Course description:
This is a degree course offered by DMMMSU - SLUC, Institute of Fisheries upholding the need of enhancing the country’s production and management of fisheries resources.
The curriculum is designed to produce graduates who are highly competent and professionally recognized in the field of fisheries sufficiently equipped with scientific skills and knowledge in inland, marine and fish processing to meet the demands of the fishery industry worldwide.
The program explores the frontiers of knowledge in fisheries through various laboratory and research works, and experimental studies.
For graduation requirements, students undergo the On- the- Job Training in the different government and private agencies to fully develop their manpower skills; Undergraduate Thesis to further enhance their research capabilities in their own fields of specialization.
As a whole, the course prepares the students as fishery technologists and stewards of the country’s fisheries resources for sustainable development.
OBJECTIVES OF THE BSF PROGRAM
1. To provide graduates sufficiently equipped with scientific skills, and specialized knowledge in inland fisheries, marine fisheries and fish processing;
2. To generate, verify and expand the frontiers of knowledge through research;
3. To participate in the government efforts towards the improvement of community life through extension outreach services; and
4. To engage in programs and projects that would enhance the production of fisheries resources.
