Course description:
Customs brokerage is a profession that involves the 'clearing' of goods through customs barriers for importers and exporters. This involves preparing documents and/or electronic submissions, calculating taxes on behalf of the client, communicating duties and facilitating between the importer/exporter and governmental authorities.
The course is designed to a four-year completion of academic requirement accompanied with an On-the-Job Training (OJT) first with our school and then with tie up brokerage firm or to the Bureau of Customs.
Custom brokers can be employed by or affiliated with freight forwarders, put up an independent business or may be employed to shipping lines, importers, exporters, trade authorities and customs brokerage firms.
Employment Opportunities for BSCA graduates:
• The Board Topnotchers (1st–10th place) are immediately absorbed by the Bureau of Customs
• 11th -20th Board exam placers are given opportunity for employment in the commission
• Other board passers and graduates may apply at the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR)
• Can put up own customs brokerage firm
