Why did I choose Office Administration:
On the first day of the college enrollment facing the university I want to enroll myself, I don't know where particular to go and what course I want to take. My mother accompany me at the school without the knowledge of what are the university enrollment procedures. Entering the main gate of the university and being amazed of what it looks and how big it is. Roaming around the university to find the colleges and to look for the courses offered, because of the crowd roaming everywhere we landed on the college of commerce and accountancy and there I saw my elementary friend and also our valedictorian way back in elementary and she also didn't decide yet what course she would take. Upon entering the building there are two doors that designates two courses in that building;Accountancy and Office Administration. I want to choose the Office Administration because I feel it less difficult from Accountancy course but my friend drag me to the Accountancy door and ask me to accompany her because
About my college education:
The part of difficulty would only be adjusting to the course I shifted and how I mingle to my new classmates. There are also certain subjects that give me stressful and sleepless nights on studying such as Business Law and Accounting.
The enjoyable part on studying this course would be studying even the kinds of tabs a single folder have. It's amazing how a simple thing turns out to complicate if you just study it deeply. My Stenography subjects that makes us unique from other courses because they think it's Arabic when they see us writing it and when we are reading it and someone would tend to say that we are intelligent individual because we can transcribe and read those writing that looks like worms. The student-instructor relationship that is developed that makes the student open to their sentiments to their instructor which greatly helps students aid their gap and create a positive change in their study habit and views on studying for their future.
The boring part would be vacation time, supposedly it should be the happiest moment for the student because they are can relaxed and go somewhere to unwind but for me it is boring because I'll be missing my friends, my mentors, the classrooms, the noise from the lobby, the different faces of people I encounter everyday in the bus, the smell of rooms, the raging of crowds in the gate, the angry security guards, the benches where we study, the shade of trees, the library where I live during my vacant hours. This are the things that I don't want to miss and the things that makes me feel boring and empty.
The interesting part is knowing the new instructor every start of the semester, their rules, their likes, and their grading system. Also at the end of the semester knowing the grades in the respective instructors office and tables is one thing that gives me interest. Upon studying this course my interests on offices and how it works and manage fulfill it's craving portion, the shallow knowledge is now into it's clearer view and the empty block of learning turns out to be an asset.
Being patient even to small thing that would turn out to be complicating the biggest thing is one of the trait is required in succeeding this course because this course study even the part of a simple paper where other people find it just ordinary and not important. Having a positive outlook in life and a big dream on finishing the course your are taking will bring you the success you are dreaming of.
My current job:
For now, I still don't have the job but I'm on the process of submitting applications to banks and companies.
Am I using what I learned in college:
The things that I learn from college greatly helped me in my OJT days more particularly in handling the customers at hand in a bank premises. The ability to create a bond with the client without necessarily looking into his/her personal data but through analyzing the person and the situation in a rightful condition that tend to make both parties comfortable with each other.
Advice to people who are thinking of studying this course:
Do not be afraid, if you want this course then take it. Do not fear for you think it's difficult and you cant handle it. How would you know it's level of difficulty if you wouldn't try. Maybe you would say upon seeing the prospectus that it's difficult because the descriptive title of the subjects are long and contains awesome word combination but it's not what you think. I've been through that also when I'm still freshman but upon brainstorming my views on my own it's not that difficult because when I'm having my major subject with it's weird names it turns out having the grades of a scholar and I develop into a consistent scholar until I graduated. Its not the strength that you hold first but it is the fear you let out as your primary emotion. Be one of us and see the difference after.
