list bulletWhy did I choose Office Administration: On the first day of the college enrollment facing the university I want to enroll myself, I don't know where particular to go and what course I want to take. My mother accompany me at the school without the knowledge of what are the university enrollment procedures. Entering the main gate of the university and being amazed of what it looks and how big it is. Roaming around the university to find the colleges and to look for the courses offered, because of the crowd roaming everywhere we landed on the college of commerce and accountancy and there I saw my elementary friend and also our valedictorian way back in elementary and she also didn't decide yet what course she would take. Upon entering the building there are two doors that designates two courses in that building;Accountancy and Office Administration. I want to choose the Office Administration because I feel it less difficult from Accountancy course but my friend drag me to the Accountancy door and ask me to accompany her because

list bulletAbout my college education: The part of difficulty would only be adjusting to the course I shifted and how I mingle to my new classmates. There are also certain subjects that give me stressful and sleepless nights on studying such as Business Law and Accounting.

The enjoyable part on studying this course would be studying even the kinds of tabs a single folder have. It's amazing how a simple thing turns out to complicate if you just study it deeply. My Stenography subjects that makes us unique from other courses because they think it's Arabic when they see us writing it and when we are reading it and someone would tend to say that we are intelligent individual because we can transcribe and read those writing that looks like worms. The student-instructor relationship that is developed that makes the student open to their sentiments to their instructor which greatly helps students aid their gap and create a positive change in their study habit and views on studying for their future.

The boring part would be vacation time, supposedly it should be the happiest moment for the student because they are can relaxed and go somewhere to unwind but for me it is boring because I'll be missing my friends, my mentors, the classrooms, the noise from the lobby, the different faces of people I encounter everyday in the bus, the smell of rooms, the raging of crowds in the gate, the angry security guards, the benches where we study, the shade of trees, the library where I live during my vacant hours. This are the things that I don't want to miss and the things that makes me feel boring and empty.

The interesting part is knowing the new instructor every start of the semester, their rules, their likes, and their grading system. Also at the end of the semester knowing the grades in the respective instructors office and tables is one thing that gives me interest. Upon studying this course my interests on offices and how it works and manage fulfill it's craving portion, the shallow knowledge is now into it's clearer view and the empty block of learning turns out to be an asset.

Being patient even to small thing that would turn out to be complicating the biggest thing is one of the trait is required in succeeding this course because this course study even the part of a simple paper where other people find it just ordinary and not important. Having a positive outlook in life and a big dream on finishing the course your are taking will bring you the success you are dreaming of.

list bulletMy current job: For now, I still don't have the job but I'm on the process of submitting applications to banks and companies.

list bulletAm I using what I learned in college: The things that I learn from college greatly helped me in my OJT days more particularly in handling the customers at hand in a bank premises. The ability to create a bond with the client without necessarily looking into his/her personal data but through analyzing the person and the situation in a rightful condition that tend to make both parties comfortable with each other.

list bulletAdvice to people who are thinking of studying this course: Do not be afraid, if you want this course then take it. Do not fear for you think it's difficult and you cant handle it. How would you know it's level of difficulty if you wouldn't try. Maybe you would say upon seeing the prospectus that it's difficult because the descriptive title of the subjects are long and contains awesome word combination but it's not what you think. I've been through that also when I'm still freshman but upon brainstorming my views on my own it's not that difficult because when I'm having my major subject with it's weird names it turns out having the grades of a scholar and I develop into a consistent scholar until I graduated. Its not the strength that you hold first but it is the fear you let out as your primary emotion. Be one of us and see the difference after.

◈ Studied BS in Office Administration
◈ At Central Mindanao University - University Town
◈ Graduated 2012

list bulletWhy did I choose Office Administration: I thought it was really interesting, because of the subjects they teach to the students are really interesting.

list bulletAbout my college education: I was able to learn more about personality development, Typing and Stenography which was very challenging in the beginning but was really fun to learn. Other Business related courses and IT-related courses. Stenography was the most difficult assignment for me but at the same is really fun and enjoyable. Having a hard time transcribing short hand assignments which pushes me to study harder.

There are times where some exams are really difficult but you just have to study and when you really study hard there is no difficult exam. There are some students who failed some subjects and had to repeat it.

For me, I guess loving to accept challenges, thinking positive and giving and doing your best in everything that you do will help you succeed in this course. Always believing in yourself that you can do anything with hard work.

list bulletMy current job: Presently I am working at the Municipal Agrarian Reform Office at Don Carlos, Bukidnon as a JO-Clerk. Doing clerical works, preparing bills, filing and records management and typing/encoding data.

list bulletAm I using what I learned in college: The subjects that were being taught to us during my college years are practical skills and are very relevant in my job today. I was good at typing, I know basic video, audio and photo editing. Personality development is about how you groomed yourself properly in situations and being able to understand your fellow colleagues in their behavior through Human Behavior in the Organization.

list bulletHow long did it take to find a job: After about six months, I was hired as an Augmentation Support Staff at our Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office at Don Carlos, Bukidnon. The job was only good for three months.

list bulletDo I recommend studying Office Administration: Yes, I can definitely recommend BS Office Administration to fresh high school grad students. There are a lot of Employment opportunities in this course and will really train them into future professionals and business entrepreneurs. Salary level varies depending on the positions you apply.

list bulletAdvice to people who are thinking of studying this course: Just study hard, there are hardships and challenges that you will encounter in this course but it will help you make you a stronger and better person. Hard work really pays off.

◈ Studied BS in Office Administration
◈ At Central Mindanao University
◈ Graduated 2008

list bulletWhy did I choose Office Administration: I really wanted to become an engineer, I enrolled in Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, but after failing several major subjects my guidance councilor advised me to shift to BSOA. I chose this because it's business related and some of my friends already shifted to this course. Unlike Engineering subjects, math here is basic and I don't feel the same pressure anymore.

list bulletAbout my college education: This course provides glimpse and idea on office works. As how to be an office assistant, secretary, administrator or any office job opportunities after graduation.

One of my subject is stenography, I find it most difficult. But I like subjects related to computer applications in office works. I think this course is not hard to pass that's why many student from other courses shifted in this course, and the failing rate is close to zero I think...:)

Just study, pass assignments, take exams and quizzes, don't absent and try to love this course and then it's very easy for you to succeed in this course.

list bulletMy current job: I work as a drugstore refilling agent assigned in Bukidnon area, under the Unilever Company.
I work as a sales agent, refill products, provide inventories of stocks, upload data for reporting, provide area sales analysis etc...

list bulletAm I using what I learned in college: The most practical one is the considerable knowledge in OFFICE APPLICATIONS which is very needed in office works, data analysis, data reporting, and management related to my current job. I have used all of this to effectively manage my office works.

list bulletHow long did it take to find a job: I was directly hired after graduation. One of my seniors in this course BSOA was the area supervisor at that time. Lucky enough for me.. :)

list bulletDo I recommend studying Office Administration: I can recommend this course because there's a high demand for competitive office workers nowadays.
Actually any fresh graduates can easily work at any companies and at a daily minimum wage (300-320 PHP). Salary gets higher as position goes higher. But those bigger companies offer a higher salary and more productive careers.

list bulletAdvice to people who are thinking of studying this course: If you want to become a successful office worker or as an administrator in the future then love this course. Study hard and always do your projects and assignments. Your pressure while studying and will become your strength in the future. You have a brighter future ahead of you... Keep going!

◈ Studied BS in Office Administration
◈ At Polytechnic University Of The Philippines
◈ Graduated 2009

list bulletAbout my college education: My first choice was Mass Communication but I wasn't able to attend the screening. Later my friend went to COABTE then he invited me to take Office Administration. I don't want to go home without any report for my parents so I ended up here. It was really difficult for me to study stenography because it takes time and devotion the same with keyboarding---Accuracy, Speed, and Endurance. I learned a lot from this course. I've reached a minimum requirement of 60 wpm in typing without looking at the keyboard; and 130 wpm in stenography with an approximate 90% accuracy. This course taught us to be productive, efficient, and effective.

list bulletMy current job: Full-time: HR Assistant
Part-time: Instructor/DJ
By Appointment: Resource Speaker/dubber/voice actor/Editor

list bulletAm I using what I learned in college: Absolutely! This course is very dynamic. Our professors are very sensitive on comma brush-ups, other punctuations, most common usage problems, and diction---communication skills both oral and written. I used these skills and knowledge when I worked in Publication.

Theories are not enough without application; most of our classroom discussions had simulations.

list bulletHow long did it take to find a job: I was working before my graduation rites.

list bulletDo I recommend studying Office Administration: It's not about the course, it's all about YOU! Acquire skills and knowledge. Go to school for learning and remember BSOA is very interesting.

◈ Studied Bachelor of Science in Office Administration - Major in Legal Transcription (slightly different course)
◈ At Polytechnic University Of The Philippines - Taguig City
◈ Graduated 2014

list bulletWhy did I choose : It has been my goal to work in a Government Organization, and I know that this course will play a great help in my training as a government employee.

list bulletAbout my college education: There are times that studies were quite difficult, I guess you couldn't take it away when you study. Especially for me, which was not that good at anything in particular. Some lessons are boring, some are easy... But for the most part, well, as for me, was fun and interesting.

Skills required, first before you graduate, you must be eligible in writing shorthand (steno) since this is also our major subject, same with typing, you must average to 50 wpm before you graduate, and of course, you must be familiar with ALL legal procedures and terms.

list bulletMy current job: I currently work as a Legal Secretary in SyCip Salazar Hernandez & Gatmaitan Law Center.

list bulletAm I using what I learned in college: Yes. It has been a great help... And still is.
Shorthand writing, for example, has been a great help when taking down notes from dictation, or in meeting and while talking with clients, which requires taking down information in fast pace.

Having a knowledge in Law, and legal procedures greatly helped me cope and understand the current events.

Knowing some laws is important, it allows me to protect myself against tyranny, and it also allows me to make sure that I am acting lawfully at all times.

However, by being familiar with the laws of the state we live in, we will have a much better chance at protecting our self.

list bulletHow long did it take to find a job: I already started Working at SyCip Law even before I graduated. April 14, 2014.

list bulletDo I recommend studying : Employment Opportunities are plenty, since the course is very flexible. We can work in a private company, in a law office, in a government office, among others.

Salary level is also good, considering this is my first job. And that I am not really the top guy in class. It's good.

list bulletAdvice to people who are thinking of studying this course: First, you must be willing to take up this course, not just because your parents wants you to, nor because there are no available slots. (though, in some cases, you'll just love the course along the way). Love your course, like how you love your partner :D
There are imperfection in every course, there is no monopoly of knowledge.
Learn to see, appreciate, and take advantage of your course's subjects.

Some lessons are boring, some are insanely difficult, but you'd never give up in something you love right? When the time comes, you'll understand that what you've learned from the course will be of GREAT help, in one way or another.

◈ Studied BS in Office Administration
◈ At Central Mindanao University
◈ Graduated 2012

list bulletWhy did I choose Office Administration: I chose BSOA as a career path since my sister graduated in that particular course also. I was inspired because she easily got a job and already had a stable job.

list bulletAbout my college education: What I have learned in my course is beyond my imagination. It involves my Mental, Physical and Psychological learning.

I failed two of my Mathematics subject (Algebra and Trigonometry), and I really worried since it's a pre requisite to the other subject. I don't really love math that's why I had a hard time passing the subject. But I realized that I should have to overcome that weakness of mine for me to succeed. I know that I am not the only who fails since in reality Math is one of hardest subject that each student should surpass. Many of my classmates before tried to shift to other course but then they stay with our course since they realize that this is the path for their career they want.

For four years in college, I do have lots of challenges I had faced on financial, emotional and of course inconsiderate professors but I still graduated without flying colors but fruitful learning's and attitude that makes me human. I met a lot of people with different attitudes and experience that made me realize I'm still lucky to have this life not perfect but happy. Being patient, hardworking and determination is some of the important trait that a student should have for them to succeed.

list bulletMy current job: Teller at a Distributor Company. It involves money. Receiving remittances from agents and disbursing money since I am the Petty Cash Fund teller also.

list bulletAm I using what I learned in college: What I have learned during my college days that I always treasure is being patient, to value human kind and to put my feet on the ground no matter what achievements I already have.

list bulletHow long did it take to find a job: I found a job after 3 months.

list bulletDo I recommend studying Office Administration: I recommend BS in Office Administration to others since it gives a lot of opportunity to anyone. Employment, salary and brighter career will be on hand. But for me profession will depend on the attitude of the person, no matter how great your profession is if you don't have the attitude you will never get what you want. Choose a course because you love it not because someone love it.

list bulletAdvice to people who are thinking of studying this course: Keep on loving what you have started and surely you will succeed.
