About my college education:
I guess the main skill needed for success on our course is versatility. This is because of the fact that we should be knowledgeable in math and sciences (biology, chemistry, physics) at the same time we should be good in communication (both verbal and written). I can say that I was not versatile at first, but I became open and learned many things because of the training in the University.
My current job:
Government employee (science research specialist)
Am I using what I learned in college:
We were not just taught the things on the books, but we were taught how to be brave and to be critical. We were taught not to be afraid to speak up if we have something sensible to say and to stand up for what we believe in. It has been very useful for me - in real life, when I was teaching, and in my present job.
How long did it take to find a job:
After graduation, I didn't apply for a job; I became a freelance tutor. When I finally decided to look for a job, I was accepted easily.
Do I recommend studying :
Employment opportunities - Yes. There are so many schools that are in need of science and math teachers.
Fulfilling/interesting career - What else would be more fulfilling than shaping the future of the young generations?
Salary level - Salary of teachers are not that high (compared to other jobs); however, if you are living a simple life, it is more than enough.
