APPLICATION AND ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
To qualify for admission, applicants must
1. Have a bachelor’s degree in language/literature or related specializations or experience in teaching language/literature
2. Have a general weighted average (GWA) of 2.0 or higher in their bachelor’s program. (Applicants who fail to meet this requirement but have adequate experience in teaching language or literature may be considered for admission)
3. Pass the MALL admission test
TOEFL Requirement for Foreign Students
Proof of English and/or Filipino proficiency shall be required of students whose native language is not English or Filipino, except those who graduated from institutions where the medium of instruction is English or Filipino.
For English proficiency, a score of at least 500 in the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) shall be required. For Filipino proficiency, a certification shall be required from a duly authorized unit of the University.
Each application for admission into a master’s program shall be accomplished in the official application form and accompanied by the official transcript of records, and two (2) written recommendations from former professors or experts in the field.
Each application shall be submitted to the appropriate College/Unit Graduate Office/Committee and referred to the head of College/Unit concerned for evaluation.
The deserving applicant shall be recommended for admission for admission by the latter to the Dean/Director, through channels.
Applications for a system program shall be submitted to the appropriate body in the autonomous unit where the system program is being offered.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must submit the following:
1. Duly accomplished application form (UPB-GP Form 1)
2. Official Transcript of Records (OTR) of undergraduate and graduate work, original and one (1) photocopy
3. Accomplished Reference Report Form (UPB-GP Form 2) from one (1) employer/immediate supervisor and two (2) teacher references
4. For married women, two (2) copies of their marriage contract
5. Birth certificate (2 copies)
6. Application and testing fee
Language Requirement
The student must pass a language proficiency test or earn six units of same-language course in a foreign language other than English, or in a Philippine language other than Filipino, Tagalog, and the student’s first language.

Admission Requirements - Freshmen:
Graduates of accredited high schools may be admitted as freshman on the basis of their:
1. Performance in the U.P. College Admission Test (UPCAT),
2. Weighted average in the first three years of high school,
3. Choice of U.P. College/unit, and
4. Qualification for college admission through the National College Entrance Examination (NCEE).
All UPCAT applicants must submit the following requirements:
1. Official copy of Form 137 or consolidated transcript of records with high school grades as specified above;
2. Correctly and completely accomplished forms (U.P. Form #1 & #2);
3. Four (4) identical recent 2" x 2" photographs; and
4. A non-refundable application fee P250 for Filipinos with annual gross family income of more than P6O, OOO.
Admission Requirements - Transferees:
Transfer within UP
1. True copy of grades to be filed together with the application form;
2. Permit to transfer and clearance to be submitted upon admission
3. 30 collegiate academic units
Transfer from other Universities and Colleges
1. Genera weighted average of 2.0, 86%, B, or better for all the
Collegiate academic units taken outside the University;
2. They have completed at least 33 academic units; and
3. They complete in the University not less than 50% of the units required for their degree programs.
Admission Requirements - Foreign Students:
Graduates of high schools abroad may be admitted as beginning freshmen into non-quota programs without taking the UPCAT provided they meet other specific requirements. For further details, inquire at the Office of the Registrar.
This school is included under the "Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education" law that passed in 2017.
The law covers students enrolled in State and Local universities/colleges in Bachelors and Certificate programs.
Under the Law students in accredited State and Local universities/colleges will not pay any tuition fees or misc fee.
The Law covers only first time students (students who don't already have a college degree).
However, the full implementation of this law is not clear yet.
