The Master of Arts in Communication (MS-COMM) is a two-year graduate program that builds upon and enhances the skills and knowledge gained in an undergraduate program in communication and other related disciplines. It trains students to handle contemporary and emerging communication issues at both national and international levels. The program also helps students gain a view of communications within a humanistic context.
Recommended Undergraduate Program
Students who wish to pursue a graduate degree in the Master of Arts in Communication should have an undergraduate degree in the communication field. However, students who do not hold an undergraduate program in the field but still wish to pursue the program are encouraged to take at least 18 units of courses in the relevant fields.

An applicant with a degree not in line with the communication field may still be admitted to the program as long as they take the pre-requisite courses. However, some colleges and universities admit any bachelor’s degree holders.

Board Exam
The Master of Arts in Communication does not have a board examination. However, graduates may opt to take the Civil Service Examination (CSE) conducted by the Philippine Civil Service Commission (PCSC) to qualify in working in government offices. Some graduates opt to take a Doctorate degree to further gain expertise in the industry.
Career Opportunities
Graduates of MA in Communication may pursue a career path in media-communication organizations, government agencies, advertising agencies, production houses or companies engaged in using communication resources for development. They may apply as a corporate communication officer, internal communications specialist, communications manager, communication analyst, marketing communications manager, communication skill and product trainer, academician, or a researcher.
