Program Overview
Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Entrepreneurship (BSBA-ENTREP) is a four year degree program designed to provide students with an understanding of the business principles necessary to start and operate a business. Its goal is to teach students how to generate business ideas, screen business opportunities, develop and implement business plans and maintain the business enterprise.
Students under the BSBA-ENTREP will gain knowledge in research, planning, operations, and regulations affecting businesses, as well as strategies of business management and marketing and the economic role of the entrepreneur in the market system. Key business areas such as finance, accounting, marketing, and management will be addressed from an entrepreneurial perspective.
Compared to the generic
BSBA curriculum which is a broader business degree, the BSBA-ENTREP program is more focused on the development and maintenance of business enterprises as well as its operations.

The BSBA in Entrepreneurship program is taught to students through classroom lectures and activities, case studies and business presentations. Students will participate in seminars and educational talks. There may also be a few visits in business establishments so that students are able to first handedly observe how a business is created, operated and maintained.
During the fourth year, two major requirements must be completed by students: the Business Research and the Business Plan Implementation.
The Business Research is done under the supervision of a research adviser. Once completed, the student defends his/her work in front of a panel who will grade his research.
The Business Plan Implementation is a more complicated version of the business research; it is more hands on since you will work with someone who is in the process of building a business. Students will contribute ideas to the business owner and help him/her in jumpstarting the business.
Is Entrepreneurship a profession?
Entrepreneurship is not considered a profession. It is debatable whether Entrepreneurship can be taught at all, or is being an entrepreneur a result of the person’s character, upbringing and circumstances.
However, this program will aim to teach you skills that can help you become an entrepreneur, and also try to give you some hands on experience in how businesses are created and run.
Admission requirements for the BSBA in Entrepreneurship program
Requirements at each school may differ, but are generally the basic college admission requirements:
- Must be a high school graduate.
Those who did not complete high school education may opt to first attend Alternative Learning System (ALS) and pass the Philippine Educational Placement Test (PEPT) to qualify for college. However, some universities only offer selected courses for PEPT passers.
- College entrance exam: must pass the college entrance examination with a specified rating set by the school.
- Interview: must pass the interview conducted by the college.

- Business Inclination – throughout the entire study, teachers will try to develop students’ skills in creating innovative ideas for businesses, therefore it is important that a student has prior interest in this field
- Leadership skills – the ability to lead and interact with a variety of people with different approaches and personal backgrounds
- Strategic thinking – the ability to interpret and analyze information presented by peers and efficiently and constructively support or challenge their proposals, theories, ideas and reports in order to achieve a project's intended and successful end result
- Management skills – the capability to identify priorities and proper courses of action, to plan the execution of tasks and to determine and delegate responsibilities to group members to most effectively carry out projects
- Analytical skills – the ability to solve both complex and uncomplicated problems and concepts and make decisions that are sensible and based on available information.
- Communication and writing skills – the ability to present your thoughts clearly and intelligently in oral and written statements
- Reading Comprehension – understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
- Inclination to Mathematics – there are subjects in the program that require the use of certain mathematical concepts and operations thus it’s very important to have a foundation in mathematics
- Computer Literacy – knowledge of computer use and being able to understand application programs.
How difficult is BSBA in Entrepreneurship?
BSBA in Entrepreneurship is not considered a difficult course. Many students say that this program is fun and exciting. The subjects integrated in its curriculum are mostly easy to understand. Unlike other business courses, there are lesser subjects that need mathematics, however, it is still of great use in this program. The BSBA in Entrepreneurship program does not have an on the job training (OJT) as well.
The most challenging parts of the program are usually the business research and the business plan implementation.
How long does it take to complete the BSBA in Entrepreneurship program in the Philippines?
The BSBA in Entrepreneurship program takes four years to complete
(Note: this may change due to the K-12 integration). The program may be completed in less than 4 years in schools that follow the trimestral curriculum.
Career Opportunities for BSBA-ENTREP graduates
The ultimate goal of people taking this program is usually to be an entrepreneur, which means starting your own business, whether on your own or with partners. However this is not a job, but something you have to do on your own.
If you are looking for a job, than a degree in Entrepreneurship can lead to a variety of jobs, such as in sales, marketing, operations, business development, management and administration.
The job position that is closest to actually being an entrepreneur is Business Development, where you will be in charge of developing, expanding an improving existing businesses.
