Why did I choose BSBA-HR:
Since High School, I dream to interview applicants or to be part of conducting training to the employees. And studying Human Resources have different channels of opportunity (Like being part of recruitment, admin, training, compensation and benefits and any other related field related to HR) that can help me to land a job.
About my college education:
I learned a lot of things with the course I take but there is one thing that struck me the most is learning the principles of the business organization, conducting training, labor laws and Organizational development that really helps me to do my current role in one of a social enterprise company here in the Philippines as a trainer.
I admit that not all subjects are easy as counting 1,2,3. I really had a hard time in studying Income Taxation, Business Finance and Logic (I know, you are surprised), not because of the subject matter but I think, the professors have their different approach in teaching the subject that sometimes makes the subject harder. But from there, there is one thing that the professors teach me, and it's all about being prepared and confident about yourself.
The most useful thing I learned, when we study the Training and Development Subject that helps me today in organizing and conducting training, making training modules and guidelines, and pre-training needs like doing training analysis.
Passing the exam? Yes, it is not difficult to pass the exams, but it depends upon your subject interest, but if you are not doing well and you don't like the subject, do not use it as an excuse! That is already your opportunity to prove that you are smart and hardworking student. Students fail the exam because they do not study well their lessons (Period), don't forget to apply the cause and effect principle when it comes to exam results.
Traits and Attitude to finish the course, here's the ingredients for your success!
8 Packs of Hardwork and Smartwork/ 1 pack per semester
8 Pieces of confidence/ don't be shy! It will help you to land a job easy
8 liters of Patience, I know it will be a long journey but never give up on what you will going to start, you will cultivate all of the good things after you graduate ;).
8 teaspoon of Bravery, too much is bad that will turn you mad and wild, A teaspoon of bravery is enough. It will help you to build confidence to face the challenges in your studies.
8 gallons of Integrity, Rule of thumb - cheating is good for you today but it will not help you to learn and to prepare yourself in the future. I admit, I cheat before I think once or twice but I learned from it. Don't let yourself harvest spoiled fruit at the end.
8 cups of stewardship, use your brain! it is a gift from God, so don't use it for useless things like playing games during class, or have a chit-chat with your seatmate. There is always a time and place for everything.
8 spoons of humility or humbleness/ there is I in Pride, not all people will like that! Letting your pride high will just contain you to learn more. If you don't know, ask someone that is good to the subject matter you HATE. Not all your classmate will help you but someone in the class or in the school will help you with the subject. Always remember that successful people always drink a dosage of humbleness and a swallow bars of pride.
Millions of Pieces of Faith, Have faith to our Creator, you know He have a plan for you why you choose that course or why you had a hard time in some of the subjects. Don't give up, don't jump to one course to another, He can't help you to establish yourself and prepare you in the future. Finish what you started and God is always there to help you to finish your training.
My current job:
Retail Training Associate is responsible for:
Create training modules aligned with the current process and operations furnished by Merchandising operations Department and training needs.
Conduct training to new hired merchandisers in preparation to their operational needs
Conduct up-skills training (product, sales training) to the merchandisers for performance and sales improvement
Monitor real time performance monitoring for coaching and evaluation
Create training and evaluation reports of the merchandisers
Am I using what I learned in college:
Not all of the subjects I learned are relevant to my current role. The things I learned in college that is very useful is about organizing training, doing training needs analysis, organizational development, and maybe some of accounting principles because training is also equal to the expense to the company so I also make reports about the expenditures while doing a certain training.
How long did it take to find a job:
I never had a hard time to land a job after graduation since I follow the advice of one of my professors that on our Final On the job Training, it must our prospected company. After Graduation, that was May of 2013, I continue my internship. After a month, my HR Manager told me to process my requirements and gave me the JO.

Advice to people who are thinking of studying this course:
Ensure you have deep interest in business organization, talking to other people, and ensure you have a strong personality but a mixture of humbleness and more importantly ensure that you really want the course, it is a big factor to consider in taking up the program. If you don't have any choice and BSBA is your last resort, think about it, I know you want to take up IT or Accountancy or Engineering and the slots are full : (but I will tell you, Human Resources in all companies ROCK! I know it myself because I am working in Human Resources Department. There will be a time you will fall in love with the course and embrace it. But if you really don't like it from the heart and mind and considering the course, you are wasting your time.
