The Bachelor of Science in Accountancy is geared towards producing topnotch Certified Public Accountants (CPA) who will provide the growing needs of professionals in the commerce and industry, education, government and public practice sectors. It is also aimed to produce high caliber accountants, with strong values and integrity, that is globally competitive and a team player. Its curriculum is designed to develop the skills and mental competencies of the students to face the challenges in a diverse and fast evolving global professional environment. The curriculum program is designed for a four-year course that is heavily focused on modern concepts and practices in the many specialized fields of accounting including financial accounting, cost accounting, tax accounting, advanced accounting, management accounting, and auditing assurance services with areas in business laws under the Philippine setting. OBJECTIVES • To produce competent professional accountants capable of making a positive contribution over their lifetimes to the profession and society in which they work. • In the face of increasing changes that they will meet later as professional accountants, it is essential that students develop and maintain their competence later as professional accountants • To provide a foundation of professional knowledge, professional skills, and professional values, ethics and attitudes that enables them to continue their professional lives. • To develop capabilities that will enable professional accountants to identify problems, know where to find this knowledge and know how to apply it in an ethical manner to achieve appropriate solutions. • To develop knowledge base and strong skills in order to produce competent professional accountants with appropriate values, ethics and attitudes. • To prepare the students for the CPA Licensure examination and for employment in private establishment and public sector (government agencies) which are subsidiary objectives, which should judiciously blend with the primary goal of preparing the students for a successful long-term professional accounting career. Thus, the accounting graduate should be qualified to take and pass the CPA licensure examination, and to obtain employment as an entry-level professional accountant. With proper orientation and supervision, the student should be able to cope with the problems he/she will face upon in the workplace. • To conduce extension services through technology transfer and good business practices and integrate corporate social responsibility and good governance.
