list bulletWhy did I choose this school: I chose PLM to be the university where I will study because I graduated high school at this university.

list bulletAbout PLM: The university is well maintained. The ambiance is very conducive for learning.
It has an air-conditioned library with complete reading and research materials on various subjects, science laboratories for chem and bio experiments, student sheds which serves as their review places, a chapel, and many more. The professors were mostly home grown.

list bulletWhy did I choose this school: To put it simply, my mom pushed me into applying in the Pamantasan Ng Lungsod Ng Maynila.

list bulletAbout PLM: People in the Pamantasan are a diverse bunch, as you get to meet people from all walks of life... You're gonna have the Rich Kid (na palaging may hawak na SB), the Grade Conscious, the "Pakboi, & Pakgerl", the Billiard king/queen, as well as those living in poverty... One thing to note when it comes to people in the Pamantasan is that they tend to be a kind bunch, thought I don't know if it's because of their upbringing, or if it's because PLM tends to crush that Assholiness of the individual have upon entry :D

One should not expect much from the Pamantasan, as there goes a saying "mas matanda pa ang facilities sa lolo mo", pero of course, they still work :), and if the Pamantasan has taught me one thing, it's gonna be resourcefulness, as they're gonna give you loads of work with nothing to work with, yet somehow still cough up something to pass xD

The professors.... Well, they're a mixed bag, some are angels from the heavens, while some will make you swear that he/she was the reincarnation of the devil.... However, regardless of the professor, it's still PLM, so expect loads of requirements :)

list bulletMy current job: Currently I am that person who Guides & Counsels

list bulletHow long did it take to find a job: Well, I was offered a job 1 week prior to my graduation

◈ Studied BS in Biology
◈ At PLM
◈ Graduated 2015

list bulletWhy did I choose this school: I chose this school because you can obtain here high quality of education without having to pay expensive tuition fees.

list bulletAbout PLM: The Ambiance: It has a very competitive ambiance. Students here are very studious and smart.
The place is safe since there are many security personnel in charge in different areas of this university.
In terms of it's location, it's good because it's located in the center of the city. You can have access to different public libraries, museums, parks, etc.

The professors: They are excellent in their field of expertise. All are also very good in teaching.

The facilities: Facilities in this university are lacking. Some rooms are not air-conditioned, but there are enough place to rest, study and socialize.

list bulletMy current job: Food Safety and Quality Assurance Analyst.
I'm working in an in-flight catering company (airline foods).
My job role is to ensure safety of foods delivered to our airline customers. I'm doing daily inspection in the airport kitchen, as well as microbiological analysis of food samples.

◈ Studied BS in Psychology
◈ At PLM
◈ Graduated 2008

list bulletWhy did I choose this school: I chose the school because I believe it gives high quality education. At that time I also cannot afford to study with a school with high tuition fee because of financial constraints.

list bulletAbout PLM: The school is public but they gave us quality education. The training that I had in the university was good. The professors were very competent, they taught us well and it shows that they really give importance on their chosen profession. We also had school organizations, I was part of student Catholic Action when I was in college which was very helpful.

list bulletMy current job: I am working now as a Researcher which focuses on recruitment. My job is to find potential candidates for different positions in a company.

list bulletHow long did it take to find a job: In my case, I can say it took me just a little time. After graduation, I did not look for a job seriously right away, but when I started to focus on finding a job I was able to find one in a short period of time.

◈ At PLM
◈ Graduated 2008

list bulletAbout PLM: the professors are giving their best to teach us. I can see all their passion to make a future Registered Social Worker. one of my professor inspired me a lot.
Though the school was running by the municaplity (yeah its a state university) the university focuses on the academics rather than sports. in that way they give us the best teachers. and I graduated for 50 pesos per semester. :)

list bulletMy current job: CityLink DSWD (Department of Social Welfare and Development) NCR

list bulletHow long did it take to find a job: 8 months, because I have to take first the board exam which is usually every july once a year.

list bulletAbout PLM: The professors are very good, I should say especially those from the Engineering Department. They all know what they're talking about and it is because of them that I learned everything I needed to learn about computers. What the university lack in good facilities, the knowledgeable professors made up for those.

list bulletMy current job: I am a Medical Coder by profession.

◈ Studied BS in Nursing
◈ At PLM
◈ Graduated 2006

list bulletWhy did I choose this school: PLM is known to be producing competent nurses after they graduate. It's affiliation to different hospitals like Philippine General Hospital makes their student nurses ready for the actual experience. It's curriculum is similar with the University of the Philippines and I think that is an advantage when it comes to the academic aspect of the nursing course.

list bulletAbout PLM: The classrooms in the College of Nursing in PLM are fully air-conditioned. Cleanliness is always observed. The professors had masters degree, strict and updated on nursing lectures.

list bulletMy current job: I'm a staff nurse in a female surgical ward in Philippine General Hospital. We care for the patients who will undergo certain surgeries.

list bulletHow long did it take to find a job: I waited for a year before I was able to work in PGH.

list bulletAbout PLM: The atmosphere: is very conducive for learning.
The professors: are very approachable and always do their best for the students.
The facilities: though some of the facilities in this university are lacking. I can say that the lack of some facilities are not a barrier to students learning.

◈ Studied BSBA in Business Management
◈ At PLM
◈ Graduated 2000

list bulletAbout PLM: The Professors:
Magagaling, pero syempre may mga professors din na NEVERMIND

The Atmosphere:
There's a place in PLM na for me is Great for us na stress ang madalas ma-feel inside the classroom. Sa Manggahan nakaka-relax dun nagagawa namin magshare ng mga reklamo, assignments, tips sa exams, etc.

The Facilities:
Hahah isa lang nirereklamo (if that will be the best term) ko sa PLM pag facilities na, ito yung napakahirap umakyat sa isang building. 5th floor but then stairs ang gamit, sana kahit man lang simpleng elevator or escalator meron haha, nakakahingal umakyat eh, lalo pag male-late na.

list bulletMy current job: As for now, may computer shop na kami, and ako ang nagma-manage :D

list bulletHow long did it take to find a job: 1 month after graduation I found a job na, pero August 2000 nung nakakuha ako ng job na nagstay talaga for 4 years.

◈ Studied BS in Mass Communication
◈ At PLM
◈ Graduated 2009

list bulletWhy did I choose this school: This is the only college that I really wanted to enroll at.
There were three reasons:
1. PLM has a good reputation, despite being a public school.
2. It offers little to no tuition fee, which helps guarantee my college diploma
3. The school is a few blocks away from home. No need to wake up too early to attend morning classes. Never got late- ever.

list bulletAbout PLM: As expected from a city government funded school, PLM had nothing much to offer when it comes to facilities. Air conditioned room were very limited, although I tried having classes in a few of these rooms. Older buildings don't have electric fans. We don't have a school wi-fi (at least during my time). Neither do we have good computers to use freely.

But what my Alma Mater lacks in facilities, it makes up for in great instructors. Our teachers were professionals. They have been working in their respective fields, so other than the theories, they also provide us with practical lessons.

Outside my school looks small, but inside it has a huge field, covered in green grass during the beginning of the school year. Our school signifies it's students. We look small, and ordinary, but inside we have the brains and attitude of a true scholar.

list bulletMy current job: SEO Specialist. That's Search Engine Optimization Specialist. Whenever I tell someone about my occupation, they always follow up with, "what's that?"

I don't know about SEO either. I only learned about it when my friend invited me to work with them. I just resigned from my previous job, then so why not give it a shot? SEO is basically marketing, only it is online. You work with search engines like Google and Yahoo, and improve your website's online presence by writing blogs, guest posts, press releases, profiles and more. You also analyze trends and use it to improve your website's search engine rankings. The higher your ranking is, the better web traffic you get.

You'll basically understand it better when you run your own blogs, or website. The gist of it is you'll basically write a lot of content, and share it online.

list bulletHow long did it take to find a job: It was frustrating to land a job. I was optimistic about landing jobs in a media outlet. ABS-CBN was like my goal at that time, but I was not successful.

It took me 5 months before I landed a job. But it was not the job that I really thought I'll ever take. I was an Account Manager, I work in the field promoting our company's services. It was difficult because I was never a people person. I prefered working behind the curtain rather than performing in front of many people. To cut the story short, I resigned after 10 months.

My second job was like icing on top of the cake. I get to write. I also get to work with my classmates, and I earn a good enough pay. All thanks to my classmates who invited me to work in the same company. Now, I am working as an SEO Specialist for 4 years.

◈ Studied BSEd in English
◈ At PLM
◈ Graduated 2014

list bulletWhy did I choose this school: We're not really rich and we're used to studying in public schools since kindergarten. I was supposed to go for PUP Sta. Mesa but then when my mom found out that I also passed in PLM (they actually thought that BSE Eng is "Engineering"), we pushed through with it. And PLM is one of the top school in the Philippines, so it's a privilege. Lastly, I don't have to pay for anything for this quality education that they offered.

list bulletAbout PLM: Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila has this atmosphere that students there are really smart and you have to be one of them since they're giving a free quality education and were not supposed to waste it. The place is good and they divided the buildings for a particular course.

You're lucky if you get the professors who gives high grades and kind at the same time. There are some who's known for being terrors (like the PLM -- Perez, Lucas and Macasieb -- professors of College Algebra and Trigonometry). And there are some who looks kind but will back stab you at the end of the semester for the "umuulan ng singko" shenanigans they prepared.

The facilities are okay. They provide sufficient rooms for engineering students, laboratories for med, bio or psych students, radio labs for mass comm people. We also have a field, for sports and the ROTC and a covered court which is usually used for different events.

list bulletMy current job: English tutor for Koreans.

list bulletHow long did it take to find a job: I've been in this company even before I graduated.

◈ Studied BS in Nursing
◈ At PLM
◈ Graduated 2013

list bulletWhy did I choose this school: Because of the quality education they offer at a lowest tuition fees to pay.

list bulletAbout PLM: There are lots of places where in you can study like the library, sheds and computer room with free internet connection for your homework.

The professors are maximizing their resources to teach the students very well knowing that it is a public university. The utilities are approachable especially if you encounter some problems that you may need their help. There are student officers that may help you if you need help regarding academics. And there are lots of activities during foundation days and college days :)

list bulletMy current job: My job is a private duty nurse. I am assigned to one patient at a time. It may be hospital or home based.

list bulletHow long did it take to find a job: I just got my licensed last january 2014 and I got my first job this june 2014 because I need to attend different seminar and trainings.

◈ Studied BS in Psychology
◈ At PLM
◈ Graduated 2002

list bulletWhy did I choose this school: I remember when the Dean of Psychology department asked me why I chose their school I told her, "Because PLM have high standards in education and I’m sure of that because I have a cousin who graduated from here who now have a good job." I believed that, too, that's why I took an entrance exam in PLM. That and the fact that I don't have to pay any fees that would save my parents some worries since we're not well off.

list bulletAbout PLM: I would say Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila is a university that wanted to serve students and prepare them for the wilderness or the tough world. We are all scholars there and we have to study hard but the university - maybe it's not big and modern like other universities - made sure they have what it takes to build a nation builder. One of my favorite place is my college building, the College of Arts and Sciences, because it's the oldest yet I should say most modern because it's designed to look like Camp Big Falcon. It's also known as Voltes V. A building standing out because it has wonderful history and creepy stories glued to it's name and the architecture I must say was well thought of even if the paint is wearing off - some part were patched up by mosses - and it's not air-conditioned (Except for humid days or summer, the air coming from the outside is refreshing especially on yuletide season. Before I graduated more than a decade ago, there’s an ongoing renovation of restrooms and faculty office and lounge). In fact every room is small just enough to hold about forty students whose knees sometimes touched because the space between chairs is constricted, good for close interaction; when it's raining, we have to move our chairs so we don't get wet from the rain still entering the already closed window (during those stormy days). But I may describe our building this way because I’m poetic but that’s really how I see it. On fine days and on night time, if you look outside the window you'll see the vast blue sky and the tidy green field or the endless cool darkness - Inspiring. But knowing it's not the appearance alone but the learning that matters, no matter where we are we enjoy our lessons especially when the professors teach us more than what the book offers meaning, preparing us to the real world, with hearty laughter on the side. I remember one time in Humanities class, we went to Baluarte (part of Intramuros) to paint. I may not admire or look up to all my professors there but those who really "made me" for who I am today, I should say impart part of themselves with us, and the best part of themselves they impart. At times I was also a lazy student. I got bored, too, in class that I feel I'm not learning anything or where the lessons are hard for me to grasp. One notable subject for me until now is Sociology. Apart from the lesson, it's what my professor did for me that make it unforgettable. In one surprised recitation he called me to answer his question and since I'm not studying for his subject I wasn't prepared thus was unable to answer. Then he told the whole class, "You know class, hate is not the opposite of love. It's I-DON'T-CARE." It hit me hard. Since then, I believed most of us prepared for his class. And also since then, I guess, I began to care not just with my studies but also with the world around me. My professor in History of Filipino Psychology is also worth mentioning. He would sometimes voice his opinion about the recent issue in the country. One of his teachings that stayed with me is, "To beat the wrong system, you must be in that system or be part of the system." It made a lot of sense. I actually look up to a lot of my professors there. In their own creative ways, they would teach you what they know (most of them are really knowledgeable), they will make you feel lucky you're in their class, or not (because there are still those who’ll simply make you want to jump outside the window or skip class. But I didn't do either of those. Education for me is important). I should say these educators are the ones responsible for making college life more interesting and worth diving in. Another of my favorite place is the then newly renovated library since I love to read and it makes studying easier. I forgot who's responsible for the elegance of the college library but back then, deep inside I was thanking him or them. It was almost a decade since I last visited my Alma Mater but I get to pass by it som

list bulletMy current job: At present, I'm a quality inspector in one of the leading BPO companies in the country. I also write for a sideline and for what it's worth.

list bulletHow long did it take to find a job: It took me a year to find a job. Apart from the reason that the source of money to be able to apply is scarce, I guess it’s because I wasn't looking for a high-paying job or a position that I can brag about, really, and yet it's what I'm applying for. Also because I lack the confidence needed to win those jobs since I was applying for positions not related to my course so later on I didn't push it. Actually, I was a trainee already in this recruitment agency but I quit after three days because something inside of me rebel against doing Human Resource Management. It has nothing to do with the job, it's a good job and it's course-related. I should say the fault lies in what my heart beats for. In the end, I looked for the job where I feel comfortable and I got it at first try.

◈ Studied BS in Computer Science
◈ At PLM
◈ Graduated 1993

list bulletWhy did I choose this school: I chose this school because it is a public university wherein bright students from Manila are offered a scholarship. There was no tuition fee and you only need to pay for the miscellaneous fee. Other than that, this school was one of the high ranking schools in the Philippines. This school was often on the top list of board exam passers. Moreover, in some board exams, students here became the topnotcher or sometimes the batch exam passers got 100% passing rate.

list bulletAbout PLM: The atmosphere of the school was nice. Although it is not that big and of course, you can't feel the college atmosphere that you would feel if ever you are in the top universities like UP, La salle, Ateneo and UST. The uiversity is not that big so I don't feel the college atmosphere I was expecting. However, the quality of teaching was very nice. I love how the professors teach us students. It's very different from the high school teachers since in college, you really need to learn the lessons or else you will fail.

list bulletMy current job: I am currently a call center agent. Before, I was working on abu dhabi but I came back from the Philippines so I applied for a call center agent.

list bulletAbout PLM: Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila is a city government operated school and a scholars university, that almost everybody perceived it as a "nerdy" school. Facilities was fairly good but can be better with the help of some private-owned companies who benefited from the schools graduates.

list bulletAbout PLM: Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila is proven difficult school as it requires maintaining grade per year level and per college. As for the College of Engineering and Technology where BS.CpE belongs, the first year students requires a GPA of 2.25 or higher, and 2.50 or higher for higher levels. If you fail to maintain the required GPA, you will be dismissed from your course.

The atmosphere is somewhat harsh and the pressure in academics is very high. If you are able to manage yourself and cope with it, you will succeed. Time management and discipline are very important.

There is a great need in improving the curriculum and facilities.

list bulletAbout PLM: Being a state university for manila-born, manila residents, and manila graduates, PLM is a "free" university. I myself was a resident and graduate of manila and I am both proud and grateful to say that I have graduated without paying any tuition fee.
My course's building was in the annex in quiapo, so I didnt get to feel the "university" atmosphere during the last 2 years of my college life.

Our professors were all pro, if I were to say objectively of course. Most of them, especially those teaching major subjects, were I think veterans (meaning, old) so there are pros and cons here: they have been around for a long time and have enough wisdom from experience to share; but they miss out on the modern ways and techniques of teaching.

One of the values I have acquired (and mastered) to survive in PLM was resourcefulness; again being a public university, our library wasn't complete and updated, our facilities were quite old and limited. Im glad I have been trained that way; it proved to be very useful in the corporate world.
Over all, I am proud and happy to be a part of Team One Pamantasan.
