◈ Studied BS in Computer Engineering
◈ At Adamson University
◈ Graduated 2010

list bulletAbout my college education: Computer Engineering is very difficult one. At my first year i thought it is easy to be a Engineering student i can pass all my subject easily, because it is all minor subjects and basic math. In my 2nd year i experience the difficulty of my subjects, especially math, where i need to stay up late to review, skip lunch to make projects, plates and other requirements. There are times i cry because of low scores i got, hiding my grade slip to my parent because they will rag on me and tell something that makes me feel down. That year i know i did my best, but its not enough. I want to give up, but i have this dream i have ambitions in life. So i study hard wen to libraries, ask question to my professor and I pass. That year is the most stressful year in my college life and most interesting of being an engineer student, were you do your project design, were you applied all you have learned. It makes me happy even i know im stress doing thesis but because im happy doing it. i dont not felt any doubt any bad things in my mind. While im in college i realize that you should be happy what you were doing. Because this happiness makes you more successful in life.

◈ Studied BS in Computer Engineering
◈ At Polytechnic University Of The Philippines
◈ Graduated 2013

list bulletWhy did I choose Computer Engineering: In elementary and high school, I realized that my strengths and interests were rooted in Math and Science. I also really enjoyed problem solving and creating things that had real-life applications. I chose computer engineering primarily because it sounded interesting. I am lucky that it has turned out to be even better than I had hoped. Computer Engineering trains us to understand the workings of high-speed processors, study and build wireless networks, design circuits using the latest tools, and write software systems that are robust against catastrophic failures.

list bulletAbout my college education: Computer Engineering is a bit difficult, there are quite a lot of maths subjects and quite challenging and also enjoyable. The boring part was studying Rizal, I don't know why they inserted that subject in the curriculum, it's not even related to computers or engineering. The interesting part: Studying Science and Math, I really love those subjects.

Studying Computer Engineering needs commitment, motivation, a lot of hard work and perseverance and also dedication.

list bulletMy current job: I'm an Associate Software Engineer. I'm responsible for managing IT assets distributed over multiple sites. I also manages daily activities of Asset software team. My job is also responsible for the strong implementation and enforcing software management controls.

list bulletAm I using what I learned in college: Yes, definitely. We usually work on program conception and building and we are also responsible for varying software applications. We also cover topics like programming, code requirements and applications, and quality assurance.

list bulletHow long did it take to find a job: 8 months after my graduation.

list bulletDo I recommend studying Computer Engineering: In terms of job opportunities, Computer engineers work for computer companies such as Intel, HP, and also in industries that build or use computer-based systems, such as BPO's, telecommunications, automotive, aerospace, etc. Many computer engineers also get jobs as programmers. While they have less programming experience than computer science graduates, their understanding of hardware gives them an advantage in dealing with overall systems.

By studying Computer Engineering, you can get a high Salary, high paying job in top multinational companies, information technology firms, and other industrial organizations.

list bulletAdvice to people who are thinking of studying this course: Grades don't define your level of intelligence, same goes in studying Computer Engineering, it has a lot of Math, but it does not define the course itself.

◈ Studied BS in Computer Engineering
◈ At Centro Escolar University
◈ Graduated 2012

list bulletAbout my college education: My college experience was simply life changing. If there’s a point in my life so far that I would consider as the “peak”, it’s certainly my 5 year-stint at my university.

I don’t consider my college difficult, I like to say it was challenging because I was taught to always look beyond common perspective. I don’t want to say it was just merely enjoyable, it was enriching for the reason of having fun while truly learning.

You don’t need to be the most brilliant kid and pass a tough entrance exam to get a slot for a course you want, you just need a sincere passion and determination to learn – the university will take care of the rest. Beyond learning you get from classroom to get you the grade and diploma is the learning to get you ready for life.

list bulletMy current job: A Management Trainee (and a Systems Analyst) for Corporate Information Systems.

list bulletAm I using what I learned in college: Yes. I have a lot of professional subject teachers who didn’t just throw away theories of the subject matter, they would expound on practical and real world applications so that we could grasp subject’s very essence. To cite specific example, in Computer Networking, we made actual network layouts and implement them in real situation using real facilities and real equipment. Today, I’m just thankful I didn't take for granted that particular subject.

list bulletHow long did it take to find a job: I graduated on April, was hired on May and started on June - all in year 2012.

list bulletDo I recommend studying Computer Engineering: Yes, definitely. In Computer Engineering, you could either enter the engineering (general) field or get into the IT world. Both fields are very promising in terms of employment opportunities. In my case, I choose to take the IT way. The IT field alone is a vast field of career opportunities. There are bunch of interesting works you could get into like games, webpage, systems development and programming in general. If you’re on the technical side, there’s network, unit and server administration, hardware research, development and test to name a few. IT’s not only the forefront in perks and benefits; it also poses lead in terms of career growth. Especially today in the midst of technological advancements and innovations, I could only name countless opportunities for those who have chosen IT.

◈ Studied BS in Computer Engineering
◈ At University Of The Immaculate Conception
◈ Graduated 1998

list bulletAbout my college education: Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering is an IT course that focuses not only on the software part of computer system but also the hardware itself. It introduces the entire computer system; its architecture, operation and components that make it operational and useful.
I love Mathematics and such computer education has started to be in demand during my college years. Well, I never thought it to dominate the world through the years until the current generation.
Actually, it was not my first choice but of my best friend.
Mathematics in Engineering courses are not as easy as 1 2 3. I almost gave up with Differential Calculus and Electromagnetics. But when we started taking up Electronics, Logic Circuit, and Machine Language subjects, my curiosity was awaken. The course was not entirely difficult. It was very challenging.
Yes, it was indeed very interesting! It’s amazing to learn that the basic concept of numbers led to the development of technology nowadays. The simple existence of 1’s and 0’s had been the gateway of man to rule over machines.

list bulletMy current job: I am currently teaching IT subjects in a Technical School.

list bulletAm I using what I learned in college: Basically yes. All the lessons learned from the said school have been useful in my professional career. Theories learned have been the guide to successfully deliver appropriate result. Proper discipline and training were rightfully in practice anytime and anywhere possible.

list bulletHow long did it take to find a job: Finding a job was easy, honestly. I was immediately accepted as an IT instructor in a reputable school right after graduation. There were also some series of interviews and variety of offers that came along during those times. When I decided to widen my knowledge and improve my technical skills, I resigned from being a teacher and work as System Administrator for several years.

list bulletDo I recommend studying Computer Engineering: Only few students really did make it through BSCoE course. Aside from the fact that you have to study it for 5 years, the subjects and projects really demanded focus, patience and seriousness. You have to be really intellectually capable to remain sane and succeed.

◈ Studied BS in Computer Engineering
◈ At De La Salle Lipa
◈ Graduated 2010

list bulletWhy did I choose Computer Engineering: Because it's a promising program that suites my interest in both math and computers.

list bulletAbout my college education: The program requires a lot of analytical thinking and patience for anyone who wants to overcome it, not unless you're a genious. The computer subjects are on mid-level of difficulty for me but the math ones, with all those seemingly unlimited formulas, are on a whole new level. Although it could be really tough at times, we never missed to have fun for ourselves while inside the classroom, perhaps because the professors knew that it will be too toxic to go all serious throughout the semester/s.

list bulletMy current job: Call center associate

list bulletAm I using what I learned in college: It is and in fact I was able to use it to help myself on fixing/troubleshooting computer related problems. My first position was a technical support representative, specifically for computers. From there I had an edge from my workmates since I had a very strong computer background. I was able to be a top associate during that time even if it was my first job.

list bulletHow long did it take to find a job: I already started to work when I was in my last year in college.

list bulletDo I recommend studying Computer Engineering: It's definitely recommended for all who has the passion to be a well rounded engineer.

list bulletAdvice to people who are thinking of studying this course: Don't take it if you're not 100% sure after thinking it over 10 times. I've seen a lot of students either transfer or change programs because they realized that they wanted something else, a total waste of time, effort, and money.

◈ Studied BS in Computer Engineering
◈ At Liceo De Cagayan University
◈ Graduated 1999

list bulletAbout my college education: The course I took up in College was interesting. I chose Engineering because most girls won't. I didn't want to be just an ordinary girl taking up either Education, Accountancy or Nursing perhaps. I didn't have the love for Math when I was in highschool but I eventually developed my love for it in College especially since I took up Engineering. Math eventually became fun and challenging for me. Solving the problems were like solving puzzles.

list bulletMy current job: I am currently a part-time College Instructor. I teach Computer Subjects and Math Subjects. I also have a small Internet Cafe business on the side.

list bulletAm I using what I learned in college: I couldn't say the things that I've learned in College were practical. They were mostly theories. I would have loved it if there were more practical based learning that memorizing books and imagining things. Some of what I use in my career now I have learned from school but most, I have learned on my own, through experience and studying what I have researched.

list bulletHow long did it take to find a job: It took a little while before I had my first job. I also wasn't seriously looking for one until a year after my graduation. I graduated March of 1999 and I had my first job June of 2000.

list bulletDo I recommend studying Computer Engineering: I would recommend it but I should say that if you'll take a course like mine, the bigger opportunities are abroad and not here in the Philippines. There are more job opportunities somewhere else outside the country and the pay is higher.

◈ Studied BS in Computer Engineering
◈ At University Of Cebu
◈ Graduated 2000

list bulletWhy did I choose Computer Engineering: I was confused and because it was popular course at my time.

list bulletAbout my college education: The difficult part are the higher mathematics subjects and making the project work.
The enjoyable was interacting with our professors during break time or no class makes you just have that stress of studying, some entertainment in the ground floor where you can watch educational stuff on the big screen.
The boring part are the major subjects where you have to study and understand the different parts of the computer.
The most interesting part when your projects work and meeting other students in the campus who are taking the same minor subjects that you have.

The traits and attitude that are required for succeeding in this course are love in mathematics especially higher mathematics and science, have a talent in drawing, likes to do programming language, creative imagination and perseverance because it is a 5 years course.

list bulletMy current job: I am a business woman now.

list bulletAm I using what I learned in college: Yes, I have used what I learned in college at my past jobs, because I was once a computer teacher for years in a private school.

list bulletHow long did it take to find a job: 5 years.

list bulletDo I recommend studying Computer Engineering: I would highly recommend the Bs Computer Engineering for employment opportunities, if you are very good in programming and the hardware part. It is a big salary pay most especially if you are hired in one of the computer companies abroad.

list bulletAdvice to people who are thinking of studying this course: In my experience I was as struggling student. So for my advice who wants to take the BS Computer Engineering course must love computers - ALL ABOUT COMPUTERS: the hardware part, the software part, creative imagination, excellent in mathematics and science. It's hard to just a little bit of everything that I mention. I don't want you to be a struggling student. I want you to be very good in most of the qualities that I mention.
