Admission Requirements - Freshmen:
1. Students must have graduated from recognized secondary schools
2. Students must meet all the prescribed admission requirements of NSU.
3. Must qualify in the NSU College Admission Test.
4. Must have complete and valid credential (F-138, Certificate of Good Moral Character, Medical Certificate, ISHIHARA and AUDIOMETRY Test Result (For Maritime students), NSO authenticated Certificate of Live Birth, 2x2 ID picture, and mailing envelope).
5. Students must qualify in the general weight average (GWA) grade requirements set by each College /Department.
6. Students must qualify in the Medical Examination. No student is admitted into the College of Maritime Education if he failed in ISHIHARA Vision Test and Audiometry Hearing Test.
7. Students must pledge to abide by and comply with all the rules and regulations of the NSU.
8. Students must not have enrolled in any academic or college subjects prior to their enrollment as beginning freshmen; otherwise, they shall be classified as transferees.
9. Students enrolled in vocational courses of those leading to a degree program that is not ladderized are admitted as beginning freshmen.
10. New/beginning freshmen may be accepted during the second semester/summer term subject to the requirements above.
Admission Requirements - Transferees:
1. Must have complete and valid credentials.
2. Must meet all the prescribed admission requirements of the University and the concerned College /Department.
3. Passed the qualifying Test for Transferees.
4. Must obtain a general weight average (GWA) grade requirements prescribed under the curriculum.
5. Present copy of grades signed by the Registrar or TOR for reference purposes.
6. Present the Certificate of Transfer Credential.
7. Passed the College Interview.
8. Present Medical Certificates.
9. Passed the ISHIHARA Vision test and AUDIOMETRY Hearing Test – for Maritime students only.
10. Present 2x2 ID picture.
11. Present NSO authenticated Certificate of Live Birth.
12. Only students who have enrolled in any course leading to a degree program are admitted as transferees.
13. Admission shall be on probation basis during the first term of stay in the University or until such time that they shall have validated/repeated in accordance with University policies all the subjects taken outside the NSU which are required for their course.
14. Official Transcript of Records (TOR) and other transfer credentials shall be submitted prior to admission for the following semester as indicated in the duly filled up Undertaking and Waiver; otherwise; enrollment will not be allowed.
15. Transferees from State College or University (SUC) shall be admitted and treated as regular students in accordance with the existing policies of the University.
16. Must pledge to abide by and comply with all the rules and regulations of the NSU.
Admission Requirements - Foreign Students:
1. Must have complete and valid credentials.
2. Must meet all the prescribed admission requirements of the University and the course applied for:
(a) University Admission Test
(b) Certificate of Completion of a Secondary Curriculum
(c) Original Transcript of Record
(d) Personal Data
(e) Affidavit of Support
(f) Alien Certificate of Registration (ACR)
(g) Result of TOEFL
(h) Students Visa
(i) Security Clearance from his/her Embassy
(j) Resident Guarantor of his/her character
3. Must meet all the prescribed requirements by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and Bureau of Immigration (BI).
4. Must submit Certification of Proficiency in English based on TOEL score (for non-native speakers of English).
5. A foreign student may be admitted based on availability of slot of the course applied for.
6. Admission of foreign students should be limited to special courses.
This school is included under the "Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education" law that passed in 2017.
The law covers students enrolled in State and Local universities/colleges in Bachelors and Certificate programs.
Under the Law students in accredited State and Local universities/colleges will not pay any tuition fees or misc fee.
The Law covers only first time students (students who don't already have a college degree).
However, the full implementation of this law is not clear yet.
