About St. Michael's College Of Iligan City:
My school, St. Michael’s College, is a good school for the young generation. A child who wants to be motivated and become the person who he/she wants to become someday should go to St. Michael’s College because the atmosphere is conducive to learning and facility is great which really aids students to their leaning. SMC has the most advanced library in all of the schools in Iligan City since it is using an automated system for tracking and accounting books at the library.
About my college education:
The education system of St. Michael’s College is excellent in such a way that its students are being taught to become daring, innovative, and influential to social transformation. The institution is making sure that its students live the core values - Faith, Service, and Excellence.
St. Michael’s College has programs that contribute to social transformation such as livelihood program tapping the Gawad Kalinga. Families in the community of GK are trained and educated on various products-making such as rugs, peanut butter, recycling and other products that can be produced from scratch and trash. This will not only help these families earn a living but as well help lessen garbage thrown in the street. These activities inculcate that each one of us has a responsibility of making a better world for the future generations to come.
We, at St. Michael’s College, practice the 5S+1 every day. This is we practice self-discipline, and social and environmental awareness.
Therefore, St. Michael’s College is not only focusing on academic learning but also on holistic learning which touches the social, emotional, psychological, and mental side of its students.
I am truly proud to be a Michaelite. The training and education that this institution had provided me is invaluable that I will perennially take with me wherever I go. I love the idea that I am now an alumnus of SMC. I like the lessons, academic or not, I learned in SMC which greatly helped me improve my skill in handling our family business.
The education I got from SMC was indeed interesting. It provided me experiences that I would never ever get from others. It is relatively easy, for me, since I am already exposed to the actual stuff of having to run a business.
The course itself was kind of easy for me since I am already working for my family-owned business which I personally manage. So, I get to see the theories we studied in this course brought to life.
My current job:
I’m currently working for the family-owned business since I stand as the general manager. I was juggling two roles before which are being a manager and at the same time a student. I am focusing on expanding our business further and making adjustments to the ever getting tighter market share competition here in the City of Iligan. Especially now that there is going to be a store opening soon that would operate 24 hours a day near to our 24hour store, which has operated for 15 years now.
Am I using what I learned in college:
It is indeed useful for me what I learned in school. The theories are applicable and the new ideas helped me a lot in many situations whether it is in trouble shooting problems or injecting newly developed system for the business to be able to keep up with the competition.
How long did it take to find a job after graduation:
It is not my priority to find a job aside from taking care of family-owned business. but if i were to find a job, it would have taken me a month or two to get a job since there are job openings already available that suit me after i graduated.
Do I recommend studying BSBA in Marketing Management:
I would recommend the course I took in SMC because marketing management is one of the backbones of the business aside from accounting and human resources.
