Why did I choose :
I chose this course because I wanted to become a businesswoman. I could have chosen Entrepreneurship instead, but during high school, I have always been a go-getter and love to show people what and how to do things. I've always imagined myself being a leader and a businesswoman; hence, Management.
About my college education:
If you want challenge, you take BSC Major in Management. That was my motto. Seeing it as such, college became enjoyable. I saw each assignment and project not as a hurdle, but as a goal towards a bigger goal. This way, my mind was already set to achieve, not complain about things required of me to get that diploma.
Positive thinking: That is the most important thing you must have to succeed, not only in this course, not only in college but also in life. How you see things, half full or half empty, will help you overcome obstacles that come your way.
My current job:
I am now a freelance worker doing mostly transcription from home. I was a single parent, and working from home was the only way I could do both work and being a mother at the same time. Now, I am married but still continued to work home-based so I could have more time for my family.
My wish to be a leader is still there. I am a leader in my own home, my husband being very supportive. Working from home instead of an office handling some people may have been my dream, but managing my home is my fulfillment.
Am I using what I learned in college:
Just like I mentioned a while ago, I may not have been able to use the things I learned in some of the courses offered, but I sure am glad I learned how to type and better my English, among other things. These two are the ones I use mostly for work. As for real life, the lessons I learned in college are not only in the courses I took but mostly integrated in the way my professors presented their lessons. This made me realize that a good professor are the ones whose lessons you carry even when you are not in class anymore.
How long did it take to find a job:
I started applying for a job even before I was about to graduate. Luckily, I got accepted at our University as an assistant to the registrar right after graduation. That gave me some experience that I was able to use for my next jobs.
Do I recommend studying :
For those that want to be successful in life, in whatever field you may be, BSC Major in Management will be good for you. The degree provides you with courses that are not only useful in the work environment, but also practical for daily living. Of course thare are things that I do not use or need now, like Labor Code or Taxation, but I am sure glad they had the basic English 101 and typing lessons! These are now very useful to me.
Employment is both opportunity and ability. Going to a good school enhances your ability, thus giving you more opportunity to find a better job that will lead to a better salary level.
For those who have the same interests as me, for those who want to become leaders and successful business people, take BSC Major in Management at Saint Louis University. Not only will they provide you with a good platform, but also guide you to better enhance your abilities.
