SCHOLARSHIPS AT KALINGA APAYAO STATE COLLEGE:

I. INTERNAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMS

1. Honorific Scholarship

• This is awarded to Valedictorians and to Salutatorians who are graduates of public or duly recognized private schools in the country

• Free payment of tuition fees for Valedictorians and half tuition fees for salutatorians for two-semesters.

2. Academic Scholarship

• One hundred percent (100%) scholarship on tuition is given to any undergraduate student in any curricular program of the College who shall obtain an average of 1.5 or better with no grade lower than 1.75 during the immediate semester, provided, that the scholar carries an academic load prescribed in the curriculum and that the scholar is of good moral character

• Fifty percent (50%) scholarship on tuition fees is extended to any undergraduate student in any curricular program who shall obtain an average of 1.75 or better, with no grade lower than 2.0 and with no failing grade in any of his subjects

3. KASC Employee Beneficiaries

• Children of the faculty and staff of the College shall be granted seventy-five percent free tuition fee per semester. 100% tuition fee waiver.

4. Siblings

• Siblings enrolling at the same term accorded the following tuition fee discounts:

- Four Siblings. Three shall pay in full; the youngest shall enjoy one hundred (100%) free tuition

- Three Siblings. Two will pay in full; the youngest enjoys fifty percent (50%) discount on tuition fee

5. Donor Scholarship

• One hundred percent (100%) free tuition is awarded to the children of the donors of the lot for KASC subject to the MOA entered into by KASC and the donor.

6. Student Publication

• This scholarship is accorded to the Editor-in-chief (EIC) and other staff members of the College school organ

- The EIC enjoys one hundred percent (100%) free tuition while the rest enjoy fifty percent (50%) discount based on output

- Each beneficiary must carry a minimum load of fifteen (15) units every semester

- He must have a passing general average during the semester

7. Supreme Student Council (SSC), Central Student Government (CSG), Student Body Organization (SBO) and Institute Governor’s Scholarships

• The duly elected presidents of the SSC and CSG shall be accorded one hundred percent (100%) while the vice-president down to the sentinels enjoy fifty percent (50%) discount based on outputs

• The SBO President enjoys one hundred percent (100%) free miscellaneous fees; the rest enjoy fifty percent (50%) discount based on outputs

• The Institute governors enjoy seventy-five percent (75%) discount on tuition fees based on outputs

• Each undergraduate beneficiary must carry a minimum load of fifteen (15) units every semester

• Each beneficiary must have a least a passing grade in each subject

• In the event that he fails in one (1) subject, he continues to serve as a student leader but without his scholarship.

8. ROTC Assistance

• The Corps Commander enjoys one hundred percent (100%) free tuition fee while other officers enjoy fifty (50%) discount

• All enrollees are exempted from paying the ROTC fee

• Each beneficiary must carry a minimum load of fifteen units every semester

• He must meet the criteria set by the ROTC

9. Barangay Scholarship Program

• This study grant program is granted but limited to a maximum of two qualified and deserving children of Barangay Officials including Barangay Tanod and Lupong Tagapamayapa during the incumbency of the aforesaid officials, they shall enjoy one hundred percent free tuition

• Scholarship Benefits in the form of Free Tuition Fee will be granted to one (1) child of every Barangay Health Worker (BHW)

• All incoming Barangay Scholarship Grantees must enroll in any of the following courses i.e. BSEntrep, BSA, BSAEng, BSAF, BSF, and BSCE

• Requirements for Barangay Scholarship include the following:

- Certificate of Appointment as barangay official (for appointive positions)

- Certificate from Barangay Captain noted by the Office of the Mayor or DILG Director stating that the Applicant is a child of a barangay official

- Income Tax Return of Parents (SK officials are exempted)

- Certificate of Good Moral Character from the former principal or guidance counselor

- Previous grades

10. Special Student Assistance for working students

• Each beneficiary shall be paid as per Department of Budget and Management (DBM) ruling

• He must not have more than eighteen units of academic load and with no failing grades during the previous semester

• He must work not more than four hours a day for twenty-two (22) days in a month

• He must be willing to report on weekends in the exigency of his/her services

• He must be industrious.

11. Athletic Scholarships

• This is granted to students in recognition of their outstanding activities and performance in certain fields of athletics and sports in the Provincial, In the Regional, in the National and in International competitions

• Must carry an academic load of not less than fifteen (15) units duly certified by the Registrar

• Must have no failing grade

• Must get a written recommendation from the Sports Coordinator

• Must be willing to undergo rigid trainings without necessarily sacrificing his time for classes

• The beneficiaries shall be accorded the following:

- Provincial and Regional Meets:

(a) A gold medalist avails seventy-five percent (75%) exemption from payment of school fees except miscellaneous fee

(b) A silver medalist avails fifty percent (50%) exemption from payment of school fees except miscellaneous fee

(c) A bronze medalist avails twenty-five percent (25%) exemption from payment of school fees except miscellaneous fee

- National/International Meets:

(a) A gold medalist avails one hundred percent (100%) exemption from payment of school fees except miscellaneous fee

(b) A silver medalist avails seventy-five percent (75%) exemption from payment of school fees except miscellaneous fee

(c) A bronze medalist avails fifty percent (50%) exemption from payment of school fees except miscellaneous fee

• Free athletic uniforms

• A deserving athlete continues to receive the benefits for so long as he maintains strict self-discipline and meets the standard criteria

12. Ethnic/Classical Dance Troupe Scholarship

• This scholarship is given to members who meet the following qualifications:

- Must have the ability, skill, and versatility to perform different dances

- Must be willing to undergo audition and rigid trainings

- Must maintain a passing grade in each of his subjects during the semester

- Must have no failing. Conditional, or incomplete grades in the preceding semester

- Must have a pleasing personality and of good moral character

- Must get written recommendations from the Institute and from the College Socio-Cultural Coordinators

• The beneficiaries are accorded the following benefits based on output:

- One hundred percent (100%) free tuition fee

- Renewable every semester

13. Musical Scholarships (Choir, Combo, Band)

• A member may be given a scholarship depending on his ability, skill, and versatility. A student can be a member and a scholar if he has the following:

- Must have the ability, talent and confidence to act, sing, and dance on the stage and the skill and versatility to play instruments

- Must be willing to undergo audition and rigid trainings

- Must maintain a passing grade in each of his subjects during the semester

- Must have no failing grade and INC in the preceding semester

- Must get written recommendations from the Institute and from the College Socio-Cultural Coordinators

• The beneficiaries are accorded the following benefits based on output:

- One hundred percent (100%) free tuition fee

- Renewable every semester

14. Other Internal Scholarships

• The State College recognizes the vital role of the students play in the realization of it's vision, mission, goals and objectives, as such, they act as ambassadors specially every time they represent KASC in Regional, National, and International competition

• For the honor and prestige that they bring, KASC offers the following benefits:

- Champion – 100% free tuition fee for the following semester

- Second Place – 75% free tuition fee for the following semester

- Third Place – 50% free tuition fee for the following semester

NOTE: (Forfeiture of Scholarships)

• Scholarships are forfeited based on the following grounds:

- A student fails to meet the required grades

- Grave misconduct/violations to college rules, regulations, and policies

- Dropping or transferring to another school

- Having another scholarship/grant (double scholar)

• As a general rule, all internal scholars/grantees shall pay their miscellaneous fees upon enrollment

• A scholar may avail 2 scholarships at a time, one academic scholarship and one External or Internal Scholarship

• A scholar’s ID may be required for some internal scholarship programs, and it shall be processed after payment of the required fee

NOTE:

• As a general, rule, external scholars/grantees shall pay one thousand pesos (Php1000.00) upon enrollment as down payment to activate their enrollment accounts.

• As a policy, two (2) government scholarships are prohibited. In case 2 external scholarships/grants have been approved unknowingly by the sponsor agency concerned, the beneficiary must waive one.

• Each external scholar must have a Scholar’s ID for legal purposes.
