◈ Studied BS in Applied Mathematics
◈ At University Of The Philippines Los Banos
◈ Graduated 2008

list bulletWhy did I choose Applied Mathematics: I am a Math lover ever since I was a kid. I've been always good with numbers!

list bulletAbout my college education: I have a passion for logical thinking. With BS AMath, there are a lot of logical thinking and problem solving involved. I can describe it as challenging and very interesting. Aside from being good with numbers, a student needs to be keen on details, patient and hard working in order to succeed, perhaps not only in AMath, but in any degree program as well.

list bulletMy current job: I am a planning analyst in a manufacturing company. It's a supply chain job where you are to plan the schedule of raw materials purchase based on the actual consumption in the production area.

list bulletAm I using what I learned in college: The hardcore math theories, definitely a NO. What I am able to use though is the analytical skills I have fully developed back in college. As well as the professionalism and value for work that was ingrained to me in my stay as a UP student.

list bulletHow long did it take to find a job: 3 months

list bulletDo I recommend studying Applied Mathematics: It is very exciting course. But if you are not good with numbers to begin with, I do not suggest that you take the course.
But in respect to employment opportunities and salary levels, this is definitely a course I can recommend! I am very satisfied and fulfilled with my job right now. And I believe that there are a lot of satisfying jobs available for graduates like me.

list bulletAdvice to people who are thinking of studying this course: You are dealing with a lot of numbers all throughout your stay in the university. You need to have the passion to move forward and determination to finish the course. And no matter how many road blocks and detours that you may encounter along the way, just don't give up and eventually, you'll reach the pit stop! Good luck! :)

list bulletWhy did I choose Applied Mathematics: I chose this course because I really love Mathematics. I dreamed also to become a great mathematician someday. I want to impart my knowledge to those who are willing to learn more about the applications of different fields of Math.

list bulletAbout my college education: I learned a lot in every field of mathematics and it's applications. I think there is no subject that I can say difficult because our teachers are very good in discussing every topic. The difficult part is entering the University because the entrance exam and the interview are very difficult. There are a lot of applicants every year and few are chosen.
I am very happy because I choose this course is is very helpful foundation to pursue graduate studies.

list bulletMy current job: I now 25 and at that very young age I am a former Assistant Professor 1 at ABE International Business College (member of AMA Group of Companies).

Presently, I am in study leave because of the scholarship grant of the DOST-SEI.
I finished my BSAM 2010 and MA Math 2013 at WVSU also. Now, I am taking up my Ph.D. in Science Education major in Mathematics as a full time scholar sponsored by the DOST-SEI in the same university also.

list bulletAm I using what I learned in college: I am a very successful teacher because of the lessons that I learned from that prestigious university. I shared the knowledge that I learned to my students and itched this knowledge to their hearts and mind.

list bulletHow long did it take to find a job: I graduated March 2010, and after a week I become an Assistant Area Supervisor during the Census in Population and Housing (CPH 2010)

list bulletDo I recommend studying Applied Mathematics: There are lot of opportunities if you take BS Applied Math as your course since, when you are already fourth there is a majoring either you choose Teaching, Business or Banking. Actually, since you are mathematician digits doesn't matter they are also numbers even though they are not equal you can treat them equally.

list bulletAdvice to people who are thinking of studying this course: My advice to those students who want to take BS Applied Math is that the prerequisite is that of course you love Math and you will marry Math. If you do this then you will be a great Mathematician. Just in the saying in the movie "3 Idiots", "Follow excellence and success will chase you."

◈ Studied BS in Applied Mathematics
◈ At Cavite State University - Indang Campus
◈ Graduated 2003

list bulletWhy did I choose Applied Mathematics: It was my second choice actually. First was Computer Engineering but I was not allowed by my father, because it would take me five years. Chose Bs Applied Mathematics because I was challenged to take a course that others hate.

list bulletAbout my college education: What was difficult is that you will study how formulas were derived.
What was enjoyable was that you've got to know what others wont even try to know.
What was boring was thinking you wont be needing those symbols and formula when you work (unless teaching profession).
What was interesting was how I understand those and passed the exams!

When taking and choosing this course, you should be patient in studying, careful in analyzing and most of all you should trust yourself that while others succeeded in graduating from this course, you can also make it!

list bulletMy current job: I am currently an HR Officer. I handle our employees needs, records, benefits and compensations. Assist in Administration in implementing company policies.

list bulletHow long did it take to find a job: 6 months.

list bulletDo I recommend studying Applied Mathematics: Employment opportunities - no.
Fulfilling/interesting career - no.
Salary level - no.

list bulletAdvice to people who are thinking of studying this course: Study hard, focus on statistics, and the best job for it is Teaching.
