About my college education: Studying was not as easy as you go to school then come back home after a few hours. It is more than that. To me studying is a responsibility of everyone. We should study so we can contribute good things to our country.
When I was in college I was a scholar. It was not easy too. I need to study and work for the school at the same time. What I do is help our guidance counselor in paper works, help our librarian in distributing student cards etc. I also need to maintain my grades and be active in our organization. Everything was not easy but what I put in mind is that I love to be successful, I love to become rich so I can help my family and our country too, meaning I need to graduate with flying colors. From there I enjoy studying. I enjoy helping in schools paper works. For a student to succeed in this course you need to love it. Because if you love what you do everything will be smooth.

My current job: I am now a full time mom. After 5 years of working I finally settled.

Am I using what I learned in college: Some of what I learned are very useful. Computer knowledge and networking comes in handy when I worked.

How long did it take to find a job: It took 2 weeks for me to find a job. I got technical support job from Help Centric in Ortigas. It was a very hard job but you'll surely learn a lot.

Do I recommend studying : Yes. I will recommend this course to other students because nowadays every work uses a computer. Whatever it is that you want to pursue after graduation, just in case you want to change career, I can guarantee you that what you'll learn from IT will be beneficial.

About my college education: Interesting part of my course are the computer Languages, programming and technologies. And these requires skills are to be good in maths, logical thinking and of course willingness to study.

My current job: My current job is Librarian in an international school in Thailand.

Am I using what I learned in college: I've used what I've learned from my school. Except for the programming part, of course. I'm lousy in it. I would say, it helped me a lot, especially we're living in a tech world. Computer literate personnel are a must! And we have face the facts that the old methods are slowly fading and most people today are embracing the new devices or gadgets. So, it's a big "YES!"

How long did it take to find a job: A year! I needed a rest..
Well, not my school or records fault; but mine. I'm picky when it comes to jobs. I'm blessed because there are people that are needing or seeking jobs but couldn't fine any, but in my situation; I have the face to be picky.

Do I recommend studying Information Technology: I would suggest other course: Education.
But you must have the passion to teach not just an ordinary teacher but an effective teacher. There's a difference! It's not a profession but a calling, too!
Because the teaching of the a teacher, reflects in their students. If you're a stupid teacher, you're producing stupid kids, if your an effective teacher you will produce good fruits.

And of course if you choose a degree, make sure you wouldn't want to jump or shift to other courses because you failed or you give up. It's not an option. And you must prepare your budget, too! And family advice are acceptable, they are guides for you, but in the end you will be the one to choose your own course.
And must not regret it.

Why did I choose Information Technology: IT courses was a "boom" in these era wherein nursing was also on top, I really did not choose this course because I'm not into much programming and computers, it just happened that most of my friends and barkada took up this course and so we all enrolled at the same time at the same school. as I was young that time, I was not thinking thoroughly what job I could get after graduation.

About my college education: it was easy on the early years since you have barkadas with you and there's a lot of outings on the class, fun because mostly of our class are guys so expect bullies and crazy people hanging around. But during seniors years it makes more serious since thesis is not easy at all. I guess it all goes for any courses.

you need to be resourceful, analytical and logical. Since the course is more about programming.

My current job: programmer for a BPO

Am I using what I learned in college: I would say only 50% of what I learned during college has been used in my job, other 50% is based on new discovery onset of the job. though that 50% of what I learned from school was the foundation on the new learning now so it's really useful.

How long did it take to find a job: quite a long time since the competition is hard and Im meticulous about the company's salary and benefits, local companies offer basic compensation which I think is not enough compared to what you can do for the company. Just my part though..

Do I recommend studying Information Technology: IT employment is hard because you have a lot of competition and hard to get a pleasing company in the Phils, but if your vision is to go abroad then this course will surely test your skills and if you pass then you'l be rich!

for me it's not fulfilling since you'll be stuck in the office for the rest of your career, which is so boring for me.

salary is not good here in the Phil's, unless you go for BPO companies or go abroad.

As an advice, think... Think... Think.. Of a job that you want to do for the rest of your life, because you will not be successful if your not happy of what your doing. Like me, I'm now studying aviation to be a pilot, it was my dream since I was a young boy to fly and I know that being a pilot would be my work until I retire.

Advice to people who are thinking of studying this course: studying will help you a lot, you don't need to effort much on memorizing or keeping a building of books. again, it's more on analytical thinking and logic.

Why did I choose Information Technology: Because I like it. And it is a course that is keeps me updated to the latest technologies of today at the same time it is a very informative.

About my college education: I learned things about computers. How it functions and what are the different uses of it. How a computer is programmed what makes it work and how it works. I also learned about programming, networking, auto cad, animation, graphics design as well as web programming.

The most enjoyable subjects for me are the subjects that has actual application, like computer formation and networking. (although we didn't have the chance to further explore networking because we don't have enough materials). Programming is exciting and yet makes one crazy. Examination on programming subjects are quite hard.

Doing thesis and capstone are the hardest and the most difficult of all! They require high level programming skills, from which we had to really work hard on and learn by ourselves in order for us to create a final system that is very functional as expected. But on the other side finishing a system is very rewarding. Being able to create a system programmed by yourself is very uplifting and accomplishing.

Advice to people who are thinking of studying this course: Please do not just stick and rely alone on what your professors are teaching you. Use what they taught you as a starting point towards something greater. Example programming, they would only teach you the basics, the start ups, but you have to do many researches and practice and study beyond what they teach you. They plant the seeds, make it grow bigger and taller, water it and take care of it (this is kind of just an illustration) and all your efforts will bear fruits. Trust me.

Why did I choose Information Technology: I love computers and I wanted to know more about it. Also I want to prove that not all BSIT only knows how to use computer but also to innovate. And the employment rate for graduates of this course is very high, salary rates are above minimum rates, especially now that the Information Technology-Business Process Outsourcing (IT-BPO) services industries are booming here in the Philippines. Graduates of this course may easily find employment in both the commercial and technical sectors of the computing industry or other industries relying on information technology.

About my college education: Studying BS in Information Technology is difficult, especially when you don’t like thinking critically. But if you already know the flow or even the programming language that you’re using, it's fulfilling. Being an IT student and having friends because of this course it’s very fulfilling. There are different types of exams in my course, the most difficult ones are the hands-on exam, and also the logical and programming subjects.

You have to have a persevering attitude and a good study habits to succeed in this course.

My current job: My current job is a freelance web content editor.
I'm responsible for creating, editing and publishing information on websites. We produce materials for publication on websites of different companies.

How long did it take to find a job: It took a long time, almost 3 months, because there were lots of students who graduated this April 2014.

Advice to people who are thinking of studying this course: Everyone who wants to take BSIT course, he or she needs to be creative and needs to be a critical thinker, because BSIT is not about knowing how to use computer but you need to know how all related to computer works.

Why did I choose Information Technology: I chose this course because I wanted to have a work like the work of my father. He is a programmer in one of the popular banks in Singapore and knowing his salary and benefits I really wanted to work in that bank.

About my college education: I learned different programming languages like PHP, Visual Basic, Java, C++ that I can use in applying for a job and also for my future job. All subject for me were difficult, but if you focus and you concentrate in every subject it will be easy. The most useful thing that I learned was knowing how to code and how to understand programming languages and computer problem. All the exams were difficult, you need to review all the topics that you took in you class.

My current job: As of now I don't yet have a job.

Advice to people who are thinking of studying this course: I advice that you need a lot of patience in this course. also you need to think differently, not just a simple but a logistic. you also need to understand all the syntax that you will encounter.

Why did I choose Information Technology: I chose to study this course because I love computers. I like to play computer games and I thought that someday I am the who will create a better game and I will develop my own game.

About my college education: I learned how to develop android application and other programming language that I can use for developing computer games that I really want. The most difficult was the embedded system where you need to develop a blakcberry application. The most useful was learning how to understand every syntax and code of the program. It was difficult to pass the exams, all of us need to review all night long just to remember what our professor taught us.

My current job: Now I'm still waiting for a call from the company that I applied. It a IT company.

Advice to people who are thinking of studying this course: I advice you don't take a course that you don't want, because you will not enjoy it and you will never pass it.

Why did I choose Information Technology: I chose this because I really liked computers, especially in games and animation. When I was a kid I really liked drawing cartoons and playing computer games this might be why I chose this course.

About my college education: I have learned programming and how to use different software. All programming assignments were difficult. Keyboard typing, programming, installations of software are the most useful things I have learned.

I think exams were challenging and not difficult. Those who did not study failed the exams. There are few people who shifted to other courses. You need patience, enthusiasm to learn and enjoy.

My current job: IT Helpdesk - basically we are providing information and support to computer users, we are like technical support, but usually we troubleshoot the problem of the users in computers, like how to install Ms office or change their password in computers. They will report their concerns through phones, chat or emails.

How long did it take to find a job: 2 months.

Do I recommend studying Information Technology: Yes, I would because nowadays we are mostly using computers in almost all business.

Advice to people who are thinking of studying this course: For those who want to be a BSIT be prepared, be ready this will be your career. Take difficult activities as a challenge and enjoy every class. Participate in contest (i.e. Photoshop) and develop what field in IT you really want or you really like. (i.e. Programmer, technical support,)

Why did I choose Information Technology: Because I likes being techie it's being part of me since I was a kid, I love to do fixing or breaking things.

About my college education: Useful things I have learned was also programming.
Subjects that gave me a hard time are the minor subjects.
Passing exams are sometimes easy and most of the time it like passing through the walls of fire, few gave up and few failed. Some still shifted because of the thesis.
Open minded determination will of fire and the ability to surpass anything

My current job: Still unemployed, looking for a job for over a year since graduation.

Am I using what I learned in college: None as of the moment

Do I recommend studying Information Technology: Programmers are in demand and their salary ranges from 20-30k.

Advice to people who are thinking of studying this course: Just never give up when it gets tough. Just go with the flow and always update your self about technology and explore some programs specially programming.

Why did I choose Information Technology: I chose this course because my uncle suggested to me to take this course. Nowadays this is one of the courses that requires high demands and comes with a considerable salary. Moreover, I have the capability to absorb and learn everything this course can offer.

About my college education: I learned different development tools. I learned to be determined and exert extra efforts in everything I do. The most difficult subject I've encountered was my capstone. The most useful things I've learned are my experiences to deal with situations related to software development and client negotiations.

There are times that passing the exams takes a lot of sacrifices and efforts you usually exert. No matter how hard you study there are times you'll find yourself somewhat lucky and there are times you'll came up short. Due to repetitive case, there are number of students opt to shift to another course.

My current job: Associate Software Engineer

How long did it take to find a job: Even before graduation I was fortunately hired in the company.

Advice to people who are thinking of studying this course: Have the time to add extra efforts. Adapt in the environment where you feel comfortable that you could handle this situation. Always seek help of your friends at times that you find things seems hard to accomplish.

Why did I choose Information Technology: I shifted to this course because my past course was boring.

About my college education: The most difficult was programming subjects. The most enjoyable was bonding with my friends. Some of the exams are difficult and some of the students need to retake their exam and some of the others are need to repeat the subject.
The course requires someone who have a lot and long patience and you need to think logically.

My current job: My current job is in a bank.

Why did I choose Information Technology: BS Information Technology is really a tough and challenging course which requires tough critical thinking skills, problem-solving skills, plus mathematical and technical skills. I like puzzles, I like problem-solving and most of all I like technology.

About my college education: I've learned a lot. My first programming language was the C Programming Language. At first, it looks like quite intimidating, but in the end it is a taste of sweet achievement to learn basics. I've learned various programming languages such as C, C++, COBOL, Java, etc. I also learned database management such as MySQL and MS SQL Server. I also learned Cisco Networking, such as routing and switching.

I didn't find programming to be so difficult as long as you keep yourself ahead of the lessons. Passing the exams was difficult especially in laboratory exams which requires hands-on programming quizzes and exercises. Many of my classmates fail and some did shifted to another course. It is common to most IT subjects that includes mathematical problem-solving and some people find it difficult sometimes, including me.

In my experience, programming might look intimidating at first, but yeah, it is true. The learning curve might be steep, but I'm sure that it is a promising result in the end if you are determined and motivated to learn. You might get worn out sometimes, that it even may took you several hours or days just to make your program to execute correctly with this case you always need always to be optimistic that even "Even a slow progress is also progress".

My current job: I'm a Web Developer. I develop web applications with the use of different development tools and frameworks. I do both front-end and back-end development. Most of my colleagues are from the well-known universities in the country including PUP.

How long did it take to find a job: 1 Month after graduation.

About my college education: It was both hard and nice at the time, but rewarding.

Do I recommend studying Information Technology: There are lots of employment opportunities for IT graduates (call center agents, computer technicians, software developer, designing hardware, communications networks, Internet applications developer and many others)

Salary level depends on what field of specialization you are working. It's around 12k and above.

Advice to people who are thinking of studying this course: First you must love the course you choose because it will lead you either to success or failure. Strive hard and find your specialties.

About my college education: My education or should I say my college life is full of memories when it comes to friends, professors and other people. I can say it's hard but still I passed it through all my efforts and with the help of the people around me.
The most important skill that is required to succeed as a student is being a good person, you can get along well with other people, of course hard working and learnings came from the professors.

About my college education: The Bachelor of Science Information Technology (BSIT) Program is focused on the acquisition, deployment and management of information technology resources and services, as well as the development and evolution of technology infrastructures and systems for use in organization’s processes.

The BS in Information Technology education program It had help me much in my view of technology manipulation.

Its very interesting to know more about the different Information technology aspects, like the Web Systems, Databases and Computer Networking.

It's a difficult course anyway, to have known functions to perform those computer commands and math or calculations, programming, networking, operating systems, made my world up and down in Information Technology.

My current job: I work at Webzen Games as an Editorial Assistant. Yes, it is somehow related I think for us Editorial assistants or EA have a hand over data management over that complex multi-tasked system, the computer. An editorial assistant often takes on secretarial work and, sometimes, works as a general assistant. I write, edits, as well that can be commanded in the computer. It's the advantage I had been in the IT course to work fast and advance in my work right now.

How long did it take to find a job: After graduation, it just took me 2 months to go on and find a job though, there are many job opens anyway, you just have to be seeking using jobstreets or some sites at the net.

Do I recommend studying Information Technology: Yes, I am recommending Information Technology course for it is one of the high paid jobs in the country, you'll have many fall backs or job opens are many with the IT course.
