SCHOLARSHIPS AT UNIVERSITY OF SAN AGUSTIN:

A. University Scholarships

1. Entrance Scholarship

All High School Valedictorians and Salutatorians of public and private schools are exempted from full and half payment respectively of regular tuition fees during their first year in the University, provided they graduated from a class of not less than 40 students.

Applicants for Entrance Scholarship must be certified by the Head of the institution from where they graduated. Applications should be addressed to the Office of the Registrar.

2. Honor Students Scholarship

Every semester, the first three (3) students in the Roll of Honor in every course, in all departments, will be given scholarships on tuition fees as follows:

3. St. Augustine Scholarship

100%, 75%, 50% and 25% scholarship covering tuition and miscellaneous fees are granted to the first, second, third and fourth placers respectively in an annual contest on the life and or doctrine of St. Augustine open to all students of the University. The 5th to the 10th placers shall enjoy a 10% scholarship.

4. Presidential Decree (P.D. 451) Scholarship

This scholarship is given by the University to needy and deserving students. The scholarship covers free tuition and other fees and is open to freshmen applicants for grant-in-aid. To qualify, the applicant must pass a competitive examination. To maintain the scholarship, the grantee must obtain a scholastic average of no less than 85%, must have no grade lower than 80% and must carry a study load of no less than fifteen (15) units within the prescribed semestral curriculum.

B. Special Scholarships

1. The University of San Agustin Alumni Association Iloilo Chapter Scholarship

This Scholarship started in the school year 1982-1983.

The scholarship grant covers tuition fees for two incoming freshmen students. It is open to all needy and deserving students intending to enroll in the University of San Agustin for a 4 to 5 year course. Te grantee must carry no less than 15 units of the study load prescribed in the curriculum for the particular year and semester of his course. To maintain the scholarship, the grantee must obtain a scholastic average of at least 80% during the semester, with no failing, incomplete or dropped grade in any academic subject.

2. The University of San Agustin Alumni Association Midwest Chapter Scholarship

This scholarship started in the school year 1987-1988.

The scholarship grant covers tuition fees, other school fees and book allowance for two (2) students. Applicants must have a general average of 88% with no grade below 80%. They must be needy and deserving. To maintain the scholarship, the grantee must obtain a general average of 85% with no grade below 80%.

3. The University of San Agustin Alumni Association Northern California Chapter Scholarship

This scholarship started in the school year 1988-1989.

The scholarship grant covers tuition fees, other school fees and book allowance for two (2) students. Applicants must have a general average of 88% with no grade below 80%. They must be needy and deserving. To maintain the scholarship, the grantee must obtain a general average of 85% with no grade below 80%.

4. The University of San Agustin Alumni Association Northeast Chapter Scholarship

This scholarship started in the school year 1988-1989.

The scholarship grant covers tuition fees, other school fees and book allowance for (5) students. Applicants must have a general average of 88% with no grade below 80%. They must be needy and deserving. To maintain the scholarship, the grantee must obtain a general average of 85% with no grade below 80%.

5. Eugenio and Rosario Gison Scholarship

This scholarship started in the school year 1986-1987.

The scholarship cover tuition fees, other fees and book allowance. To qualify, the applicant must have a high school average of 88% and no grade below 80% in his/her high school grades. The applicant should preferably be a parishioner of Villa (Arevalo), Iloilo City. He/She must be needy and deserving.

To maintain the scholarship, the recipient must have an average of 85% and no grade below 80% in all his/her subjects.

6. The University of San Agustin Catholic Parents Association (USACPA) Scholarship (For Freshmen in any 4 or 5 year course)

This scholarship started in the school year 1979-1980.

The scholarship covers tuition and miscellaneous fees. It is open to needy and deserving freshmen intending to enroll in any four or five year course offered by the University. Applicants must have an average of at least 88% in fourth year High School. To maintain the scholarship, the grantee must carry a study load of no less than fifteen units within the prescribed semestral curriculum and must maintain a scholastics average of no less than 85% with no grade lower that 80%.

7. The Iloilo Pharmaceutical Association (IPA) Scholarship

This scholarship was established through the generosity of the officers and members of the Iloilo Pharmaceutical Association during the Ruby Jubilee year of the College of Pharmacy in 1987.

This scholarship covers tuition fees only for the regular semester. The applicant must be a son/daughter of a pharmacist. To qualify, the applicant must have an average of no less than 88% in his/her Fourth Year High School. To maintain the scholarship, the grantee must obtain a scholastic average of at least 85% and no grade below 80%.

8. The Far East Bank and Trust Company Scholarship

(For Freshmen, Sophomore, Junior and Senior students enrolled in Accounting, Banking and Finance, Management, Marketing, Business Administration and Economics)

This scholarship started in the school year 1987-1988. The grant is open to talented, deserving and financially needy students. The scholarship covers tuition fees, other school fees, and book allowance. Applicant must have an average of 88% and no grade below 80%. To maintain the scholarship, the recipient must have an average of 85% and no failing mark in any subject. The recipient shall complete the course within the period prescribed by the university and for a maximum of four (4) school years. For recipients who are qualified for employment, he/she is asked to render one (1) year service to Far East Bank and Trust Company after graduation. It shall be the bank's sole prerogative to choose which unit he/she will be assigned to including basic salary and allowance.

9. The Tiu Cho Teg Memorial Foundation Scholarship Grant

This scholarship started in the school year 1982-1983.

The grant is open to all poor and deserving High School graduates intending to enroll in the University of San Agustin. It covers school fees and book allowance. Applicants must have an average of 88% in the High School report card and must not be more than twenty years old at the time of application. To maintain the scholarship, the grantee must obtain an average of 85% in all subjects with no grade lower than 80% and must carry a study load of no less than 18 units of the curriculum prescribed for the semester.

10. Metrobank college scholarship

The scholarship is open to all needy and deserving students intending to enroll in the University of San Agustin for a college degree in Education, Engineering, Accountancy or Commerce. The Scholarship covers full tuition and other school fees plus personal allowance applicants for this scholarship must belong to the top ten percentile of the college entrance/scholarship examinees, and must have a high school average of 88% or better. To maintain the scholarship, the grantee must maintain a scholastic average of no less than 85% with no grade lower than 80%.

11. Go Kim Pah Scholarship

The Grant is open for meritorious but financially handicapped college freshmen taking up Business Administration Accountancy, Economics, Industrial Engineering, and other related business courses. It covers full tuition and other school fees. To qualify for the scholarship, the applicant must have a general average of 88% and no grade below 80%. To maintain the scholarship, the recipient must have an average of 85% and no failing mark in any subject. The grantee must finish the course within the prescribed number of semesters. The grantee may conduct his office training at Equitable Bank and should be willing to start his career with the Bank right after graduation, at the Bank's option.

12. Natividad de Asis Divinagracia Scholarship

The scholarship covers full tuition and other miscellaneous fees. To qualify, the applicant must have a high school average of 88% and no grade below 80% and must be needy and deserving. To maintain the scholarship, the grantee must carry a study load of no less than eighteen units (18) within the prescribed semestral curriculum and must maintain a scholastic average of no less than 85% with no grade lower than 80%.

13. Dr. Priscilla Larroza Scholarship

The scholarship grant covers tuition and other miscellaneous fees per semester of the regular school year. This scholarship is open to all poor and deserving students. To qualify, the applicant must have a general average of 88% and no grade lower than 80%. To maintain the scholarship, the grantee must obtain a scholastic average of at least 85% with no grade lower than 80%.

C. Privileges

1. Full-time members of the faculty and administrative personnel, as well as their spouses and children are given 50% discount on tuition fees.

2. Part-time members of the faculty and administrative personnel, as well as their spouses and children are given 25% discount on tuition fees.

3. Laborers of the University as well as their spouses and children are given free tuition and miscellaneous fees.

4. Members of the same family (father, mother, and children), except student of the Graduate School and the School of Law, upon application within one month after enrolment, are given the following discount on tuition fees:

Only University personnel and their spouses and children enjoy privileges 1 to 4 during summer.

5. Priest and Religious are given 50% discount on tuition fees.

6. Choir, Little Theatre, Band and Kawilihan members and University athletes, depending upon their performance and proficiency, may enjoy 25%, 50%, 75%, or 100% discounts from all fees as recommended by their directors and approved by the Vice President for Student Affairs.

7. Grant-in-aid:

The University welcomes the opportunity of helping needy and deserving students by giving them free tuition for which they render partial services to the University.

These grants are given on a semestral basis to qualified freshmen. They may be extended, upon application, provided the grantees maintain 80% average with no failing grade.

8. The University of San Agustin Alumni Association Guam Chapter Scholarship

This scholarship started in the school year 1997-1998 as approved by the President Fred Tagamolila and the board members.

The scholarship grant covers tuition and miscellaneous fees for two (2) students. Applicants must have a general average of 85% with no grade below 80%. They must be needy and deserving. To maintain the scholarship, the grantee must obtain a general average of 85% with no grade below 80%.

9. The GSIS Scholarship Program Starting SY 1998-1999 University of San Agustin

A total of 25 scholarship grants will be offered annually to qualified High School graduates for tertiary education. These will be made available at GSIS-accredited schools and for selected courses.

The preferred courses are Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, Management, Mathematics and Statistics.

Children of GSIS Members and Retirees who are high school graduates and are among the top 10 successful entrance examinees of GSIS-accredited school may apply at the University of San Agustin, Iloilo.

10. Eva Mondejar scholarship

This scholarship started in the SY 1998-1999 through the generosity of Ms. Eva Mondejar of New Lucena. The scholarship grant covers tuition fees only. Applicants must have general average of 85% with no grade below 80%. They must be needy and deserving students who are permanents residents of New Lucena.

11. Philippine Association of Metropolitan Washington Engineers Scholarship (PAMWE)

This scholarship is offered by the Philippine Association of Metropolitan Washington Engineers (PAMWE) to deserving entering freshmen who are intending to enroll in Mechanical Engineering. The scholarship covers tuition fees and miscellaneous fees. Applicants must have a general average of 88% with no grade below 80% and pass the scholarship examination. To maintain the scholarship, the grantee must obtain a general average of 85% with no grade below 80%.

12. Kahirup Association of Nevada

This scholarship grant covers tuition fees and miscellaneous fees as approved by 1998 President Haydee M. Florentino, immediate Pas President Dean Mercado and the Board of Officers. Applicants must have a general average of 88% with no grade below 80% and pass the scholarship examination. To maintain the scholarship, the grantee must obtain a general average of 85% with no grade below 80%.

13. Erlinda Goco Aguiree Scholarship

The scholarship will start in SY 1999-2000. The qualified applicant should enroll in any of the following courses: Medical Technology, Nursing, Psychology. The scholar will receive P10,000.00 Philippine pesos every semester for four consecutive years for tuition fees, miscellaneous fees, and books. The grantee must maintain a general semestral average of 85% with no grade below 80%.
