list bulletAbout BatStateU: Batangas State University (BSU) has always been identified as a science and technology institute. However, this identity should not give the public the impression that only professors and instructors of science, industrial technology and engineering enjoy the priority attention. The school environment is remarkable! Being a state university, the tuition fees are affordable nevertheless you still be thought by credible instructors and which provide a high quality of education. The facilities are impressive for a state university. The library is complete of books that will assist you with your research. The school has computer rooms that have enough computers to accommodate students and its Wi-Fi ready environment.

list bulletMy current job: I’m currently a professor of one the schools here in Batangas. I’m teaching both computer and business administration subjects to college students.

list bulletHow long did it take to find a job: I was already working at the time when I enrolled to take my Master’s Degree. After I graduated from my post graduate studies, I was immediately promoted as one of the company’s officers.

It was definitely useful because I’m applying the additional knowledge and skills that I’ve learned in during my post graduate studies.

◈ Studied BSEd in English
◈ At BatStateU
◈ Graduated 2012

list bulletWhy did I choose this school: I had spent a lot of my parents money trying to fulfill their wish of me becoming a nurse, but I just had to follow my heart and to save myself from having a possibly miserable future. I had to choose the school with the lowest tuition. Also, BatStateU is known to give affordable quality education being a public school and their graduates perform very well in licensure examinations. It is actually the biggest producer of Education graduates and Professional Teachers in the area. So I thought I could continue and finish my Bachelor's Degree in this school without giving more burden to my dad.

list bulletAbout BatStateU: BatStateU offers a good variety of courses letting students with different interests and studying in different fields meet and become familiar, sometimes acquainted with each other, and even end up as friends, thanks to the relatively small campus.

College of Teacher Education is a three-storey building where I spent the rest of my college years. It was just big enough to cater all education students at the time. It had been easy to know and to bond with other aspiring teachers like myself because most of us, from first year to fourth year, were having our classes in that one building.

The school was very conducive to learning though I don't remember all the rooms having good air-conditioning.

Every building are just a few steps away from each other making traveling from one place to another easy, and the tough registration and enrollment processes expected in such a thickly populated state university a little convenient.

The hotness of the climate isn't much of an issue because it is hot almost everywhere nowadays. But it could get a little floody during rainy season. Kinda like UST on Espanya. XD Rivers emerge on what used to be driveways every time it rains hard.

Overall, life is very simple in that university. I could say that my three and a half years of my stay there was a remarkably humbling experience.

THE PROFESSORS

Most of the professors I had were old, and definitely seasoned. They were inspiring in a way that they seemed very dedicated to their work. Most of the teachers I had were doctors and masters of education. I don't remember having an unqualified college instructor, thank God.

Maybe there is something about teachers of Education because it felt like my professors were genuinely compassionate to their students. We were like a family in the college.

I met a professor, also the acting guidance counselor of the college at the time, who helped me with my personal problems within myself when I was becoming very exhausted and confused about how my life is gonna be, because I was losing motivation.

I also found an idol in Sir KC who is the epitomy of a passionate teacher of English. He indirectly introduced me to Mr. Pagsi of Ateneo who eventually became my ultimate idol. :)

THE FACILITIES

The facilities that are essential to the courses they offer and for the university to operate effectively are complete though could sure be improved still.

For College of Teacher Education, the facilities are adequate and appropriate. They have AV rooms and speech labs; the gym is quite complete; the library has been very useful; and there are rooms reserved for student organizations; etc.

◈ Studied BS in Architecture
◈ At BatStateU
◈ Graduated 2001

list bulletMy current job: I tried studying again but in the medical field.

list bulletHow long did it take to find a job: During our architecture days in my 4th year, I was lucky to already have clients who would want their living room redecorated, who would want their small house renovated, who would want a redesign of the landscape of their front yards, who would want to build their simple dream homes, and who would want to build an office space for their businesses. I tried freelance work but in partnership. But sadly, my partners have chosen a different path and so as I.

◈ Studied BS in Mechanical Engineering
◈ At BatStateU
◈ Graduated 1993

list bulletWhy did I choose this school: It's the nearest to my home town which offered the course, and the tuition fee was only P20/unit at the time.

list bulletAbout BatStateU: School and Instructors were fine but not the best there is, students who made it were definitely good. From thousands who tried, four hundred passed entrance exam, less than a hundred made it to fifth year and 60 students graduated, all due to very strict school policies. If you are a aspiring student and you have above average IQ, go for it otherwise look for another university or take less demanding course/curriculum.

list bulletMy current job: I am now a certified Project Management Professional (PMP). I have worked as Project Manager, Planning & Control Manager, Proposal Manager, QA/QC Manager in the last 12 years. And before that, holding engineer/supervisory positions in service, shipping and construction companies.

I did menial jobs first, and then able to worked on a small repair contractor company. From then until now, most companies in PH require license, even though actual job doesn't need it. Which I don't have and I did not even attempted to for personal reasons.

◈ Studied BS in Nursing
◈ At BatStateU
◈ Graduated 2012

list bulletAbout BatStateU: My school is a ground that caters the most astonishing facsimiles of study in their own great ways. The school is somewhat a public University, it is huge and there may be lacking facilities but with the great mind, pursuant students and supporting professors the way to success will not only learned through books or room discussion but the whole journey through college. One may be put into difficult situation, one may blame the system but as soon as the pressure gets higher he will use his greatest gift to be able to solve the problem, his intellect. In my school you will learn that money is not the solution to problems but the use of intelligence. You will learn that hard work is meaningful not only because you got high grades but also because what you learn will be a crucial skill in your life long profession.

list bulletWhy did I choose this school: They said that the curriculum in this school is based on Mapua Institute of Technology which is a highly rated engineering school. It is also nearer to our place than in Manila.

list bulletAbout BatStateU: The atmosphere - I can say that though it is hot in Batangas, the school is a bit clean and organized.
The professors - Some of my professors are good. Some of them are not teaching and attending classes. They'll just give the topic to be studied.
