Why did I choose this school: Honestly, it was near my residence and proximity was a big factor for me and my family back then.

About Miriam College: The atmosphere is inviting. For students, Miriam College can really be a second home. Security and order is strictly followed to the letter so the students, overall, have the discipline to obey rules (which is beneficial for everybody in the end). No boisterous laughter in the halls, no trash along the corridors. The pupils are called and groomed to be servant-leaders so everyone is big on taking responsibility for their actions and having the initiative for tasks that could make the school progressively improve. The entire compound is also surrounded by greens and flowers so it's refreshing to look and walk outside.

The professors in Miriam College are all competent in the sense that most faculty members have MA and/or PhD (or currently studying to earn one). Our professors also came from top universities like UP, Ateneo, La Salle and UST and are well-experienced in the different fields of Psychology so students don't fall short in terms of instruction. The professors are able to share their knowledge and skills to all the students because they are qualified for the job. When I was in college, the President of the Psychological Association of the Philippines was my professor. The college department benefited from this such that current issues trend in Philippine Psychology were easily disseminated to us. Psych students were well aware and informed of relevant information. The faculty also encourage research. The good thing about that is it grounds Psych students on research that is not only beneficial for the school but also for the entire country.

The facilities are excellent. Miriam College managed to keep up with the times. They have state of the art Multimedia Library. Their auditorium is also something to be proud of. Because it was newly built and the place can house performances of all sorts. The students won't be embarrassed to invite parents and guests to watch. The toilet and wash area are always well maintained. Everything in Miriam College is well thought out. It runs on a smooth and organized system and adheres to it's advocacy to be an environmentally friendly school. I love that garbage segregation is followed even the cotton of the sanitary napkins are decomposed the plastic part is disposed of.

How long did it take to find a job: It took me about 1 month to find my first job. A lot of employers, I found out, like knollers (or graduates of Miriam College)

Why did I choose this school: It was the nearest school to our house. It was also one of the few schools that offers Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at that time.

About Miriam College: Miriam College nurtures their students to become women leaders in service. Feminism is very strong in this community and it also maintains a good image within and outside the school. The ambiance is really peaceful and secured. Students are able to study in a eco-friendly institution.

The facilities are ok, although they have old buildings that they refuse to renovate. However, all comfort rooms are nice and clean. There are also classrooms that are not air-conditioned but it's not really a big deal because we have buildings with ACs too which are available for reservations.

Professors came from the Big 4 as well. They hold professional and humanitarian values that they pass on to their students. Most of them are fair in giving out grades. There are laissez faire profs but of course, there are also democratic profs who are very approachable and friendly. Some of them are nice enough to be a mentor as the students graduate from college.

My current job: I am currently working under Pag-IBIG Fund, Human Resource Services Group, under the Employee Career Management and Training Division.

How long did it take to find a job: The job was already waiting for me before I graduated.

About Miriam College: My teachers were awesome. School atmosphere was conducive and facilities were not so high technology but useful just the same. All of our teachers made a great impact as to who and what I am now. In fact being a professional coach right now, I see exactly their sacrifice for us. They mentored me in ways they probably didn't even know. For example, Mr. Dico our Mass Communications Dean. We deliberated and defeneded our thesis to him. It was entitle "Effect of TV ads children 5 years and below". We emersed ourselves into getting childrens insight on this. Worked hard. Sleepless nights. Research upon research. And failed us during the 1st defense. TORTURE! But definitely taught me perseverance. And that by far is my best lesson from my professor. May he rest in peace.

My current job: I am currently a Meta-Coach. Certified by the International Society of Neuro Semantics and Meta-Coach Foundation. You may think its psychology and not quite related to Mass Communications. I'd say it is related. Because Meta-Coaching is all about a conversation. A ruthlessly compassionate conversation between a coach and a coachee where facilitaion to the highest goal of the coache is the main objective. The coach simply asks well formed outcome questions to help the coachee self-actualize in achieving his or her highest potential. I love this job and it is still completely alligned to my goals prior to entering college, which is communicating. But this time around it has a higher purpose. It is helping people reach their grandest and greatest version.

How long did it take to find a job: I got a job right away because my school was highly reputable. It also helped that I had the drive and the personality. Determination plays a great role too. Do not be disheartened by rejection. Remember that in 10 "NO's" 1 "YES" is about to come your way. It is also very important to choose the right company and right environment for you to be able to stay a long time in that company. My first job was indeed lovely. In fact I stayed there for 7 years and I am still friends with my officemates there even after 25 years. Maryknoll and college indeed trained me well.

About Miriam College: Miriam College is surrounded with a very conducive learning environment: spacious areas for study groups, many "kubos" where students hang out, vast area of trees and gardens for relaxation and recreation, and top-of-the-line library facilities.

The professors are all well-qualified. Each college boast of multi-awarded professors (eg. Palanca winners, well-known researchers, and the like). Of course, we cannot ignore the fact that there are teachers that are strict or not that well-loved by students, but these characteristics makes the selection of professors exciting.

My current job: Researcher in a Guidance office.
I currently handle the research needs of the guidance department. It is expected of me that at the end of the school year, I should have developed and finished a research project that is geared towards understanding and addressing the needs of the students of that particular school year.

How long did it take to find a job: 1 month. We were helped by our Guidance office since our contact details and resumes were forwarded to numerous companies during the job fairs and through our yahoo group.

About Miriam College: The school's atmosphere has been the same since I was in kinder (true blue Knoller) but I guess there were still differences in terms of the people you will deal with because there are also other people who came from other schools with different traits and characteristics but all in all it was an okay atmosphere. There are a lot of good professors who really know what they are teaching about but there are also a handful of professors who seems quite unsure of what they are teaching or probably are not the best "teachers". The facilities are good especially for the course I took up. There were radio production and tv production rooms. Editing bays and other things a Communication might need.

My current job: I am currently working as a production manager for film, event coordinator and writer.

How long did it take to find a job: Around 1 month after the summer vacation.

Why did I choose this school: I did not have many options since I did not apply to many colleges and universities, and I was only waitlisted in my other college school options.

About Miriam College: The atmosphere is relaxed, it gave a calm and refreshing vibe since our buildings are very close to nature, our gardens etc. The school observes moderate noise and overall, it's very conducive to learning and fun times. It can be a little hot in some classrooms though.

I love all the interesting characters and techniques of my talented professors! They have different styles but all in all, the mix is perfect.

The facilities are not over the top but they are updated and very useful. Just enough for us to learn what we have to in our classrooms.

How long did it take to find a job: I applied and got a producer job in ABSCBN before graduation.

Why did I choose this school: I've always wanted to learn and study about different cultures in different environments. I've always been in a co-ed school and I wanted to experience how it is to be like in an exclusive all-girls school where women can be just themselves and not try to pretend to be liked by the opposite gender.

About Miriam College: The ambiance was very beautiful. I can say it was very conducive to studying. Our campus was always kept clean and noise-free. We have different centers where we can do things freely like there's a place for just studying and there's a place where personal use like entertainment and just chatting. These centers make our school organized and disciplined.

Our professors and instructors were well picked and chosen by the administration. They were very organized when teaching. They provide different avenues for learning and make sure the students get interested in learning. Professors were fun and strict at the same time.

My current job: Controls officer - I handle surveillance of the sales done by sales officers. I check whether the process of marketing is correct. I make sure products and services are being sold correctly.

How long did it take to find a job: I started working 3 days after graduation

Why did I choose this school: This school was just adjacent to our residence. It is under the good management of the nuns, it has a well-secured campus, and it is exclusive for girls. My parents felt that it would be the best choice for me.

About Miriam College: The Miriam College was previously known as the Maryknoll College. It is a very high standard school just like it's neighbor the Ateneo de Manila University which started as an exclusive school for boys. The facilities are modern by Philippine standards. Its highly qualified faculty makes sure that all of it's students graduate not merely with a piece of paper called “diploma” but filled with knowledge and learning which can be proudly and generously shared with others. The school has a huge compound that includes the chapel where the nuns have a daily Holy Mass, the classrooms, library with internet connectivity, faculty rooms and offices, the gym and the audio-visual function room, among others.

My current job: I and my brother own our restaurant specializing in Filipino cuisine in California, U.S.A.. I handle the finance and the F&B. My brother is the one in-charge of public relations, marketing, business permits and taxes, and other areas. We are happy to make fellow Pinoys meet and enjoy in our place.

How long did it take to find a job: Immediately after graduation, my mother hired me to become the administrator of our canteens in the Philippines. I monitored the purchases of items needed for the canteens. I also did other administrative work.

Why did I choose this school: This is a school run by the Maryknoll sisters and it is well-known for it's very high academic standard and it's specialization in child education. Although I am an Evangelist I still find this Catholic school the best for child education and psychology.

About Miriam College: Miriam College (which was called Maryknoll in my time), is an exclusive school for girls and ladies only. Its campus is adjacent to to Ateneo de Manila University. There was an ambience of the serenity and proper decorum of the nuns, and naughtiness and gaiety of the students. Even if I had a different religion I enjoyed going to the chapel with the other students. There was a peaceful and comfortable atmosphere, of feeling safe away from home. The classes were conducted in a very professional and inspiring manner. The students were molded to become good and disciplined students. The camps canteen, comfort rooms, and other facilities were clean. It was a nice feeling to be inside a sterile place.

My current job: I am a full-time mother and a part-time writer and contributor of features and articles to certain magazines and dailies.

How long did it take to find a job: Immediately after graduation I was hired as a teacher in Maryknoll College.

Why did I choose this school: Its only college/university that offers the course.

About Miriam College: Atmosphere - I love the balance of green scenery - in terms of trees and plants, and the buildings. It gives the vibe that even if students are surrounded by infrastructure, consumption of non-renewable resources, you are able to offset it. Its also a walkable campus!

Professors - The professors in our department were experts in their own field. You get to somehow embody their experiences through the flow of the lectures.

Facilities - To be honest, our department lacks in facilities during the time that I was studying, but with what's lacking in school was compensated by out-of-school fieldwork and field trips. Its a much better experience.

My current job: I work for an ISO Consulting Company, it helps other companies achieve ISO certification. I am a consulting associate there, and the operations assistant as well.

How long did it take to find a job: It took about 2 months.
