Why did I choose this school:
I’m certain that studying in college is tough and really not a joke especially when it comes to paying pricey school fees. Many high school students stop and choose to work instead, for the reason that they can’t afford to pay high tuition fee, not mentioning the energy fee, miscellaneous fee, school supplies and such.
I am very blessed that my university offers scholarship to those who graduated with honors in high school. Thank God that I graduated valedictorian. This is a big help to me and to my auntie who supported me throughout my high school years. I understand that my parents’ income is intended for my three younger siblings and not for me. Moreover, I’m not that kind of son who blames them in the future for not giving me what I need. Anyway, there are still my parents and I honor them.
This scholarship made me decide to stay in the university not minding what others will say to me. Some of them are asking, “Why don’t I try the schools in Manila?” If they onl
About UPHSL Laguna:
I really love the atmosphere in our school. It’s fun to watch many students doing their stuff. It isn’t only school for me but also a home. I’m not afraid to show my true self. This is my comfort zone. This is where I feel like I am belong. This is the kind of atmosphere that will encourage you to go to school every day despite of the early class you must attend.
With this atmosphere, I’m glad that I’m not that different to other students. The usual students who laugh with each other, share their stories and who make puppy eyes to the teachers while asking for extended deadlines or wishing the quiz to postpone.
I cannot forget my thoughtful professors. They teach us not only the lessons written in the book but also lessons in life. They are my understanding parents who guide me all along, give me pieces of advice and lean their shoulders to cry on. They are willing to listen to you no matter how big or small your problems are and they don’t even judge you in the end. Without them, I wouldn’t be able to get in the same position I have right now.
I’m proud of my school because we have very nice facilities to use. Some of them are our own auditorium where we could organize events and stuff. It is a fully air-conditioned area where everyone is free to showcase their talents without feeling uncomfortable. Also, this is where theater productions, search for Mr. And Ms. University, Sing and Dance contest and other events are held. Our rooms are also air-conditioned and Wi-Fi enabled so that the students have accessed through the internet. We have also huge gymnasium where we can watch ball games. We have a wide open field where soccer games are held. It is also a good place to hangout especially after classes. And of course, we have our hi-tech radio-frequency machine placed in the entrance hall where students swipe their micro-chip installed IDs just to get inside. I can say that this is a good disciplinary way to give lessons to those students who always forget their IDs at home.
I really enjoy my stay in the university. It is a good source of learning. Learning I cannot only get from our the books in our peaceful library, from my classmates and professors but also from my unforgettable experiences as a college student.
My current job:
I am currently working as a Creative Research assistant in one of the biggest and oldest film companies in Manila. Basically, my job is to review screenplays, as well as concepts, for films or for television series. I also suggest some scenes that I think will make the story more interesting.
How long did it take to find a job:
Before my graduation, I applied to various film production houses through e-mail. Fortunately, there was someone who replied to my e-mail after five to ten minutes. That night, he let me talk to his secretary for my schedule to come to his office for an initial interview. Thank God that I got hired after few interviews and less than a month, I started working in same company until now.
