Course description:
The Masters of Science in Regional Development Planning, or the SPRING Program, is a joint offering of UP-SURP and the Technical University of Dortmund (TUDo) in Germany, focusing on regional and district development planning, with emphasis on rural areas.
The two-year program runs for the first year at TUDo and the second year at UP-SURP.
The program at TUDo consists of the following subjects:
Agriculture Development Planning
Ecology and Environment Planning
Financing and Budgeting
Regional Settlement Pattern
Organization and Management, Participation
Program Management and Project Planning
Regional Economic Development Planning
Social Infrastructure and Demography
Development Theories and strategies
Transport Planning
It further contains several workshops and seminars, including:
Carthography, Aerial Photography, Geographical Information Systems (GIS)
Computer Workshop
German Planning System
Group Facilitation Techniques and Conflict Resolution Strategies
Planning and Decision-Making Theory
Planning Workshop
Introduction to Scientific Research and Writing
SPRING Colloquium
The program at UP-SURP includes the following subjects:
Research Methods in Planning
Regional Planning Analysis and Techniques
Special Problems in Regional Planning
Regional Planning Workshop
Master’s Thesis
Optional Subjects (from other UP Colleges such as Public Administration, Social Work and Community Development, Transportation Planning, etc)
Admission requirements:
1. Original copy and one (1) set of photocopy of Transcripts of Records (TOR) of all college and graduate work
2. Original (for authentication) and one (1) photocopy of National Statistics Office (NSO) Birth Certificate (For non-UP Diliman graduates applicants)
3. Original (for authentication) and one (1) photocopy of National Statistics Office (NSO) marriage contract for married women whose TOR reflects their maiden names
4. Four (4) original copies of recent passport size photos. Cut out or scanned photos are not accepted.
5. References (Former professors or employees only. To be sent directly to our office by the recommending parties)
Diploma and MA applicants – two (2) references
For PhD applicants – three (3) references

P300.00 – Filipino applicants
