Why did I choose Criminology:
At first it was may dad's choice because honestly I really don't know what course I want. Later on I used to enjoy it and after four years I finished it and in the same year I am already a Registered Criminologist. And made me realize that it was meant for me. This is what I want. God put me on this. And It was very hard and challenging course indeed. Because it studies more on reality like how to suppress and repress criminals. How the society helps to prevent crimes. Studies the every section of Philippine Constitution, how to deal with the Philippine Laws. Learn self defense, and of course how to be a Good member of the Philippine National Police.
About my college education:
I learned a lot here like Philippine Laws, how it is effective to the society and not. How to defend myself if ever I'm in trouble physically and legally I mean in terms of the laws, assembling guns, watched how to autopsy dead bodies, target shooting using different kinds of firearms, and also learned how to be a law abiding citizen of our country. Useful things I learned are self defense, and the Philippine constitution. Yes the exams were hard, more situational. So always give our best shot. On our batch no one shifted to other course but some decided to stop for some personal reasons. Like in every course in order to succeed, one must have faith, patience, goals, and inspiration.
My current job:
I don't have job yet I'm currently applying for Philippine National Police, I just passed the physical test and the neuro-psychiatric test still waiting for the medical examination that would be the last and hopefully by August I will undergo 6 months of training. This kind of job will enforce the law, serve and protect the community well as our country.
How long did it take to find a job:
After graduation April 2013, I took free review for board exam and passed it November 2013. Apply for PNP January till now July 2014. the process took so long because of the government budget for this years recruitment. Only for this year and now the process is ongoing.the government is in charge of expenses on every examination.
Do I recommend studying Criminology:
Employment opportunities, benefits, and increasing salary, incentives and bonuses. Fresh graduate can earn depends on what field they apply for. If it's in private sector or government. I prefer them to work on government. 15-20 thousand a month and have bonus, incentive, benefits for their family food uniform allowances.
Advice to people who are thinking of studying this course:
When you study BS Criminology you must consider that it is not only entering the Philippine National Police and Security Guards are the jobs that fit on this course. You have a lot of choices and it's better if you passed the board exam, you can choose Bureau of Fire Protection, Bureau of Jail Management Protection, Special Action Force, Forensic Ballistics Expert, Questioned Document Expert you can work on banks, Professor, Phil. Coast Guard and many more.
