Why did I choose this school:
Upon choosing my school, I considered 3 things:
School Integrity, Education Cost and Distance from home.
From the place I reside, it is well known to produce graduates whom are employed in a month or two after graduation. I am very particular in a university which can assure me a stable job with a promising income.
With comparison to other schools, the tuition fees there are quite low. But this does not compromise the education being brought to it's students. I had seen it based on it's graduates and student whom I spoke to when I was still on highschool. (By God's grace, I also acquired a generous scholarship from DOST so it lessens my parent's burden a lot.)
Another factor is that it's one of the nearest in our town I used to reside.
About SLSU:
The university is located at Lucban, Quezon. It's quite near to nature and the university itself is evident in this. There had trees and plants in the vicinity. That’s why the place has it's natural ventilation, perfect for someone who cannot focus at a too hot environment.
Professors/Instructors are knowledgeable in their field especially those who teaches major subjects. The professors of major subjects are quite strict, that’s fine. Some of them could befriend with their students. But makes it clear that inside the classroom, the relation are not friends but still as teacher and students. Respect was never lost. The university has it's own recreation/athletic center, library/learning resource center, computer center, audio visual rooms, canteen, chapel, medical&dental clinic, freedom park and laboratories for different courses.
In the engineering department, we had our own EE-Laboratories and Industrial Workshop, it's a nice thing that we could make experiment as per actual on some of what we had study on electrical theories and principles. I also remember reviewing for a quiz, I am sitting on a bench at the freedom park. I can't focus much because of my headache. It’s a good thing, there are luscious green trees on sight. It relaxes my sight and a moment later relieves my pain.
My current job:
As of today I serve as a project manager in the field as well as head of the engineering department. I have the responsibility of the planning, execution and closing of the projects I handled, typically relating to electrical construction.
How long did it take to find a job:
After graduation on April 2010, I didn't search for a job yet for the reason I still need to review a few months before the board examination on September of the same year. I needed to pass it to have a license and I did it. A week after I got my license (1st week of November) I started to look for a job. And so I did and been employed on November 22, 2010. I applied as a rookie engineer but been employed as an AutoCAD Operator but only a month promoted as an Office Electrical Engineer. Two years later I had been promoted as the Head of the Engineering Department. And today, I am promoted as a Project Manager but still bear title as being the Head of Engineering.
