Why did I choose this school: It is the same school my elder sister attended to and the only college nearest my location with Bachelor of Science In Accountancy in it's curriculum.

About Cor Jesu College: Atmosphere - Being a sectarian school run by the Brothers of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, one expects the inclusion of religion studies in most courses. Catholic masses are regularly heard three times a week. There are strict dress codes which prohibited wearing revealing outfits. The population is small in that there are less than 300 college students enrolled in my batch so it is easy to make friends with everybody even with non-accountancy students.

Professors – In my humble opinion, there were very few good professors in my time. I remembered how classes felt a little boring with two or three teachers repeating the same lessons again and again. There is but only one teacher, my Professor in Financial Accounting who inspired me to work hard in preparation for the Certified Public Accountant licensure exam. His teaching strategy was really that effective that the lessons he taught was instilled in my memory even after I graduated. I never would have passed the Board had he not encouraged me and my classmates to persevere with reading accounting books and other resource materials. We learned from him that we need not always rely on good teachers to do the teaching for us. Considering the less number of effective accounting teachers around the campus, he taught us to study and learn on our own. The willingness to learn is always the key to getting things done. And so it was not a surprise that most of us reached our ambition to become a CPA license holder by following his advice.

My current job: Accounting officer to a top 20,000 company (in tax aspect) engaged in drilling, milling and mining activity. I am generally in charge with all financial aspects of the company from funds monitoring, disbursements, payroll and investments. I do account reconciliations every month end to check transactions are properly recorded in their rightful accounts. And provide management with financial reports that displays the company's financial status at a given date.

How long did it take to find a job: It took me about 6 months to find a decent paying job. I have had immediate employments with less stable establishments around the neighborhood but those are short-lived and lack appropriate settings to be called a regular job.
