Why did I choose this school:
This is the only college that I really wanted to enroll at.
There were three reasons:
1. PLM has a good reputation, despite being a public school.
2. It offers little to no tuition fee, which helps guarantee my college diploma
3. The school is a few blocks away from home. No need to wake up too early to attend morning classes. Never got late- ever.
About PLM:
As expected from a city government funded school, PLM had nothing much to offer when it comes to facilities. Air conditioned room were very limited, although I tried having classes in a few of these rooms. Older buildings don't have electric fans. We don't have a school wi-fi (at least during my time). Neither do we have good computers to use freely.
But what my Alma Mater lacks in facilities, it makes up for in great instructors. Our teachers were professionals. They have been working in their respective fields, so other than the theories, they also provide us with practical lessons.
Outside my school looks small, but inside it has a huge field, covered in green grass during the beginning of the school year. Our school signifies it's students. We look small, and ordinary, but inside we have the brains and attitude of a true scholar.
My current job:
SEO Specialist. That's Search Engine Optimization Specialist. Whenever I tell someone about my occupation, they always follow up with, "what's that?"
I don't know about SEO either. I only learned about it when my friend invited me to work with them. I just resigned from my previous job, then so why not give it a shot? SEO is basically marketing, only it is online. You work with search engines like Google and Yahoo, and improve your website's online presence by writing blogs, guest posts, press releases, profiles and more. You also analyze trends and use it to improve your website's search engine rankings. The higher your ranking is, the better web traffic you get.
You'll basically understand it better when you run your own blogs, or website. The gist of it is you'll basically write a lot of content, and share it online.
How long did it take to find a job:
It was frustrating to land a job. I was optimistic about landing jobs in a media outlet. ABS-CBN was like my goal at that time, but I was not successful.
It took me 5 months before I landed a job. But it was not the job that I really thought I'll ever take. I was an Account Manager, I work in the field promoting our company's services. It was difficult because I was never a people person. I prefered working behind the curtain rather than performing in front of many people. To cut the story short, I resigned after 10 months.
My second job was like icing on top of the cake. I get to write. I also get to work with my classmates, and I earn a good enough pay. All thanks to my classmates who invited me to work in the same company. Now, I am working as an SEO Specialist for 4 years.
