Reviews of BS in Industrial Technology graduates:

A. K.
◈ Studied B.S. in Industrial Technology
◈ At Cotabato State University
◈ Graduated 2007

list bulletWhy did I choose Industrial Technology: My best friend came to me and told me that we should take this course, and we should go to the same school, and since he was starting to irritate me I just said yes.

list bulletAbout my college education: I cannot remember anything special or practical but I think the most practical thing I learned in school is that in business one must be good at mathematics. To tell you I do not like math but I passed it. One of the best part of our school activity was that we often go to retreats, I like it most when our class go outdoors.

list bulletMy current job: I currently work as a cashier at Yellow Cab Pizza, This occupation is not that high paying, but the salary here is better than the last time that I was working at Cotabato. Today I earn 42.00 pesos per hour.

list bulletAm I using what I learned in college: When I was studying in college we were taught to be always honest and hardworking. I never forgot that and I am happy that through my honesty and diligence my employer continues to trust me.

list bulletHow long did it take to find a job: After graduating it didn’t take me long to look for a job. There was a newly opened pharmacy at our Barangay that time and I thought that I should try my luck. I applied for any position that was available. Luckily after 1 month they called and hired me to work as a customer service staff.

list bulletDo I recommend studying Industrial Technology: Working as a cashier the salary level would range from P7,400 – P8,500/month.
An industrial technology graduate will most likely get the job as a supervisor, if you were to work as a supervisor the salary level would range P7,800 – P 9,700/month. Comparing a cashier’s salary to a supervisor’s salary it is almost the same, the only difference is being a supervisor means having more work to do. One of the reasons I applied for cashier is due to the comparison of the salary.

list bulletAdvice to people who are thinking of studying this course: I would advise anyone who considers taking up Industrial Technology to read a lot and not depend on the teachers. They are there only to guide you but not to teach a lot. Like one of our professor said “I am only here to guide you to your goal, I am not here to do it for you”.
