I hoping that I could get in and be one of their part time writers!

Being a Thomasian is actually an edge when you are looking for a job. I believe employers have strong confidence in you when you are a UST graduate.

About University of Santo Tomas: I love the professors in UST, they are quite knowledgeable, cool and fun to be with, but when it comes to discussion and exams, they are the most serious bunch of people you will face in your life. I recall this cool professor we have back in college, every Christmas he has his own version of "Twelve Days of Christmas" so called the "Twelve Bananas of Christmas", he performs it live during class and he also brings twelve kinds of Banana! Imagine that! One of the most unforgettable moments!

As for the atmosphere, it's like a war zone after each class, the hallways full of students walking fast for their next class, for the "siomai" break, "yosi" break, and whatever break a student can think of. (believe me, they are programmers, they always think outside the box) , but I always feel this festive atmosphere whenever seeing students crammed in the hallways. The facilities are quite good, air-conditioned rooms, drinking fountains, I also heard that there are now CCTVs in each classrooms. I hope all the students can use the elevator since the Building has 5 floors, I think you need to have permission first from the Dean's Office to use it.

My current job: I'm currently a SAP Business Warehouse developer. I do back-end database objects, cleansing and transformation of data for reporting and analysis.

How long did it take to find a job: I already had a job offer before graduation
