About New Era:
The professors from NEU range from professionals and fresh graduates or fresh from board exams. Board passers oftentimes taught in the school, so you will have a professor who might have been a friend while still a student in school. While you can have some "bonding"moments with the young professors, those who are older are aloof and have busy schedules. However, you can learn the most from them since they are already working in the field while moonlighting as teachers.
When it comes to the atmosphere, I have never found a peaceful nor a cleaner school anywhere in QC that can compete with NEU. It has a big ground, the hallways are all clean, and you can even sleep on the bathroom's floor if you want to. Girls wear white uniforms but that did not stop us from sitting on the hallway or stairs. It is that well-maintained. You cannot even see writings on the bathroom doors, its walls, and even on desks. There are no fraternities or sororities aside from the group of the Student Affairs, so there is no brawl or any kinds of trouble. Security guards also roamed the whole building and grounds, so it is generally safe.
NEU is a private non-sectarian school. When I last visited, the communications lab looks great as Smart Telecomm. donated some of their equipment. It has a great audio-visual room, university theater, and computer lab that comes with updated hardware and software. Laboratory assistants are kind and helpful. We always had all the things we needed when doing lab work, so apparently, the school sees to it that the laboratories are fully-equipped.
My current job:
I am now working as a home-based freelance writer for online articles. I was diagnosed with a chronic illness a year after graduation, so the field of Electronics and Communications closed its doors on me. However, all the things I learned at engineering school was never wasted as I used them to teach high school an elementary students, or those who need help in their engineering course or Math subjects. My batchmates are all working abroad - in UAE, Japan, Europe, and US having the word "Engineer" before their names, so I believe that the education that we had from NEU was put to good use and were never wasted.
How long did it take to find a job:
Through my connections with those in the higher levels and in my own batch, I was able to secure a part-time job for Caltex Phils. in Makati for their Emergency Contingency Plan right after graduation and while I was reviewing for the board exam. However, I got sick on the day of the exam and was hospitalized for months, making me miss the exam. I never took the exam again, though I know I can pass it.
