Why did I choose this school:
I had spent a lot of my parents money trying to fulfill their wish of me becoming a nurse, but I just had to follow my heart and to save myself from having a possibly miserable future. I had to choose the school with the lowest tuition. Also, BatStateU is known to give affordable quality education being a public school and their graduates perform very well in licensure examinations. It is actually the biggest producer of Education graduates and Professional Teachers in the area. So I thought I could continue and finish my Bachelor's Degree in this school without giving more burden to my dad.
About BatStateU:
BatStateU offers a good variety of courses letting students with different interests and studying in different fields meet and become familiar, sometimes acquainted with each other, and even end up as friends, thanks to the relatively small campus.
College of Teacher Education is a three-storey building where I spent the rest of my college years. It was just big enough to cater all education students at the time. It had been easy to know and to bond with other aspiring teachers like myself because most of us, from first year to fourth year, were having our classes in that one building.
The school was very conducive to learning though I don't remember all the rooms having good air-conditioning.
Every building are just a few steps away from each other making traveling from one place to another easy, and the tough registration and enrollment processes expected in such a thickly populated state university a little convenient.
The hotness of the climate isn't much of an issue because it is hot almost everywhere nowadays. But it could get a little floody during rainy season. Kinda like UST on Espanya. XD Rivers emerge on what used to be driveways every time it rains hard.
Overall, life is very simple in that university. I could say that my three and a half years of my stay there was a remarkably humbling experience.
THE PROFESSORS
Most of the professors I had were old, and definitely seasoned. They were inspiring in a way that they seemed very dedicated to their work. Most of the teachers I had were doctors and masters of education. I don't remember having an unqualified college instructor, thank God.
Maybe there is something about teachers of Education because it felt like my professors were genuinely compassionate to their students. We were like a family in the college.
I met a professor, also the acting guidance counselor of the college at the time, who helped me with my personal problems within myself when I was becoming very exhausted and confused about how my life is gonna be, because I was losing motivation.
I also found an idol in Sir KC who is the epitomy of a passionate teacher of English. He indirectly introduced me to Mr. Pagsi of Ateneo who eventually became my ultimate idol. :)
THE FACILITIES
The facilities that are essential to the courses they offer and for the university to operate effectively are complete though could sure be improved still.
For College of Teacher Education, the facilities are adequate and appropriate. They have AV rooms and speech labs; the gym is quite complete; the library has been very useful; and there are rooms reserved for student organizations; etc.
My current job:
I am a teacher of Science and English at Princeton Science School - Home of Young Achievers in Batangas City. I teach grades 5 and 8. I am also a school paper adviser and essay writing coach.
How long did it take to find a job:
I found my job about four months after graduation.
I took the LET exam first.
