The Bachelor of Science in Education major in Mathematics (BSEd-MATH) program seeks to train students to become effective Mathematics teachers for both elementary and high school level.

Students who take up the BSEd major in Mathematics who would like to work as licensed teachers for both primary and secondary level must take up additional course units in education to qualify for taking the Licensure Examination for Teachers.

Graduates will also obtain skills necessary for working in the fields of mathematics and finance.

Admission requirements for BSEd major in Mathematics the Philippines

Must have recommendation from high school principal and guidance counsellor
Must have the Original copy of high school card (Form 138A)
Must have most recent medical and dental health record
Must take and pass the College Entrance Examination
Must have a copy of NSO certified birth certificate
Must have a certificate of good moral character
Must have a copy of high school diploma
One 2”x 2” copy of latest photo

Licensure examination required in order to practice as Math teachers in the Philippines

A graduate of BSEd major in Mathematics needs to pass Licensure Examination for Teachers in order to practice the profession as teachers in the Philippines. The examination is given by the Board of Professional Teachers under the supervision of the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).

Requirements for the Licensure Examination for Teachers

Must be a holder of a degree in BSEd in Mathematics with academic credits on required subjects from a university recognized by the Philippine government.
Must have a copy of the Transcript of Records with Special order and date of graduation with remarks “FOR BOARD EXAMINATION PURPOSES ONLY”
Must not have any case filed or pending for moral turpitude in any court in the Philippines that involves moral turpitude
Must have an original copy of community tax certificate (cedula)
Must have a copy of the NSO authenticated birth certificate
Must be of good health and sound mind
Must be of good moral character
Must be a Filipino Citizen

About my college education: My university days is a mix of everything. Interesting, difficult, enjoyable, challenging and many more. All you have to do is not to be lazy and study hard in order to gain high grades for your own benefit in the near future.

My current job: I am a secondary mathematics teacher abroad, particularly in Thailand.

Am I using what I learned in college: Yes it is! most of what I've learned in college is in use where I am today. Like how to make a lesson plan, how to make a lesson interesting, how to deal with students behavior, and many more.

How long did it take to find a job: After I gradauted the university, I took a job as an instructor in a certain college school.

Do I recommend studying BSEd in Mathematics: Nowadays, BSED Mathematics is in need abroad. There are a lot of job opportunities specially here in Thailand. It is fulfilling and interesting career and have a high salary level.
