Program Overview
The Master of Arts in Math (MA-MATH) is a two-year graduate program that builds upon and enhances the skills and knowledge gained from undergraduate mathematics or mathematics-related program. The program is intended for students who wish to pursue a career in teaching mathematics at the high school or university level or for those who wish to pursue a research career in mathematics. The program is also intended for those working in fields where mathematical skills and analysis is needed, such as finance, actuary, and engineering.
Recommended Undergraduate Program
Students who wish to pursue a graduate degree in MA in Mathematics should currently be taking an undergraduate degree in science and mathematics field. However, students who are not currently taking an undergraduate program in those fields but still wish to pursue the program are encouraged to take at least 18 units of courses in the relevant fields.

The student must have an undergraduate degree relevant to the program

An applicant with a degree not in line with the science and mathematics field may still be admitted to the program as long as they take the pre-requisite courses. However, some colleges and universities admit any bachelor’s degree holders.

Program Outcome
Graduates of MA in Mathematics are expected to be able to:

Communicate mathematical ideas in a precise language both in oral and writing

Understand the importance of mathematics and its relevance to other disciplines
Board Exam
The MA in Mathematics does not have a board examination. However, graduates may opt to take the Civil Service Examination (CSE) conducted by the Philippine Civil Service Commission (PCSC) to qualify in working in government offices. Some graduates opt to take a Doctorate degree to further gain expertise in the industry.
Career Opportunities
Graduates of MA in Mathematics may pursue a career path in educational or financial institutions, business companies, or government agencies. They may apply as a mathematics professor, mathematician, math department head, investment manager, financial analyst, statistician, algorithm developer, systems developer, or a researcher.
