SCHOLARSHIPS AT TRINITY UNIVERSITY OF ASIA:

Trinity University of Asia seeks to provide deserving and promising youth with scholarship aid. Towards this goal, a part of the University’s budget is allotted to scholarships for high school valedictorians and salutatorians and for students already enrolled at TUA who have achieved and shown promise of high academic performance. Other funds for scholarships are received from different agencies or private individuals.

A. Scholarship Grants. Students who would like to avail of a scholarship grant shall apply for it. Those in the Dean’s List shall automatically qualify for scholarship.

1. Application forms are available at the Committee on Scholarships and Financial Assistance (CSFA), c/o the Guidance Center.

2. It is understood that the institution expects her scholars to live up to the hope and confidence entrusted to them. Unbecoming behavior, irregular attendance in classes, and poor academic performance shall be sufficient causes for loss of scholarship, financial assistance, and all privileges attached thereto.

3. The CSFA shall evaluate the performance of every beneficiary at the end of each semester, based on scholastic records. Whenever necessary, it may recommend the discontinuance of the study grant at any time if the scholar fails to comply with the requirements of the study grant. A notice shall be given to the student within a reasonable period prior to the withdrawal of the study grant.

4. A student who has been the subject of disciplinary action of any kind shall be automatically disqualified to receive scholarship or financial assistance, regardless of high academic achievement.

B. Entrance Scholarships. Any student graduating as valedictorian or salutatorian of a class of at least fifty (50) students from an accredited high school shall be entitled to a discount of 100% and 50%, respectively, on tuition fees.

1. During enrollment, the qualified student shall fill up a special form to be immediately acted upon by the Registrar, based on adequate evidence. Attached to this form shall be a letter from the student’s former adviser attesting to good moral character of and ability to undertake college work by the student.

2. Special scholarships shall also be given to high school graduates who shall qualify at an examination given during summer vacation. Inquiries can be made from the CSFA c/o the Guidance Center.

C. University Scholarships. All honor students in the Dean’s List shall automatically qualify for scholarship.

An honor student is one who has carried an academic load of at least seventeen (17) or eighteen (18) units of the regular semestral load prescribed by his own curriculum during the preceding semester, who has obtained a grade point average of 1.75 or higher, and has no grade below 2.00 in all his subjects.

2. Scholarships for honor students (Dean’s List) are based on the following averages:

3. 1.00 to 1.25 - Half Scholarship (50% discount on tuition fees/ RLE fees)

4. 1.26 to 1.50 - Partial Scholarship (30% discount on tuition fees/RLE fees)

5. 1.51 to 1.75 - Semi-Partial Scholarship (20% discount on tuition fees/RLE fees)

6. No student may enjoy two (2) grants from the university scholarship fund at any time. A university scholar already enjoying substantial grants or compensations from other sources (NSLCC, Veterans, etc.) may not qualify for a university scholarship.

D. Academic Entrance Scholarship

1. This is granted to university freshmen-applicants for the first semester who meet the following requirements/ conditions:

2. A graduate of any high school recognized by the government.

3. High school GPA is 85% or higher.

4. Have no college credits.

5. Have no record of any disciplinary problem.

6. Should not have been subjected to any disciplinary action by the Office of Student affairs at the time of availment of the program.

7. Result in all areas of the scholarship examination is HA or better with no rating lower than High Average in any area tested.

8. Number of entrance scholarship grantees will depend on the availability of budget for the given school year.

9. The scholarship is good for one (1) semester only.

10. Applicants must present certificate of good moral character, barangay residence certificate, High School report card, and 1x1 ID picture.

11. In higher years, same scholar may apply for the A.L. Carson Scholarship or the University Scholarship (Dean’s List), provided the requirements of said scholarships are met.

E. Arthur L. Carson Scholarship. A study grant for academically qualified students unable to continue their studies because of financial difficulties.

1. Only students who have been at TUA for at least one (1) schoolyear or two (2) consecutive semesters may apply for this study grant.

2. A weighted average of 2.0 or higher.

3. Have no grades lower than 2.25 in any subject.

4. No dropped subjects.

5. Should not have been subjected to any disciplinary action by the Office of Student affairs at the time of availment of the program.

6. Requirements:

- Application form

- Certification of Good Moral Character from two teachers.

- Should render 35 hours of service within the semester (to be assigned by the HonSoc adviser).

F. Board of Trustees Scholarship

1. A weighted average of 1.75 or higher.

2. Have no grades lower than 2.0 in any subject.

3. No dropped subjects.

4. Should not have been subjected to any disciplinary action by the Office of Student affairs at the time of availment of the program.

5. Requirements:

- Application form

- Certification of Good Moral Character from two teachers.

- Should render 35 hours of service within the semester (to be assigned by the HonSoc adviser).

G. St. Luke’s –Trinity College Nursing Alumni Association Inc. Scholarships

1. Lilian J. Weiser Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship is given by the in memory of Ms Lilian J. Weiser who was Superintendent of Nurses at St. Luke’s Hospital for many years. The recipient is chosen by the Committee on Scholarship of the Alumni Association, upon recommendation of the Nursing faculty, on the basis of excellence in clinical performance. The scholarship is given to a student in the senior year.

2. Cornelia Maceda Memorial Scholarship. In memory of Cornelia Maceda who was a supervisor of St Lukes Hospital that served the hospital for many years and was emulated by all student nurses. The recipient is chosen on the basis of gaining the 2nd highest rating in clinical performance.

3. The Dean Emeritus Ester A. Santos Scholarship This scholarship is given in Honor of Dean Emeritus Ester A. Santos, first Dean of the St. Luke’s College of Nursing. This scholarship is open to incoming 3rd year or 4th year nursing in need of financial assistance.

The following are the requirements to be submitted to the Guidance Center addressed to Dean Emeritus Ester A. Santos Scholarship Committee:

- Application letter addressed to the Committee.

- One (1) 2x2 pictures.

- Information Sheet duly filled up (Form obtained from Guidance Center)

- Xerox copy of Income Tax Return of parents or person/persons supporting the student (if both parents are working, ITR of both parents should be submitted.)

- Three (3) Recommendation Letters From the College of Nursing (not a form letter but a brief description of the applicant as a person, as a student, etc.)

- Two from Faculty Members

- One of the dean

- Transcript of records from the registrar from 1st year to semester preceding the application. Grades for 2nd semester can be submitted later.


4. The Vitaliana G. Beltran Scholarship is given in memory of Mrs. Vitaliana G. Beltran, 1st Filipina Director of Nurses at the St. Luke’s Hospital and was concurrently the first Principal of the St. Luke’s School of Nursing. This scholarship is open to incoming 3rd year to 4th year nursing students in need of financial assistance.

To avail apply for the scholarship, submit the following requirements:

- Two from Faculty Members

- One from the Dean

- Transcript of Records from the Registrar from 1st Year to Semester preceding the application. Grades for 2nd Semester can be submitted later.

H. Charitable Service Scholarship Program. This scholarship is awarded to needy students who, in return for financial assistance, perform volunteer service.

1. Active member of PIC and ECP only.

2. No failing grades and dropped subjects.

3. Should not have been subjected to any disciplinary action by the Office of Student affairs at the time of availment of the program.

4. Requirements:

- Application form

- Copy of grades

- Certification of Good Moral Character from Unit head and one faculty.

- Certification from Parish Priest.

- Should render 35 hours of service within the semester (to be assigned by the HonSoc adviser).

I. Athletic Scholarship – granted to members of the university varsity team.

J – Cultural and Performing Arts Scholarship – granted to members of the Symphonic Band, Dance Troupe and the Chorale Group

K. More Scholarships and Study Grants

1. Central Student Council Scholarship – awarded to the President of the Central Student Council as mandated by their Student Constitution.

2. Trinity Observer Scholarship – awarded to the members of the Editorial Board as mandated by their constitution.

3. A student enjoying educational benefits under Section 22 of Republic Act 65, as amended by Republic Act 557, shall present a Certificate of Eligibility of Renewal duly approved by the Philippine Veterans Administration or PVA (if the student is the child of a veteran) before he can be officially enrolled.

4. Beneficiaries of the United States Veterans Administration (USVA) are also admitted.

5. Children of parents from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) who are recipients of the Medal of Valor may avail of full tuition fee scholarship only.

6. National Scholarships. The University also accepts scholars/grantees of the State Scholarship Program (SSP), National Integration Study Grant Program (NISP), and Group Educational Assistance Program (GEAP)

7. Special Scholarships and Study Grants. Special scholarships may be granted at times by private agencies or private donors to students belonging to a specific college of the University. Once the grants and conditions attached to such specific scholarships have been approved by university authorities, the dean and the faculty of the college concerned shall select the recipient of such scholarships. If the fund has been deposited in the university scholarship fund, the dean and the faculty of the college concerned shall send their recommendations to the President through CSFA. If no special condition is attached to the grant of these special scholarships, the general rules governing scholarships and financial assistance shall be followed by the CSFA.
