Scholarships at UE Ramon Magsaysay

COLLEGE OF MEDICINE

1. Entrance Scholars

• University Entrance Scholar– this entitles the awardee to a free tuition fee, laboratory fee and miscellaneous fees (equivalent to approximately PhP170, 000 per year) and is awarded to a Freshman who is a holder of the Latin Honor in BS course with NMAT of 85% or better, and is recommended by the Committee on Admissions and the Committee on Scholarships and Academic Honors with concurrence of the Dean, College of Medicine, and approval of the President of the Medical Center. Summa Cum Laude graduates will be entitled to an additional book allowance amounting to PhP15,000.00.

To be entitled to succeeding year level scholarship, the student must meet the following criteria:

- He must maintain a GWA of 1.75 or better
- He must maintain a good behavior
- He must be continuously enrolled

• President Dalupan Entrance Scholarship

- Full scholarship – this entitles the awardee to free full tuition and laboratory fees for one year and is granted to incoming Freshmen who graduated Summa Cum Laude or Magna Cum Laude from his pre-med course, and is recommended by the Committee on Admissions and the Committee on Scholarships and Academic Honors with concurrence of the Dean, College of Medicine, and approval of the President of the Medical Center.

To be entitled to the same discount in the second semester of the first year, the awardees must have a weighted average of the semester work of 1.45 or better, and no grade below 2.5.

- Partial scholarship – this entitles the awardee to a 50% discount on tuition and laboratory fees for one year and is granted to incoming Freshmen who graduated Cum Laude from his pre-med course and is recommended by the Committee on Admissions and the Committee on Scholarships and Academic Honors with the concurrence of the Dean, College of Medicine, and approval of the President of the Medical Center.

2. Honorific Scholars

• Scholarships for Academic Excellence Full scholarship – any student with a weighted average of 1.75 or better at the end of the academic just completed is entitled to free tuition and laboratory fees for one year in the succeeding school year upon the recommendation of the Committee on Scholarships and Academic Honors with the concurrence of the Dean, College of Medicine, and approval of the President and Chief Academic Officer of the Medical Center.

• Partial scholarship – any student with a weighted average of 2.00 or better at the end of the academic just completed is entitled to 50% discount on tuition and laboratory fees for one year in the succeeding school year upon the recommendation of the Committee on Scholarships and Academic Honors with the concurrence of the Dean, College of Medicine, and approval of the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Medical Center. For both scholarships, the student should have no grade below 2.5.

3. Grants–in–Aid

Tuition fee discount is given by UERMMMC, Inc. To financially deserving students in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th or 5th year level. This scholarship entitles the student of 15% to 80% discount on tuition and laboratory fees. Eligible students are interviewed and recommended by the Committee on Scholarships and Academic Honors with the concurrence of the Dean and approval of the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Medical Center. Application forms are available at the Dean’s Office.

4. College-Based Scholarship

• Partial Scholarship Grant – (UERMMMC Alumni Foundation in the USA, Inc) This consists of partial subsidy for tuition and other school fees to students in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th year with the following qualifications:

- good moral character
- average grades
- financially needy

• Book Scholarship Grant – (UERMMMC Alumni Foundation in the USA, Inc) This is awarded to 2nd, 3rd and 4th year students for book expenses who have satisfied the following criteria:

- good moral character
- average grades
- financially needy

Students who received the above scholarship grants may apply for the same grants for the following school year provided they pass all subjects. The Committee on Scholarships and Academic Honors shall choose the grantees from the applicants for Grants-in-Aid and recommend these to the Dean for approval.

• Special Honors Award – (UERMMMC Alumni Foundation in the USA, Inc) This is given to freshmen students who have excellent academic performance in the baccalaureate degrees but do not qualify for the Pres. Francisco Dalupan Entrance Scholarships. This award entitles a qualified freshman student to partial tuition fee for one semester. Upon the recommendation of the Committee on Scholarships and Academic Honors with the approval of the President and Chief Academic Officer, the awardees will be chosen from the list of applicants based on the following criteria from selection:

- GWA of 1.8 or better
- NMAT percentile mark of 90 or higher
- Interview with the Committee on Scholarships and Academic Honors

• Gold and Silver Scholarships This grant is awarded as early as the 2nd semester in the first year to students who have attained excellent academic standing. They are selected by the members of the Committee on Scholarships and Academic Honors. The Gold Scholarship awardees receive $2,000.00 a year while Silver Scholarship awardees receive $1,000.00. 1. UERMMMC Nursing Alumni Scholars

Students who have demonstrated exceptional academic performance can qualify for the UERMMC Nursing Alumni Scholarship

To qualify, the student should:

• Be a bonafide regular student enrolled in the College of Nursing
• Be a Filipino citizen
• Have a satisfactory academic standing
• Have a weighted average of 2.5 or better
• Not have a failing grade in any required course in the BSN curriculum
• Have a good physical and mental health
• Not have a record of any misdemeanor or disciplinary action
• Not be a recipient of any scholarship or financial assistance
• Have an income below P 6,000.00/month

COLLEGE OF ALLIED REHABILITATION SCIENCES

1. University Entrance Scholarship

This entitles the awardees to free / discounted tuition fee, laboratory and miscellaneous fees for one year and is granted to an incoming freshman who graduated as High School Valedictorian (100%) or Salutatorian (50%) and with AMCAT score of 90th percentile or better and is recommended by the Committee on Admissions and the Committee on Scholarships and Awards with the concurrence of the Dean of College of Allied Rehabilitation Sciences and the Vice President for Academic Affairs and approved by the President of the Medical Center.

2. Freshmen Merit Scholarship

This entitles the awardees to free tuition fee and laboratory fee for one year and is granted to an incoming freshman who belongs to the Top 20 qualifiers based on the average grade in the fourth year high school and with an AMCAT score of at least 98th percentile and recommended by the Committee on Admissions and the Committee on Scholarships and Awards with the concurrence of the Dean, College of Allied Rehabilitation Sciences and the Vice-President for Academic Affairs, and approved by the President of the Medical Center.

3. Scholarship for Academic Excellence

This scholarship is awarded to students in the second to fifth year levels

• Full scholarship

This entitles any student on regular academic load and with a general weighted average of 1.45 or better (for second & third year) and 1.75 or better (for fourth & fifth year) at the end of the previously completed academic year to free tuition fee and laboratory fees for one year, upon recommendation of the Committee on Scholarships and Awards with the concurrence of the Dean, College of Allied Rehabilitation Sciences and the Vice–President for Academic Affairs, and approved by the President of the Medical Center.

• Partial Scholarship

This entitles any student on a regular academic load and with a general weighted average of 1.46 – 1.75 (for second & third year) and 1.76 – 2.0 (for fourth & fifth year) at the end of previously completed academic year to a 50% discount on tuition and laboratory fees for one year, upon recommendation of the Committee on Scholarships and Awards with the concurrence of the Dean, College of Allied Rehabilitation Sciences and the Vice President for Academic Affairs, and approved by the President of the Medical Center.

Note: For both scholarships, the student should have no grade below 2.5. Students who qualify are required to apply for the scholarship to avail of the benefit.

4. Grants–in–Aid

This awarded to financially deserving students in the second, third, fourth and fifth years. This scholarships entitles the student to 15–80% discount on tuition and laboratory fees for one year. Students may apply for the same grants in the succeeding school year provided they have obtained passing grades in ALL subjects.

Eligibility Requirements:

• Accomplished application form
• Must be a Filipino citizen and a permanent resident of the Philippines
• Must be in need of financial assistance
• Must be currently enrolled in the UERMMMCI – CAReS (B.S. Physical Therapy) with an average of 3.0 or better and must have no failing grade
• Must be of good moral character, with no record of any misdemeanor
• Must not be a recipient of a study grant or financial assistance, or be holder of any scholarship grant.
• Income Tax Return of Parents for the previous year
• Interview of applicant with the Committee on Scholarships and Awards
• Applicants with INCOMPLETE requirements will NOT be considered

GRADUATE SCHOOL
