SCHOLARSHIPS AT SAINT COLUMBAN COLLEGE:

1. Academic Scholarships – students aspiring for academics scholarship are advised to submit an application letter through the Dean of the College where they belong addressed to the Vice President for Academic Affairs. The dean accepts the application and endorses it to the Registrar for grade verification. The Committee on Scholarship evaluates and ranks applicants’ GPA from highest to lowest. The one percent of the total population of undergraduate enrollees in the current semester determines the number of academic scholars. The committee recommends the qualified academic scholars to the School President for approval.

• Full Academic Scholarship. A 100% free from tuition fee discount shall be granted to students who met the following requirements:

- Grade point average of 1.25 and above;
- NO GRADE below 2.0 in all subjects;
- NO dropped subject/s;
- Has a load at least 21 units;
- Has NO derogatory records or has not been a subject to any disciplinary action; and
- Morally upright.

• Partial Academic Scholarship. A 50% tuition fee discount shall be granted to students who met the following requirements:

- Grade point average of 1.26 to 1.75;
- NO GRADE below 2.0 in all subjects;
- NO dropped subject/s;
- Has a load of at least 21 units;
- Has NO derogatory records, or has not been a subject to any disciplinary action; and
- Morally upright

Note: The computation of the Grade Point Average does not incuude non-credit courses which are institutional requirements namely: Eng A (English Plus), and non-academic subjects: NSTP, Orient and Religious Education for which there should be no grade below 2.0

2. Sports Scholarship - Athletic Scholarships are granted to students who are members of the school's varsity team or to students who have represented the school in PRISAA and other prestigious sports tournaments and who have not been subjected to any disciplinary action.

Type 1: Partial Athletic Scholarships

• A ten percent (10%) Tuition Fee Discount can be availed to student who

- have been a PRISAA Regional Player the previous academic year; and
- have NOT been a subject of any disciplinary action.

For graduating students, the discount will be in the form of a refund.

• A twenty percent (20%) Tuition Fee Discount shall be granted to students who

- have been a PRISAA National Player the previous academic year; and
- have NOT been a subject of any disciplinary action.

For graduating students, the discount will be in the form of a refund.

Type 2: Full Athletic Scholarships shall be granted to students who are members of the Category A Varsity Team (Men’s Basketball, Men’s Athletic and Women’s Athletic). This scholarship is only for a term of one year and can be renewed the following year based on the performance of the varsity player and the availability of funds.

6. Grants - in - aid

Tuition and/or general fees grants are given on a yearly basis to students who meet the following criteria.

• Demonstrable financial need

• Admission score of at least 2.5 GPA

• Very good evaluation and/or substantial contribution to the Saint Columban College community

• Exemplary behavior

• Completion of the specified service hours in the assigned office in the college, if applicable

• Passed the examination given by the Guidance Office.

Note: Grantees of financial aid are expected to render certain hours of service each semester to the college. The service is structured so as to extend assistance to the college staff particularly during the critical periods of registration, examinations, graduation, and others. It is directly under the supervision of the office of the Dean of Student Affairs.

Note: A student shall enjoy only one type of discount or scholarship except when he/she availed a cash discount.
