Why did I choose this school:
Of course I'll be a hypocrite if I'll say that I didn't want to attend college at prestigious universities like UP, UST, Ateneo, etc. As much as I wanted back then to enroll in those schools, I was restricted by my parents because we are living in a province and they say that it's too dangerous to study there. Well, since I'm obedient to my parent, I followed their advice to enroll in a college somewhere near us.
Since I was restricted to study in universities, I searched for a school where I know that they specialize in Computer related courses. And so I found STI COLLEGE FAIRVIEW.
About STI Fairview:
At STI College Fairview my overall stay there had been great. All of the rooms are fully air-conditioned and clean because there are janitors who regularly clean the room (also the Comfort Rooms are clean). The arm chairs are well-suited for studying because they're sturdy and comfortable to sit. There are White boards attached in every room and that's where the professors write some points. The school have four buildings. The Building A, which is also called as the STI Academic Center, has LCD projectors installed in every room and the topics are already prepared in PDF formats. For the other buildings, each room have Overhead projectors where the professors use prepared acetates to discuss the topics.
I do not want to exaggerate but professors at STI are competitive and great educators especially in the Information and Communications Technology Department. I wouldn't be into programming right now if weren't for skilled professors of mine. They have been great at teaching the subject matter to us.The curriculum at STI is up-to-date to the latest trend in the Technology world so you will not be worried that whatever the professor is discussing is already outdated or obsolete when you're already working.
One thing that's also note worthy are the Computer Laboratories. The ratio of the student and computer is one to one and each computer is installed with the software required. Each Laboratory has a facilitator so if there's a technical problem with regards to the unit, they are ready to fix it immediately. The labs are also fully air-conditioned.
The library is very conducive for studying. It's fully air-conditioned and there are books that are available to read for your research and thesis documents that are very helpful to accomplish your own thesis. There's a librarian and a student assistant that facilitates in the library.
There's not much place to loiter in the campus, there's the canteen if you want to chit chat with your friends or you can go to SM Fairview or Fairview Terraces if you want to have some fun :)
My current job:
I'm currently an Associate Software Engineer. Our job is to develop softwares for our clients. We do analyzation of the requirements they want and then we proceed to develop the software base on the requirements they've given.
How long did it take to find a job:
Not to be boastful but I was already hired before I graduated college. Just couple of weeks before my graduation, I was able to secure a job and I'm happy that I didn't wait that much to have a job.
