◈ Graduated 2016

list bulletWhy did I choose Fisheries & Aquatic Resources: Because of the scholarship that I qualified. I had not choice but to enroll BS Fisheries then. Besides, BS Fisheries was the most in demand for the country so I chose this course.

list bulletAbout my college education: The BS Fisheries course is practical and we were taught different ways and technologies to rear and produce fishery to sustain our fish demand in the market. We were learned to breed different progenies of fishes and shrimp to come out to a better breed.

But first you have to undergo the basic core sciences like Biology, Botany, Zoology before you can carry Fishery subjects.

The most challenging part of my college years is when I did dissected weird species like frogs because I am sensitive but later I learn to tolerate that was in my Bio class.

I find the culturing of fish in ponds, fish-processing, mangrove species identifying, was very useful and also my organic chemistry were we make wines.

Almost all my subjects were very easy because my profs are kind but sometimes the exam will become enumeration and I will have difficult in answering.

Also I manage to finished my very hard thesis were I went places to survey and count species but thanks to our handsome prof. Btw I almost graduate with flying colors but because of my 3 subjects (2 Minors and 1 Major) I am disqualified even so I am "With-distinction".

And after all my 4 years studying I can say that you need a lot of patience in this school it don't matter if your the smart but being industrious and persisting will put you on top of the game. And also character is still the best because if you have good attitude you will success! You have to be friendly with your teachers as well because they are the mentors and you follow them because they known a lot experiences and knowledge. The most important be humble...

list bulletMy current job: I was already a Fisheries Technician from BFAR Nueva Ecija. I assisted on counting and identify plankton from physiology lab. I also manage to tend fishes particularly the freshwater ones.

list bulletAm I using what I learned in college: Yes! Very useful and I am already using it in my work and one day I wish I was managing a large fish farm house to contribute well to my beloved town Binmaley. I want to produce hybrid bangus, tilapia, and my most favorite vannamei shrimps which is very lucrative.

list bulletHow long did it take to find a job: 4 months

list bulletDo I recommend studying Fisheries & Aquatic Resources: Yes! I highly recommend the BS Fisheries because you already have that clear future in this career. And this course is very in demand.

Expect for a rewarding salary because it depends on you may earned 20k-30k for starting according to my profs. Mind was only 20k because I was new in work. But if you become a veteran you earned more than 50k up to half a million. Sounds good right?

list bulletAdvice to people who are thinking of studying this course: COME AND JOIN! Become a Fisheries Technologist because their is bright future in this career. This may not be popular but this course is very in-demand. We need a lot of Aquatic Scientists out their and be part of this working team in aimed for economic progress. We needed more food supply on this Earth so we need Specialists to grow and tend us for something to eat, so if you want to be useful in the country then be a BS Fisheries. ORAYT!

◈ At Mindanao State University - Gensan
◈ Graduated 2016

list bulletWhy did I choose Fisheries & Aquatic Resources: At first, fisheries is not my first choice, but because I needed to enter MSU, I pursue this course even it's not my first choice.

list bulletMy current job: Auditor for Aquaculture & fishery-base commodities

list bulletHow long did it take to find a job: Before graduation, I got my first job.

list bulletDo I recommend studying Fisheries & Aquatic Resources: BS Fisheries is not having a good track, in terms of societal perspective. Society sees fisheries as cheap and no future course. But they don't know, your success depends on you. It depends on how you handle yourself in real world, it depends how you face you interviewer during your job interview, and it does not depend on your course.

list bulletAdvice to people who are thinking of studying this course: Fisheries was not my first choice course. I underestimated this course, because I thought, I have no future in this course, but I was totally wrong. This course have given me a lot of opportunities. I was able to traveled in most places in the Philippines and had international travels because of this course. Today, I realized and then learnt that your future does not always depends on the course you are taking. Its on how will handle your self in the cruel real world.
